FZS600 Fazer / Re: Over fueling "pop pop pop"
« on: 07 January 2018, 09:27:02 pm »
as your going in there then just wait and check everything
standard jets are 115 across the board
if its over fueling then my first guess would be float heights which is enough to check with a piece of pipe and a small ruler
i think is about 4.5mm above carb bowl lip (pre 2000) and 3.5mm (2000 onwards)

get yourself some m4 10mm (i think) full thread cap screws you will want 16 of them and you can replace the shitty screws that hold the bowls to the carbs - for a couple of quid its better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them and it makes life so much easier in the future

if the hardest thing on a c90 is removing old gasket then they must be real easy elsewhere
who would have thought a centrifugal clutch would cause that to happen

holy crap i forgot about them little brackets i could use for the indicators then i only need to fill the holes

yes there is the reflector bollocks but them little stick on ones will do for the half hour it takes to do an mot
been using them on the chops for years and take them off straight after
on one of the bikes i had a legal plate with a reflector that only ever went on for mot's then replaced with the black one as i left
(once i just showed him it and he passed it lol)

ok so this controversial thread rears its ugly head again but on a positive note
my gran (bless her) handed me cash on the deal that i only used it on something for my garage and to enhance my side business
deal i thought so a new set of sockets and a CARBTUNE later i had some work ahead of me
first test came with all kinds of trouble and i knew i had big problems
https://youtu.be/COCTPbbPHeE
after some work i found the problem and someone either cocked up earlier in its life or the fazer has a self moving spring
https://youtu.be/Yh-vl43DTSA
whatever balancing tool you have or are going to get, first buy some extra long screwdrivers it will make your life so much easier - mine just arrived today so i will do it again at some point as i will have better ability to adjust but things are much better now
- this is definatly a worthwile job doing because things are so much better now

i did pretty much the same as fazersharp after seeing his picture
the only difference is i took a jigsaw to my numberplate and trimmed it down a little so i could lift it even higher (could buy a smaller one but wanted legal letter size)
i trimmed the plate so at some point i can put some smaller led indicators on, i just need to find out which adaptors i need or figure a way to make some

ok just went and looked to make sure and it is as you would expect
2x twin filiment bulbs 21w/5w and
pins are offset which is what makes them go in only one way which means they are hooked to the correct circui
tail lights both bulbs iluminated
brake lights both illuminated
see how the pins are offset

switch the bulbs over first and if it still lights the same then it is a problem with the connections if the problem switches sides then its actually the bulbs

you could just check the bulbs with a multimeter if you have one but if you did then you prob would have already

you might find it easier to take the rear section off so you can clean the contacts cause it is a bit tight in there and its only a few screws and a couple of bolts holding it on give the conections a good clean and maybe a rub with a bit of wet and dry

why have two bulbs you may ask - its actually a safety feature because if you do blow a bulb then you have a backup untill you notice the failure - had to ride 20 miles at night with a lad who had lost his single tail bulb once, didnt know the lad but wanted to keep him protected from upcoming cars till we got him home safely

just wondering if a mass of emails from everybody here all on one night will wake them up to the plausibility of reinstating this item
imagine walking into work and having 100 emails titled 'fzs600 hose kits' all from different people
i know i would get my arse into gear about it

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: A few questions for you :)
« on: 28 December 2017, 06:04:47 pm »
dont know about the 1000's but most number plate lights are just from the tail/brake light
if you have a look underneath it will be clear and can see the bulbs/reflector

alex where abouts are you based (says nothing on profile)
there might be someone close by willing to have a look
its hard sometimes to get an idea of whats going on from a written description
- a county/region/city will do then those close by might DM with there location to find if your close buy

ooh alex you said you found a basic manual online - have a look in the downloads section of the forum
all the manuals are there wiring diagrams and all

have you tried using jump leads connected to a running car - it might sound odd but cars have a higher cranking amps and turn the engine over faster - yes it sounds odd but i have had bikes that failed to fire and then once battery died i hooked them up to a car and they fired
you will know what i mean if you have tried this - but be a little wiser with the starter as a higher amp means more power in the starter and therefore more heat blah blah blah etc etc etc
this will show you if most things are working correctly and start to point you in the right direction

secondly when you said had carbs cleaned do you mean CLEANED CLEANED or just old fuel taken out - were all your jets cleaned out - did you give all the orifices a spray with carb cleaner left to sit and later sprayed again

-personaly im thinking your jets are blocked but it all depends on how cleaned they were (the pops and bangs are the easy start and fuel your putting in the cylinders im guessing you are using something like easy start as you said sprayed into the carbs)

389
yep i can defiantly tell that is true, if torrow doesnt come maybe tomorrow will lol
have a good one - im just on the real ale (somehow i spent christmas eve and day sober - sat night not so much)

390
quick thought - give that area a scrub , because the 85cm3 is cast in so it sticks out
engine numbers are stamped in so could have got filled/covered with crud over time making it invisable

391
under the lowest cooling fin of the barrel on the crankcase is where im reading from other sources should start c90-xxxxxxxxxx

the e11 isnt that a euro type approval stamp (seems to early to me) and 85cm3 is just the capacity but we all know that

If you decide to repaint, I found Honda Rio Red car paint from Halfords, a very close match to Yamaha VRC1. Painted my repaired belly plan, and you have to look very hard to see the difference to the tank and fairing.

The trouble is that mtread is colour blind, he thinks colbalt blue and signal red are very similar. :lol

incase anyone in the future is trying to get a close match please add what you have found to be a close match to your bikes colour
i found this forum by a random search of something so maybe others will find it helpfull too.

thats just given me an idea for a new thread

i for certain know they go for silly money and are easy to work on aswell which is just a bonus - might have to send a few back home if i ever get to japan (got to pay the rent somehow) there is a huge following and the c90 club seriously have the knowledge (not nearly as good as us though)
if your gonna rattle can it and ride it for a year or two then sell - then you cant make a loss i know a 6v engine alone just got sold for £200 (go figure)

397
aah its not the one from original picture but still looks in reasonable nick

398
i admit i wouldnt do that to a nice example but you cant even find basket cases for a £100 great lucky find and i hope you give it the justice it deserves - which is wierd considering it was the most produced motor vehicle of all time (i think the beetle was second)

399
100 quid - will double your money and pay delivery if you want
ive wanted one for years to turn into a mental build but they are at silly money
something for the bikeshed.cc
