FZS600 Fazer / Re: Brake Seals DIY Job? Braided Line Question Aswell
« on: 15 April 2013, 04:46:28 pm »
I on the other hand went with Fren Tubo lines with the standard set up. Cheaper than the equivalent HEL or Goodridge equipment, but really nice quality.

I fitted race lines to an old fireblade and they were just a fraction too short, causing clearance and routing issues. But to balance that they were a cheap set, not HEL or Goodridge, etc.

General / Re: Ohlins or Nitron?
« on: 21 June 2012, 06:10:21 pm »
I am looking into doing the same thing. The basic nitron has a ride height adjuster and the damping screw affects both rebound and compression simultaneously. I haven't considered ohlins as its outside my budget.

Hagons are always popular and seem to do as much as most people need, but not very bling and no ride height adjustment.

Bitubo have some nice looking items and have the added benefit of being unusual. The damping adjustment on the basic model is only for rebound though. This may not be so bad as according to a recent article in TBM the rebound is the most important adjustment, but I suspect that is a matter of opinion.

We're you looking at top of the range stuff or more budget/basic shocks?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Exhaust Replacement - End Can ?
« on: 16 June 2012, 10:58:28 am »
There are new akrapovic race cans for 300 on eBay at the mo...

No baffle, but I had a full race system on my blade, noise at low revs was quite reasonable. I never had any complaints or got pulled over for it.

Just my 2pence worth.

+1 on the larger front sprocket nut. Don't forget to measure the shaft too.

As for the chain; I prefer a good brand as the quality is better and it lasts longer. Bit of a false economy buying cheap as they don't last.

FZS600 / Re: Lost your front sprocket and washer???
« on: 06 June 2012, 11:07:40 am »
THIS ^^ just happened last night on the way home from work.

I took the sproket cover off to check because I heard a funny noise. Low and behold the front sprocket it loose. Took the nut off and the threads are stripped. Damn, only had the bike since march!

Looking at the shaft measurement tolerance, I checked my own and found that it is not a uniform diameter, over say 70% the measurement is over 17.5, but on the inner threads it is more like 17.45. I am going to get the updated nut and washer and try it like that.

However, some of the innermost threads are slightly wavy (damaged) its not too bad, but not perfect. So I am afraid that they will strip.

Does anyone have any experience of Yamaha France and this problem? What results did you get if any??

My plan is to buy the nut and washer, its only 7 euro so not too bad. But I am afraid if the shaft has to be replaced I have no relationship with the local Yamaha Dealer as I only arrived in Pau in February.  :'(

Cheers

Hi,

I just picked up a very tidy FZS600, in red/black/white from 2002. Its the least rare bike I have ever owned, and I am really enjoying it!

I live in Pau, in the south of France. So if you are ever in the area and in need of a cup of tea give me a shout.

Cheers

Stephen
