Dynotech in Glasgow did do my slip on version, but there is no comparison to the full monty and I regretted spending the money on the slip on when I upgraded to the full monty as the difference is vast......the full monty is the only way to go.

With the recent snow and heavily gritted roads up here, the mighty Zed Thou was cleaned up and put away for the winter.....its gonna be a long wait til the spring  :'(

French bikes are restricted to 100BHP by law, probably something to do with that.

It's looking good big yin! What made you go with the Kwak over the competition?

I've always been a fan of the Zed since the original Z1, loved the Z1300 and the GPZ, but I thought they lost their way a bit for a few years after that as they concentrated more on sports bikes. My mate had a ZRX1200 but it was an awkward heavy muscle style bike. I nearly bought a ZX12r but chose the Fazer Thou as I had the 600 before that and wanted to sit up rather than arse up.

When the first Z1000sx came out I quite liked it as it was a modern fully faired bike that looked quite good and I always thought one day I would own one.

Anyway when I decided to move on from the Fazer I looked at quite a few, GSX1000f, Speed Triple, and the SX amongst others and I stumbled across  a brand new SX in Hull for less than 7k from a guy who bought it as he didn't get the R1m until a cancellation came up. The SX hadn't turned a wheel as it was delivered to his house and put in the shed. It also had over £1k of extras so I hired a van two days before Xmas and the rest is history.

I actually prefer it over the Fazer now that I've beefed up the power and it's got ABS, Traction Control, Power Modes and Slipper Clutch and also rides and brakes better.

tried playing your link but it plays without sound and cannot see anything either (unsure if I'm meant to see anything but was hoping to see and hear the beast)

looks really nice mate, even the 2nd pic with the 2 black pipes........I don't like the standard type cans they put on bikes these days (pic 1)

I had to save it as "Windows Live Movie Maker Project" (wlmp) as it was too large a file for the site to accept...you could maybe save it and try and open it with something else.

The Zed Thou is traditional with the twin pipes, leaves an awkward space without it on the near side and I also think it looks better. Also with the single exhaust you can't fit the luggage option as the end can is a good bit longer, not that I'm thinking about fitting the luggage but I'll have this bike for a few years so never say never.

Very nice indeed. somw more pics of the twin cans please. although still 5 less hp than my thou   :pokefun

Maybe so, its all about torque too, and I have it booked back in for another custom map and an ECU upgrade too.......will let you know the outcome.......and I now have the baffles out so that may give a bit more power

As many of you Foccers will know I sold my Mighty Fazer Thou and bought a new 2016 Kawasaki Z1000sx.

As rightly noted by a few of you it would be down on power against my fully Ivanised Fazer.........but not any longer......all it needed was a few modifications, time and effort and a bucket full of money ;)
corrected for you :lol

glad you are happy with it now!

You're right, but I managed to get the bike for stonking good price, so the money saved was the money spent on it.

It does more than okay as its now got so much low down and mid range grunt, never gonna compete at the top end though, but that's too mental to even try on the street.

I am a fully paid up member so you can take your dungeon and foc off

As rightly noted by a few of you it would be down on power against my fully Ivanised Fazer.........but not any longer......all it needed was a few modifications, time and effort.

The SX has now been completely transformed and now....ahem.....has more HP, more Torque and handles and brakes better too. The wonders of modern technology and a few quid has made this even better than what I thought it was going to be.

At first I was disappointed in the performance as it was putting out 122bhp with 74 Torque. The Vance and Hines Urban Brawlers pushed it up to 125bhp but the torque stayed at 74.

A PC5 an 02 Optimiser along with a PiperX air-filter pushed it up to 130bhp with 76 Torque.......still not performing the way I thought a litre bike should so I bit the bullet and bought a full Akrapovic Exhaust with Twin Carbon End Cans and also a Custom Map.

So the SX now has 145bhp with an almighty 84 Torque which has totally transformed the bike into a proper Sports Tourer with he emphasis on sport.....the last dyno run had it popping and spitting flames

I have also done a few cosmetic changes too so it looks a bit different from the stock model....see pictures from stock, with Vance and Hines Urban Brawlers to the Full Akrapovic finished bike.

Hi

I spotted Glasgow on your original post after I asked. A long way, I'm in Sussex!!

I'll see. I had an 04 and stupidly sold it!!!

Bw

Good bikes like this don't come round that often and makes the travel to get it worth it, hire a van for 12hrs only cost you £60, don't have another regret on an 04 fazer

23
I'm in Glasgow and still for sale...... van hire is cheap that's how I picked up my new one

Well even though I've only done 30 odd miles so far and still not had the full throttle experience yet, so I cant fully compare it against the Gen1, but what I can say is it is a bit underpowered in its stock format against the full monty with 15 tooth front sprocket. However I do have plans to address this with a PC5, change the gearing, modify the air box & piper cross air filter and remapped ECU etc.

The SX handling is way better and has better technology with ABS, power modes, traction control and slipper clutch.

But if you're judging a bike on straight line 0-150 the Gen1 will have the edge, but even with a Nitron rear shock and racetech internals the stock SX will have the edge in the real world street riding as it feels more planted, more stable in the corners (even with new tyres)....so all in all I'm very happy to have this in my garage alongside the Gen1.

I will give another review once it's fully run in and modified accordingly

Took it out for its maiden voyage today, still running it in so was pretty tame, it's very lively low down and can't wait to open it up. The pipes are rediculously throaty loud, which is just braw
