General / Re: Attention film buffs (hijack, sorry)
« on: 13 September 2013, 01:16:09 pm »
Apologies, but to assist those that want to watch movies, but not  pay, and wildly veering off topic.   I watched the Flight film on a free streaming site.  I enjoyed it as I can relate to the booze.  Just mentioning the pirate link as I got hooked on Dexter and Breaking Bad, and The Killing, and The Bridge, and Sons of Anarchy,  and can see them 20mins after they air in the US!

If you don't have cable or sky, or just want to watch the latest films (some are ropey - camshots, but good enough to watch,  others are limited copies for cimema owners etc) then have a look at

www.iwannawatch.ch

www.primewire.ag

for films and sports stuff (ufc in particular)

and for series stuff

www.cokeandpopcorn.ch  (when the main screen shows,  click the "TV Shows" button  at the top of the screen.  It's main page shows just crap links (to get around the fact that they're leading you to stuff that they shouldn't!)

Always use Chrome with Adblock or Adblock Plus extensions installed.   Always.  Otherwise you'll get the iLivid downloader, which although relatively harmless,  is a browser redirect that you will need to remove.  So make sure you enable those extensions.

 :hijack :hijack

I'm sure Denzel made some crap films,  but he certainly ranks as one of my favourite actors.  My favourite was the movie where he was battling the demon,  and smoked the cyanide laced cig at the end!  Can't remember the name, but that is a fav, as is the one where he plays the paralysed cop.   Top guy,  we can forgive him a few crapsters.    I'd love to see him playing a Shakespearein character.   I think he'd be great as King Lear!

I've met a few ACPO, and they live in a different world.   They now go with the PC first mentality,  rather than operational effectiveness.

"Looks like they asked Mickdel to remove his helmet again..."  :lol

Now that pic just reminds me of home (Armagh).   Every year, one particular filling station got that treatment.   I think a different policy, rather than removing lids,  was the bone of contention - the filling up of crates of milk bottles in the trunks of cars.  (as there was a riot in progress a mile away  , and fresh molotovs were needed,  mitigating against the normal practice of filling jerrycans,  and then filling the bottles at a different location.)   If memory serves correctly,  it got burnt to the ground  6 times.   Before passing into an ownership that provided free petrol during the rioting season.   And it hasn't looked back since.

It's just the way things are.  We all know the stations have standing orders for their staff and customers regarding wearing helmets,  so it's just pissing in the wind getting worked up about something you can't change.  I've enough stress inducing elements in life, without looking for more confrontation.

Talking of confrontation,  I was out a couple of weeks ago with my daughter, walking our new pup.  We'd just left the flat, and instead of walking straight onto the road, we took the internal path to access it 50m away. The pup picked the route.   I'd spotted a 20/30 something, for want of a better word,  chav,  looking at us for longer than people usually do.   When we got onto the public pavement,  he was sitting on a low wall, and as we walked past, said "it's not hard to be offended round here is it mate?"  I asked,  politely,  what he meant.  He said "you saw me, and then deliberately walked on the internal pavement to insult me"  He said something else as well, and I started politely again, to say how dare you talk to me like that in front of my daughter (she was getting upset).   Then I flipped and walked up to him, forcing him into the middle of the road, and said "If I ever see you around here again, I will rip your fucking head off"   He fucked off pretty quickly.  I didnt realise I was screaming until I saw all the people looking out of their flats.   I told my daughter that "some people just need to be hit love".  She told me she felt sick, and went home.

