Hi all,

Decided to sell my FZ1 (already found a buyer) and so have stripped off my Power Commander 5 and K&N for sale if anyone is interested.

The K&M might seem unusual to throw in, but I've literally only done around 200 miles with it in and so it's practically brand new with no wear to it, so I thought since a lot of people use PC's to map for K&N's it would make a good package to sell together.  I was in 2 minds to sell the bike and had bought the K&N, but finally decided annoyingly not long after installing it, so a bit of a wasted purchase but just how it goes.

The PC box is a bit tatty (missing the lid) but everything's there except the Dynojet stickers and alcohol wipes - the velcro stickers are attached to the PC unit but the sticky backing is not very effective so I've advertised it as missing.  Otherwise it's in perfect working order.  Comes with the O2 sensor eliminator and instructions for fitting.

For Sale & Wanted / SOLD - FZ1 Front Sprocket - 16 tooth Renthal
« on: 02 February 2017, 09:03:15 am »
UPDATE - NOW SOLD

Hi all,

I fitted a 16 tooth sprocket to my Gen II, but after a few hundred miles found I prefer the standard gearing and so switched it over yesterday.

It's a Renthal sprocket and barely any wear (certainly no visible wear) having done only a few hundred miles.

Cost me about 17 quid, but happy to send it to anyone who wants it for around a tenner.

PM me if interested.  Will put it on ebay next week if no interest.

Cheers,
Rob.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Mod Reversal?
« on: 22 November 2016, 05:18:56 pm »
Hi all,

Am interested to know if rather than looking to add mods, anyone has decided to remove them all and go back to stock setup?

Just for background, I've got a Fuel silencer (no exup - sounds great), removed flies, high flow filter, AIS blocked, power commander V and autotune, smaller front sprocket, but I don't feel I've gained anything in the rev range I normally ride in.

Don't get me wrong, the bike is a rocket at high revs and I've possibly fallen into the mod trap trying to get something out of an engine that it's not possible to get - i.e. nice low range torque.  After all, an engine's character can't really be changed without serious work, simply tuned for best performance, but essentially same 'character' if that makes sense.

All I seem to have done is reduced economy quite a lot (small front sprocket) and not really improved normal riding for the type I normally do.

I'm actually thinking the bike had better torque when I got it and I'm seriously considering removing everything and setting back to stock (auto-tune etc all going back on ebay I guess) even with original exhaust and exup etc.

Anyone else gone through this, and did you feel you'd done the right thing going back?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Filling the expansion space?
« on: 11 August 2014, 01:47:51 pm »
Anyone worked out an easy way to be able to fill the tank to the brim (gen ii) and get around the collar in the fuel tank.

I know it's there to allow expansion as the fuel heats from the engine, but if you're on a long tour it won't matter as you're instantly draining it again straight after filling.

I don't want to drill a 'breather' hole as swarf will get in the tank, but wondered if anyone had removed it or found a way to fill fully.

Must be a good few miles worth in that top bit and with a 140 mile range would be good to get a bit more out of it?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Gen II mods that don't require map updates?
« on: 28 July 2014, 04:03:12 pm »
Hi all,

Wanting to fettle the bike more, but haven't quite got the money at the moment to go the whole hog and get a PCIII / V and go for remapping, so does anyone know the limit of modding that I can do, without affecting the performance negatively.

I've read about people carrying out the airbox mod, de-cat, remove EXUP valve etc,

Is it ok to carry out any of these on a stock bike?

I know putting a PC etc will always get the most out of mods, but it's still good to tinker sometimes, as long as it at least wont be detrimental to the performance.

Cheers,
Rob.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Modding the 'Flies'
« on: 12 July 2014, 08:29:53 pm »
Hi all,

I've seen a few youtube vids about modding the secondary butterfly valves on the FZ1 (I have a 2011 version) and wondered if this was worth doing and what the effects were, both positive and negative.

I currently have the tank up while doing some other work and will be balancing TB's so thought this could be a potential mod.

It sounds like mid range is boosted as the air is made available quicker, which sounds great but does this affect mpg (which I really don't want to drop any further if I can help it).
The vids show the 'flies' being trimmed, but I thought surely just removing or opening fully and inactivating would be easier, or is this too much of an effect?

Anyone done this mod and thoughts on the effects to an otherwise stock bike.

Cheers.

Introduction / Less than a week to pick up the 'new' Faz
« on: 17 March 2014, 06:10:10 pm »
Put a deposit on a Fazer 1000 this weekend and should be picking it up this weekend hopefully if all goes ok with my bank manager letting the cash out of his cold tightly curled fingers.

Its a 2011 model and looks like its been well looked after - hoping to get a good few miles on it and possibly at least one European trip later this year.

Had a good few bikes over the years, from sports to more of a touring slant these days as getting a bit too old for the full on race position, especially over long distance.

Anyway, thought I'd drop in a say hello - have been loitering in the background for a while before I made the decision and looks a lively place  :)
