General / Tesco Dagenham....
« on: 14 July 2018, 06:27:47 am »
As I entered the Tesco site at Dagenham in my lorry (not the shop but the warehouse site) I saw a gold coloured Fazer (with a '46' sticker on it) parked in a prime spot. Does it belong to anyone on here?

General / A rant about Bikesure 'Classic Insurance' policies
« on: 19 June 2018, 09:03:35 pm »
After a year of being 'insured' by Bikesure (for my BSA) I decided to change to a different insurer for my new bike (not got it yet so no pics, and I've still got the Fazer!)
Going through the process of sending my NCD off to new insurer and I notice that Bikesure gave me 0 (zero) years NCD despite not having made any claims. Obviously I questioned this in an email.

Today I received a phone call from Bikesure to say that they don't give any NCD with 'Classic Insurance' - As far as I am concerned it wasn't made abundantly clear to me at the time so we had a long discussion about it.

It turns out that even if you started the policy with some NCD from your previous insurer by the time you've finished your year with Bikesure you won't have any NCD for your next year as you don't get any!

I have managed to get them to send me an email which stated that I haven't made any claim in the lifetime of the policy - but that is not the same thing as an actual NCD - I have sent this to my new insurer and I wait to see if they will accept it.

So, once again it is Buyer Beware.

I know some of you have 'Classic Insurance' policies with other insurance brokers and I urge you to look into what you are actually getting - I feel like I have got ripped off just because I didn't read all of the small print.

Pee'd off? Oh yeah, just a bit!

Diesels and Lawnmowers (Bike racing n things) / TT 2018
« on: 10 June 2018, 08:03:19 am »
The Isle of Man TT has been and gone. Only another year to wait...

Excellent racing all week, lap records broken in virtually all races, new faces on the top step and pretty good coverage from ITV4.

A few of the telly presenters were changed and the new ones didn't really work and they also changed the music from "King of the Mountain" to some namby pamby tune. As I record the programs I can just pass by all the yap and get straight into the racing which saves 15 minutes repetition from the previous days coverage and any inane chit chat from the monotone presenters.

Maybe one day I will actually go to watch the racing but unless I come into a lot of money I can't see it happening so I will stick to watching it on the telly.

General / LED Stop/Tail bulbs - Any recommendations?
« on: 13 October 2017, 09:30:46 pm »

Some years ago I fitted some LED Stop/Tail light bulbs to my FJ1200 as it was a PITA to put new bulbs in due to the ABS brain being completely in the way. The idea was that LED bulbs last longer and I'd have less hassle. The LED's were great and didn't blow so they were worth the extra money.

Fast forward a few years and I bought some LED rear bulbs for the Fazer as I had both standard bulbs blow on Sunday.
These one's I have bought are crap. The tail light is far too bright and when the brake is applied it is very difficult to notice any difference - I am suspecting that they've got the connections the wrong way round. Naturally I have complained and requested to return them.

Has anyone bought some LED Stop/Tail bulbs recently that they would recommend?

Introduction / Newbie in Norfolk

Hi everyone,
I bought a FZS1000 Fazer about a month ago - a blue one on a 54 plate.
I've already had to remove the exup valve as it was seized up and would not let the engine rev above 6,000 rpm. Happily it now revs all the way to the red-line. I may have lost some bottom end and mid range power but it still goes well enough for me.
After the last year on a V-Strom 1000 (a mistake) I soon got the hang of the Fazer and the missus approved of my purchase after about 5 miles  :thumbup  This is definitely a long term bike.

This was the advert photo on ebay

This is how it looks now after I realised that the stock mirrors are only for looking at your own shoulders.

Loving the sound from the Beowulf end can.
