My relative was employed when taking out the policy, but then went self employed.  However, the policy stated that whilst self employed, it didn't cover for unemployment, sickness etc, but it did still cover death and critical illness.  He didn't have any other critical illness policies, so it was a godsend.  He was paying around £14 a month for the PPI element, so had only paid around £168 when it then coughed up nine years worth of finance which was around 12k.

PPI isn't all bad.  A close relative of mine bought a brand caravan a few years ago and took the PPI.  He had a mild heart attack around a year later (1 year into the 10 year agreement) and the PPI payed off the rest of the finance!

Although I guess he would rather have had the finance than the heart attack...... :\

I rode mine home from the training centre and didn't get on it again after that.  I didn't want to get used to (what had become) the weird riding position.  Funny thing was, before leaving for the training centre in the morning, i fixed 2 pieces of black tape to the back of the L plate......just incase.  I thought it was probably tempting fate, but I knew if I could get through Mod 1 in the morning, I'd probably get through Mod 2 in the afternoon.  Was regretting booking both on the same day as no-one else seemed to be taking that route, but it all worked out fine.  Phew!

I was on a huge high afterwards!  Still am to be honest and it's 10 months since I passed!  I feel like the dog's danglies every time I go out, esp now I've got the Fazer.

Hello.  I pottered around on a 125 for 2 years first as well.  I did my DAS on a 3 day course and was so terrified when we rode out of the shop car park on day one that I thought I couldn't do it and just wanted to stop and get off.  It's only because I was behind the instructor when we set off that I kept going because I couldn't talk to him (I reckon that's why he put me at the back!).  I was fine after a mile or so though and passed my test first time.

I like your bike.  Mine's red too.

Oh, hello.  So that's what your name is on here then!  And yes, I know you've put me on the insurance.... :lol

Hubby and I will be there too.  We're just popping along for race day though as we live fairly close by, so don't need to camp out.  We've got seats at Paddock Hill Grandstand.  Let's hope weather is better than the last BH BSB round.......

That wouldn't surprise me!  Funny thing was, we were supposed to be on holiday and we cancelled and stayed at home.  We only went down the bike shop as I had shown an interest in a white naked FJ6 or an FZ8 after sitting on both at BSB at Brands.  They brought out this white Fazer8 (just because he wanted to try it out for size).  There was no intention to buy anything!

At least he's put me on the insurance.......   :)

Good luck with your test!  Took my DAS last year.  I was so nervous the examiner had to keep telling me to breathe!  Passed first time though, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Well thought I'd just pop on and say hi.  I've recently taken ownership of my husband's FZS600 and I'm loving it.  He's bought a brand spanking new Fazer8......which I only agreed to whilst in a state of shock after a blackbird crashed into the bike showroom window and busted it's beak!  At least I got a new bike out of it I suppose......