I don't handle confrontation well.   It causes stress, and things like taking your lid off at a filling station,  is one way to avoid it.  Unless of course you're deliberately seeking confrontation,  in which case,  keeping your lid on is one way to get an opportunity to scream at someone  :lol

Nice little bikes, and will be a classic soon.  But it will have been abused and thrashed and blown up with ten teenagers on it.  Unless you know a lot about two strokes,  and the owner can show you evidence of a recent rebuild,  I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.  Also finding spares might well be an issue.  Most were sold in Italy.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Just fitted a Nitron shock
« on: 26 August 2013, 05:50:55 pm »
I suppose it all depends on the performance envelope you want to have available.    I found an Ivan's slip on (fitted by Falcon) improved it's low speed commuting manners remarkably.    I got greedy and went for the full monty on a different bike.  It came pretty close to mimicking an R1 I had at the time in third at about 8k on the rev counter.   The front came up, and it took off like a scalded cat.  Stomach muscles were used for the first time in years trying to hang on.  Scared me a bit to be honest, as I wasn't expecting it.

Lost the licence shortly thereafter, so D666 kept the bike for me.  It's got proper brakelines, screen, etc and a few carbon additions.  I found the can it has (evo triangle thing) let it breathe much more easily,  but I've also got an evo carbon straight through for silly days.  Although those are mostly past now!

I had the back lifted,  but found it very light on the bars in triple figures,  so will drop the forks a bit.    I'll probably stick to most speed limits now though,  as Casey Stoner said to Rossi "your ambition exceeded your talent".  I can't use anywhere near the full potential of the bike,   so shock mods etc will probably go on the old age bucket list.

I'd ask Falcon269 for sensible mods catered to your riding style.

What was the annual ride to commmorate a foccer killed on the way home from a rideout?   It was an annual thing when I joined in 2005?   I can't even remember his name (meds kill the memory).

We got flashed so many times i had to wear sun glasses :lol

I'm 6"3 and the OE gave me huge pressure on the shoulders and head when accelerating or riding at speed.  A DB moved turbulence off shoulders, to head,  so got head bobble at high speed.   Putting butt to rear of seat a bit and slight lean forward cured it.   Much better than the OE screen, which was just plain torture at over 80.   Aching arms and shoulders.    DBs are pretty cheap.   Considered a vario, but read so way too many negative reports about them.

Just bought a scottoiler with dual injectors on fleabay. Seller was Busters and its about £30 cheaper than buying direct off their site!!!

Have you got a link Sean?    That sounds a cracking good deal.

I wouldn't let it worry you.

But I do find it really annoying, for some reason,  to deal with someone who has no interest in bikes in a bikeshop.      I wonder if I'm being a bit picky.  I mean,  if I go into mcdonalds,  I don't expect the server to be really into burgers  :lol

Can you arrange a good discount for foccers with your work??

Last surgery was in December.  Got a big hernia op on 1 July,  when I'll have a mesh fitted.  I forgot to ask if it's OEM NHS mesh, or something from K&N.    It ruptured where I had previous attempts to removed my gallbladder.    That will take me up to 20 general anaesthetics!

Hernias are a real bummer.  I can't even go out on hot days,  as I can't wear t-shirts,  as the hernia bulges,  and I think everyone is looking at me.   My family have already told me it totally freaks them out.  Looks like something from Alien.   That really reinforced my self confidence  :'( .    I was told I can't even think about riding a big bike,  or even any bike,  for at least two months.    And after I've lost weight.  And improved muscle tone.    Just writing that,  makes me feel like I'm a hundred and three  :\

I hope the recovery goes well guys.   Just take it easy!!!!    I can give advice,  but not follow it.

With your language skills, it should be a doddle to find something that pays well in London.   You didn't say where you are living,  or are based,   or how far you can commute?

I stuck about 5 caps fulls in my tank. Deffo made a differents bike is much more crisp now. When I acclerate the engine tone souns like a jet taking off its awesome...

I used to be obsessed with these types of things.  I think the difference was only noticeable in my head though,  as bikes were low mileage.

If they can do it in Ireland,  I'm sure there's a way round Elf n Safety to be found.    There'd be lots of paddies visiting for a start.   I hope something comes of it,  although I'd think to start with an 11mile course is a bit ambitious.  The NW is around 11 miles,  and the UGP is around 7ish.   Much easier to ensure roads are in good nick, over a shorter course.      The Tandragee would be a good distance.   (5 and a half miles).

