For Sale & Wanted / ZX10R D7F (2007) - Ideal summer toy!
« on: 24 May 2017, 12:51:39 pm »
Looking at selling my 2007 ZX10R , thought I'd put up on here to see if there's any interest. High level summary is that its a cracking bike (bloody fast and handles fantastically) but I'm just not getting a chance to use it so would rather free up some cash to go towards doing up the house and see it go to a good home than let it sit for months in the garage!

High level info:
- 2007 plate, D7F (no generator issues on this model)
- circa 25k miles
- Partial service history. Serviced before I bought it at circa 23k miles, I've since done a full standard service (adjustment, oil, oil filter, air filter, coolant, spark plugs, brake fluid etc).
- Black
- Excellent tyres, Michelin Pilot Power 3 with <500miles
- Good chain and sprockets - O.E front, heavy duty gold chain and supersprox rear fitted circa 3k miles ago (when I bought bike)

Modifications are as follows:
- R&G crash protection (crash bungs, rad guard, bobbins, bar end protectors)
- Akrapovic end cans and Power Commander V (circa 165hp at rear wheel). Also have a decat mid pipe to go on I'll throw in which basically turns the exhaust into a race system (most restriction in this model is in the mid pipe with the headers of good quality). All bits needed to run without error message (02 blanking plugs, servo motor removal kit etc.) fitted
- Carbon engine casings/protectors
- Carbon mudguard, chainguard
- Heated grips (Oxford sports)
- Rear seat cowl (pillion seat included)
- Gear indicator
- Nissin brake calipers & braided lines (no fading issues as can happen with standard Tokicos)
- Scottoiler

In this state I'm looking for offers of around low-mid £4ks.

Have also a number of other mods that were fitted that I'd be happy to refit at an agreed cost including:
- Brembo RCS master cylinder and matching clutch perch
- Ohlins shock
- Giles rearsets
- Giles adjustable handlebars
- Giles chain adjusters
- Bagster tank bag
- Carbon ram air covers

Ideal toy for summer - any interested parties please get in touch! Bike located in NW Kent / SE London region.

Interesting one this - I've always thought of the MT series as the Fazers replacement, which seems to be echoed in the number of ex Fazer owners moving onto them!

Hi chaps,

Not sure if we've got any fans on here but I've got some tickets I'm looking to shift on - got both seated and standing tickets to shift. Not looking to make a profit off here - just cost value + postage.

Any interested takers, drop me a P.M!

Cheers,

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZS 1000 Givi Rack
« on: 23 May 2016, 10:09:12 pm »
Are there two versions of this rack, one with adjustable mounting points and one without? All I can find online is the one I used to own myself, which just has four bolts that mount the plate straight to the rack without the adjustable hinges. I have found pictures online though showing the adjustable ones which I'd much prefer, always found the fixed rack a bit too close for comfort on the FZS

For Sale & Wanted / Red 02 Foxeye for sale
« on: 29 October 2015, 03:12:20 pm »
Anyone on here looking for a red foxeye? My old man is looking to sell his (was mine before hand) - about 30k miles on the clock, good running condition, was serviced during my ownership and during my dads. He's been using it to commute on so condition isn't fantastic but it really isn't too bad for a 13 year old bike to be honest and could be cleaned up quite nicely!

One current running issue - for no apparent reason every now and again when riding the clock needles drop to zero and then back up, doesn't affect the bike at all other than on the clocks. Our current suspicion is a dying battery so he's got a replacement on the way.

Can get photos up if there's any interest?

He's looking for £1600 ONO, and the bike is located in Bexley, Kent.

FZS600 Fazer / Electrical Issue..
« on: 01 September 2015, 11:36:55 am »
On my dad's 2003 foxeye.

Basically as he's riding long, the clocks will flick off and back on again relatively frequently (say once a minute or so). Both needles drop, any indicator lights on flash off, and then it'll come back online again. Bike continues to run just fine during it, its literally just the clocks playing around it seems.

