Ulez complient?

Hello all,


I saw on this forum someone getting a Certificate of Conformity for their fzs1000. I am thinking of getting one and live just inside the proposed ulez zone. Does anyone know what I need to be looking out for if I buy one... which year/ model etc? Don't want to get caught out!!

That's good to hear. Did you have to register a cert of conformity with TFL? Do you know if the NOX figure is on your V5? Sorry for the questions but keen to know what I need to check if I buy a 1000. My 600 not ulez friendly!

I have a 2004 and a 2005. Both have no information on the V5. Then information TFL need is on the cert of conformity. Once you have this you can apply for indemnity. Its a bit of hassle but will save a lot of money if you need to enter the ULEZ regularly. Both my bikes have NOs readings below the required level and so get in free.

Brilliant, I live just inside the South Circular so will need ulez complaint soonish. So I'll probably go for a late model 2004/5 which by the sounds of it should both qualify. Does anyone know if all there is a cut off year wise? I mean would an earlier one have more NOX and not comply... I ask just in case I find an early gem! Thanks all.

Would it not make more sense to just get something newer that is already free to enter? Rather than getting an older bike then going through the hassle of getting the certificate etc?

Yes, been thinking that too! It's just what to get? Maybe a FZ6 or Fazer8.... Whatever it is it will have to go through my side gate which will just take the FZS600.

Well if you like your 600 and you are not planning on keeping it then the Fz6 seems the logical replacement. If your looking for an upgrade in power then the FZ8 or FZ1 are good options but they are both the exact same size so only difference is the engine.

Depending on your riding preferences, style and budget there are plenty of options out there. The MT07 is a great city bike and is stupidly cheap even brand new, the MT09 is a great replacement for what you have although a very different beast.

Obviously other brands are available haha but basically it just comes down to what your wanting to spend 👍

The FZS600 certainly isn't compliant. For the FZS1000 (all years)  you'll need a CoC from Yamaha (cost £60) and send this to TFL together with your V5.
Don't know about later models, but if it's not already shown on the V5, email yamaha UK.

Here is a report of a Yamaha RD350 & TDR250 passing the above test, which shows Sadiq Khan is nothing but a huckster and shaking down Londoners for protection money.

IIRC, some people on here (maybe the faceache group) have taken their FZS600 for the test and it has passed so they can go into the ULEZ zone

Yamaha's official figures say it's not compliant, but as with any individual bike you can get it specifically tested.
But then you are gambling with £175. No refund for a fail, I've heard.

Yeah hence why I never did it. that the guy running the place an acute un-customer friendly attitude problem (I have spoken to him over the phone). The price £175, seems to have been picked out of thin air, to gouge bikers for as much as he can get away with.

It’s not (fortunately for me!) something that I’m affected by. But has anyone had an Ivanised Thou checked? Just curious.

As the Nox figure on a Gen 1 thou is compliant and just requires payment of the CoC certificate, approx £60, why would anyone pay £175 to find out if their Ivanised bike is or isn't now compliant.

Absolutely. Unfortunately Yamaha's  FZS600 figure exceeds the NOx level.

On paper though, if an RD350 can pass then technically so should an FZS600.

Mine is a French import. Getting a COC isn't a problem.
It's only American imports that fall foul.

Yep, was the issue I ran into and why I sold me FZS1000 to another forum member who lives way outside London.
