Had a short power cut and a 3 hour complete internet outage last night, so decided to change the oil on the bike.

Rounded off the marshmallow sump bolt.  :'(

I never ever do it up tight either, but trying to undo it with only a ring spanner in a stupid spot that a socket won't fit, plus me being right handed not helping, it all went a bit Pete Tong.

Bike's just coming up to the 4000 mile point since the last oil change so no big deal, and new shiny magnetic bolt on order.

Sweet Jesus that's bright!  Are you running 2 H4 HIDs or is it a custom set up?  Mine has the cyclops look.

Put the old girl through her MOT.  Passed with no advisories despite an additional once over from the bike copper parked next to her  :)

Now it's lighter in the evenings, the list of summer jobs begins.  Brake rebuild, carb clean, headers need re-painting...

Thanks Adam :)
Yeah they're bright and not blinding, had my mate well in front of me and he told me and no oncoming vehicles flashed at me so they must be ok.
I really want to take them out for a midnight blast to try them but I'm generally sleeping so I'll need to wait for the darker nights :(

Both standard bulbs H1 & H4 but in 6000k HID kit and dual light mod as well. :)

I told him straight - they fell off whilst I was wheelieing over here officer! :D   I think he would have been more bothered by the brand new Harley if he was looking at number plates, but it looked mean with the black and silver

I know, I thought it was all about the donuts, not the colonel's secret recipe!

Finally finished Kebab19's fork upgrade with RaceTech emulators from PDQ1.com. First ride showed them to be a bit soft; need preload adjusters now!

And this is the last of a long list of jobs since buying the Fazer earlier this year ('99, 16,000 miles on clock but been garaged and unused for a few years) which started with full brake system rebuild (front and rear), full engine service, rear suspension linkage service, new tyres, new brake lines, and more little jobs than I can remember, or want to think about now.

Time to ride!

Took my stainless downpipes off and polished it all by hand. Happy days :) wish they'd use a better grade stainless. I'd pay a bit more if it meant not having to do this job again.

Did an oil change, trying out this new Westway Fully Synthetic oil i found on Ebay at a reasonable price, and replaced my mangled sump nut for a new magnetic one.
Full clean up and regrease of all 3 calipers.
Used washing powder to clean my K&N air filter, hung it out to dry then re-oiled it.
Lubed clutch cable, gear lever, chain and brake lever.
Then gave the whole bike a good scrub and clean up.  :D
