latest news is that Police will not prosecute the driver but just give advice. So it begs the question, like the zero tolerance approach to speeding or the 10% + 2, does it now mean that wherever you live, determines the legal outcome of crimes?

Going to work this morning I saw a car with a strip of very bright blue leds all the way along the front bumper and when the dickhead overtook me in a 30 zone I saw on his rear bumper two full length bumper strips of leds again, one strip was red and the other strip was green, but I was passing through that shithole Bradford at the time so its probably normal there.

pmsl at Bradford :lol :rollin

ex fire engines being used as party buses like stretch limos are
horse riders with hi viz on the horse (does it appear to be a plod horse?)

its been the bike in this case, I'm sure of it

My understanding is that the motive was to proceed more freely through rush-hour traffic by giving other road users the impression that it's a police bike and hoping that they give way.

When I had my Pan European, just wearing a high viz jacket made a big different even though the bike was slow red and I had a black helmet, people moved out of the way much better than whenever I didn't wear the high viz.
The muppets probably thought I was plod as I used to get people intentionally blocking my way without hi-viz but nobody tried that when I wore it.

similar with me when riding an RT, people see big bike and hi viz and think plod. Had lane 3 to myself :lol

these days on the bandit, twats sit in lane 3 with nothing in 1 and 2 and won't budge

I don't see an issue here, he hasn't enforced any law or tried to tell people what to do. He had hi viz on......loads of people wear it especially bikers. Years ago up here, a local lad dressed and rode a bike resembling a paramedic. He'd park up when one of the big shows was on over on the Wirral, after complaints from the public, the Police said he was doing nothing wrong as he'd not offered medical assistance to anyone.

Ref the bike, does this mean the Police force who sold it with livery should be culpable and what about re enactment groups?

we see old army jeeps but we don't assume they're full of old yank soldiers

just bought a new toaster and the lead is barely long enough to get the toaster past the overhanging shelf. As it is, I cannot have the toaster controls facing me, the whole toaster has to be side on

General / Re: Emergency Vehicle/Red Light Question
« on: 02 January 2018, 10:08:23 pm »
happy new year everyone, hope Santa brought you everything you wanted ;)

ref the original question, blue light drivers have to be very careful passing a Red, it must be treated as a give way but any accident will see the driver of the emergency vehicle get fucked over by their organisation and then the law.....their Unions will leave them out on a limb as there's no recourse in law. Please remember this when emergency services (ES) approach you on the road. Our drivers are told to turn everything off once you hit standing traffic (traffic lights) as we shouldn't be encouraging the public to break the law/panic. Many people panic when we approach, they stop on hills/blind bends etc....just keep going at normal road speed coz we will pass you when safe to do so. I've heard anecdotal evidence of traffic moving through a Red to allow ES through and camera has operated......some won in court, some lost......appears a lottery to which ever judge you get and how they read the law determines your fate......TAKE THAT CHOICE AWAY FROM THEM AND DO NOT JUMP A RED
believe me, you sitting at a red for seconds is nothing compared to delays in the big picture (ie all ES not being deployed at the point of call....(Golden Hour).....ES crews unavailable due to cuts etc). Drive safe and stay stay safe, look after no. 1

unsure on my bandit rear bulbs as never had to check them, had to replace a number plate bulb which I recall as a standard bayonet fit but maybe wrong on that one.
I think the bandit has a H7 headlight bulb

my question related to if the LED bulbs were of the same fitments ie  not like some car bulbs that are quite square and flat as opposed to having prongs like H4/H7 or bayonet fittings at the rear
