Discs off today. Warmed up the bolts, one whack with the impact driver, and happy days. All the bolts came out ok. Cost me 15 quid for a new impact driver as the old one flew apart on the first whack. Just got to decide who to order the bearings from. Marksman are top of the list at the moment.

...nothing exotic I'm afraid. Just gloss black, which hopefully will look just a bit sharper than the more satin standard finish. Did you get the text I sent regarding coolant choice Mr.Red.

,,,was thinking of getting my flaky wheels done in super fast silver to match the bike and brighten them up a bit, harder to keep clean though....

got a bit of a problem with my phone

on ee pay as you go as iam a low user and they have withdrawn my number as i dont use it enough...

been trying to sort it out for a few weeks now

Certainly paid for an easy day yesterday getting the discs off. Getting the roller bearing out of the rear wheel, what a bar steward. Too late to get to the powder coaters today, so that's a first thing in the morning job.

Not a tip exactly, more a suggestion as to coolant choice, as there was a question as to the suitability of the coolant that had been in his bike. As Mr.Red has to go to Halfords for an oil filter in the next day or 2, my suggestion was Comma X Stream G30 which I use in both my bikes, and I know is stocked at Halfords.

Not raining yesterday morning, so the bike got the thorough wash its been due for some while. Dried it off, then set to this morning with some maintenance. Three years since I had the shock off, so thought Id do that and clean and re-grease the bottom link. Not too shabby at all really, came off without any difficulty, think Ill put it on a two yearly cycle. Cranked and offset ring spanners in action

Haynes says to remove the rear wheel, and then remove the bottom bolt and bush first, but to be honest if you keep it lubed you can get the bottom bush out without wheel removal, and taking the top bolt out first removes nay tension on the bush too. Hope fully ill get some time to refit tomorrow, get the one tooth down front sprocket on, oil and filter change then blather the bike in ACF50

Needed it to repair a shower head spray adjuster, it has two small o rings inside and in the kit there was not the right size including thickness so I got a smaller on and stretched it until it decided to stay bigger. Also needed for a dishwasher and again didn't have the correct size in the box.

New one tooth down sprocket on, shock refitted. Hopefully, with the sun out, Ill get it coated with ACF50 this afternoon. If it stays dry, hopefully get a run in perhaps Tuesday

not much progress for me . work and family matters getting in the way $:\$ ..........having trouble getting the old mechanical seal,carrier and oil seal out , the carrier put up a hell of a struggle as it has some sort of sealant/glue/gunge on it, got it out but ive marked the outer lip of the housing slightly , not in the seal area and wont affect performance of the new seal just looks a bit messy ,will tidy it up with the die grinder before re-assemble, just got the oil seal to remove and then i can start putting it back together

....times running out for this thread so got to get a move on

not today though , got a wheel bearing to replace on the cage,done the other side a while back and had to grind out the inner race so expecting the same with this one,an hours job will take me 3 $:\$ ......but at least its not raining and icy cold

Well,I hope you have an easier job than I did when I did my front sprocket last year,it was so tight I couldn't believe it!! I ended up buying a heavy duty socket,a long bar with a scaffold tube on,a big wedge of wood through the back wheel and my missus holding the front brake on,I honestly thought it had somehow welded itself to the bearing or something,when it moved you'd have thought I'd won the lottery !

No problem really. Stout piece of timber in the rear wheel, socket with breaker bar on the nut, went as expected. Slackened the rear axle, pushed the wheel forward, looped the chain off the rear sprocket, unscrewed the front sprocket nut, waggled the sprocket off, slipped the new sprocket into the chain, then just reversed the operation. The angle of the chain over the swinger has altered slightly, but doesn't look like a major problem. Been for a spin in the morning sunshine, although the roads are still wet, nothing untoward. Just got to reset the gear indicator now as the smaller sprocket seems to have resulted in 5th and 6th both reading as 5th

had an hour to spare this afternoon so had another go at the oil seal...finally got it out

......comparing old to new seals and all`s good but i dont have the metal "cup" that holds the inner oil seal,going to check fowlers and see if its available,so,another hurdle to jump and more time waiting for parts,all worth it come spring time

ordered what i thought was a seal holder but its the bearing behind

.....my fault all the clues were there including the part number starting with BRG

....just ordered another seal which i already have but hoping the gen yammy one will come with the seal carrier...fingers crossed

hi UNFAZED........its not listed or shown on the fowlers website and not really a seal,its a metal cup that holds the oil seal (no 3 on fowlers) that fits between the bearing and the mechanical seal,the seal i have dosn`t have this cup/holder but its not gen yam , i`am hoping the fowlers gen yam one will come with the cup/holder.......i`ll see if i can post some piccies later which will explain it better...