Anyone going over for the Ulster Grand Prix?   My favourite all time road circuit.   Lap record is over 130mph.    Great roads,  and one of the only ones left,  where you can batter your way into a bush by the roadside, and have your elbows on the road,  with bikes 1metre away from you.

I made the mistake of mixing my ptsd meds, with alcohol.     Bad combination.  I just had to see if the warnings about mixing with booze,  were founded on empirical evidence,  or were a get out clause by the manufacturer.   I'd guess both  :eek    Aggression was off the scale.

Sorry if I upset anyone.   Seem to have managed to upset everyone else I came into contact with.  :'(

Marquez is already handing everyone their ass on a plate.    Rossi is over the hill..  Unfortunately.     Brad Smith's (he looks like the Banjo Boy in Deliverance) performance has been abysmal.   That ride needs to go to Scott Redding.
Crutchlow has been impressing.   But he got whopped by Dovi last year.   I wonder what'll happen to him at the end of the year.    Imo,  Redding aside,   CC has performed above and beyond.   If there was no such thing as "pay riders", like Rossi,  I wonder how the grid would shape up.

Redding is the best racer to come out of the UK since Sheene. :D

I remember seeing Joey and Ray McCullough going head to head in the 70s,  round the Old NW200 circuit,  before they introduced that chicane on Juniper Hill.   Talk about balls out racing, or plastic tyres...   My uncle used to spray Phil McCallen's bikes before he got the factory stuff (and his private small bikes thereafter).    I remember watching Joey at the NW working on an RG500 (I think), in the P J O'Kane green and white colors,  lying on it's side beside his van,  20mins before he raced it.  Might have been Cookstown,  long time ago.

I remember my uncle telling me Joey said to McCallen "That owl rc30s nat quack enuff roun here"     :eek

I asked my kid if she knew what you we're talking about, but I can't repeat her reply.    Gun games are nice,  but I preferred real ones after I turned 23.   I used to enjoy Sega.    Formula 1.   Old Skool Bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can guarantee the sight of a 6'4 20 stone skinhead running and screaming at you will make even the most ignorant of cunts, think  twice.

well I like your style just, less of the swear words please !
see you Next Tuesday I find very offensive !

God Damn Motherfuckers.  I typed out a polite apologetic reply, and got a 404.   Where's my shotgun. Oh, just remembered, my family took it away.   The second to last computer is in danger of having it's bolloxed punched out.     I do apologise for all the swearing, but my 28 year  old, stunning brunette,  therapist tells me it dissipates anger much more effectively than whacking things.   In fact, I find myself using the most vulgar, profane,  language imaginable in our sessions.    I dont' know if it's helping me or not,  but it certainly beats jerking off to the recorded messages on the 0900 numbers, or so I've been told.

General / Re: Turkey (2)!
« on: 14 June 2013, 12:33:28 am »
I spent a year in Turkey in 89/90 before heading to the armpit of the universe (nigeria) for 5 years.   Married a turkish girl, and have
spent about 2m there every year, since 90, apart from last 2 yrs when health intervened.   I love the 5 day "blue cruises".   Her family have a few summer houses in Kusadasi,  on the beach front.  Her brother lived in Izmir,   When you pick up the lingo, you can just start bus hopping your way round the country.   The only bit I haven't seen is the black sea coast.    But, I've seen 80% of the country.     Great if your'e a lamb lover!
Plus, it's funny when you go into the local kebab shop and order in Turkish.  Even more so when I wear my Fenerbache football top.  The only difference is that in Turkey, you dont' encounter the cocky turk cunts that seem to have been vomited out of Turkey into the UK.    Reeking Kurds....................they sour Turkey's reputation in exactly the same manner as the England football yobbos did for the UK.   The only problem is that visiting Turkey,  most English folk are only likely to encounter peasants, working as waiters, tour guides, etc,  or spend their time in bile inducing "English" or "Irish" bars.   And form a narrow minded view of the country.

Maybe it was the English flag on a table in a Turkish restaurant in Turkey that got me wondering.   WTF?  Was there an international on?
