Thanks lads for the kind words, but please the bike is as good as i can afford at the moment , the main thing for me at the ripe old age of 62 is to have a bike that is well shod ,good brakes, suspension, and steering and that I've got . I'm so lucky still to be able chuck my little short fat leg over the beast and to unleash her around this beautiful part of Wales.  :)

Nah, bought the tank, nose, and seat off  Redrat, new levers, clutch cable, choke cable, rear pads, sprockets, right hand rear pillion hanger,  fairing infill, underseat panel, sports yellow screen, and plasikote spray paint (BBQ heat matt black, super gloss, and plastic black. Removed the exup valve and cables all fooked but left the servo operable still goes like chiswick off the proverbial shovel, my boy thinks it may have lost a little low down power but i cant notice any difference still wants pop up in each gear !!! Oil changed with new filter jobs a good 'un. The ivanised carbs and the R6 rear unit made it an easy decision to try and resurrect quite glad i did, need a ignition switch now as the original one after 61k is quite well worn and is being a little tempermental. I have posted on the Wanted thread. Cheers you Foccers. :)

Please help if you can,my cowson ignition is playing about key operation very difficult comes out when in operating position, plus it will allow the engine to crank ok but it wont sparkle into life, massive backfire too !! I think its the switch completely shagged. w.h.y.

This is the aluminium housing with a two bolt fix onto the front of the cylinder block, mine is suffering with terminal corrosion. Does anyone know if the FZ6 housing would fit with a bit of fiddling with the hoses ?

many thanks Tony

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: EXUP woes..
« on: 05 March 2013, 09:32:29 am »
Thanks for the info. Lez: that's my worry, that trying to remove the cheddar downpipe bolts would cause more trouble. I'll get some quotes tomorrow to see how much it would cost. I had a go at it this evening, and made progress; I managed to drill out the least problematic bolt and get it threaded again, so there's now 1 bolt holding the cable bracket in place. This is also the second time I've heard the term galling in reference to bolts. I'll have to google it as I don't know what it means. Except that this whole experience has been galling..

Similar problem myself last week with my 61k salt encrusted mill. I have now decided to remove the exup valve after long deliberation hoping that the Ivanised carbs will equalise any mid and low range bogging. As far as removal of the header pipes, first appearances were displaying a range of different size unrecognisable well corroded nuts......... my solution was to borrow my son's Dremel and diagonally cut each nut to the studs thread and with a mangled old bent long screwdriver gently tap and split the nuts off, couple off hours job done. The headers are still solidly corroded into the Head with no sign of movement, next decision  made, leave well alone, a new set of shouldered M8 nuts on the way and until there is any real reason to remove the Headers they can stay where they are . :b