Any ideas where to start?

After a PCV for my 07 Zx10r - anyone bought one recently at a good price and can recommend a retailer?

FZS600 Fazer / FZS600 Rear Caliper
« on: 26 April 2015, 10:41:00 pm »
Another one on my dad's bike - one piston is well and truly jammed tight!

Looking at FZS1000 calipers but they seem to be few and far between - I've also read that the XJR1300 caliper will fit (if it's a bluespot) - has anyone on here done that swap and can say for certain that the XJR1300 does fit?

If anyone needs a set remotely soon I'd recommend having a nose on this site:

http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/

Bloody good prices, and they've a sale on. Free postage too! I've ordered about 3 pairs now and all have come within 3 days - with the prices on the Road 4s I'm considering buying a pair or two and sticking them in the garage to keep for when I need them!

General / Brembo Pads
« on: 02 February 2015, 11:02:17 pm »
Anyone used the brembo pads on here?

Not sure whether to go for the SA or carbon compound - the SA is designed for fast road use which isn't really what I'm doing on the 9 commuting into work so was leaning more towards the carbon?

Is the neoprene hand grip covers I want? The one for bar ends?

Any of you chaps use them, and would be able to recommend a specific make/model?

My girlfriend isn't particularly confident on the bike, so wired up a really old cheapy set I had knocking around and it definitely helped, but being cheap at anything above about 50mph there was a whole load of wind noise and not a lot of speaking noise!

General / Meta 357T v2 Alarm
« on: 20 June 2014, 04:51:47 pm »
Hi guys, Anyone on here got any knowledge 0f these alarms or of alarms in general? (other than ripping it out?) After 10 years of service, the 357T fitted to my old FZS600 has now stopped working as it should (dead internal battery), and so my dad has had to take it out of the bike to stop it immobilising. There's two plugs on it, one of which is a little white one (the starter circuit breaker), so by bridging that wire the start circuit will activate as it should. Then there's another kill on it, which I'm not 100% sure but I think is probably wired into the spark plug circuit (as without this bridged the bike will turn over, but not fire up). After having bridged that, the bike will start and run as normal, except, weirdly the following problem Basically the indicators, but only the left hand side cut the power? It's a bit weird as they actually cut the power perfectly in time with the indicator flashing on, almost like someone is flicking the kill switch on and off? If the bikes ticking over then it just uts out, but if its revving it just basically misses and the revs drop every time the indicator flashes? Does anyone have any possible ideas how this could be wired up to have this effect? We'd rather not remove the alarm as my da is probably going to just buy another alarm block and plug it in, for hopefully another 10 years of decent service!

FZ6 / Fazer / Givi Help..
« on: 26 May 2014, 10:41:09 pm »
Hi guys,

Having read Kevin's guide on fitting an FZ6 rack to an FZS 600, I was wondering about whether it would perhaps be possible to do a similar thing to my ZX9R!
I was wondering if there was anyone around that had an first gen FZ6, with the Givi Side Pannier rails (PL351) fitted, that could perhaps give me a few measurements?

The three main ones that I'm after are:
The distance (straight line) between the mounting point at the rear footpeg and where the rack bolts to the top box rails (top right as you stand on the left of the bike looking at it)
The length of the bar going from the rear footrest to the square bracket bit that actually holds the pannier
and
The length of the top of that "square bracket" bit?

Hope someone understands what I mean!

Cheers!

General / Scottoiler Potential Discount? - UPDATE 17/04/2014
« on: 17 April 2014, 10:59:52 am »
Sorry about the delay in this so far guys, been incredibly busy at uni but now back onto it. (Not trying to lessen the discount offered directly at Scottoiler and sorted by bbb, but I think we can probably sort more of a discount out!)

Seller I had approached, had originally set his discount at:
3-5 = 5%, 6-10 = 10%, 11+ = 15%

This would be on his prices of £104.50 for the Scottoiler touring setup, or £69.95 for the V-System (with a free dual injector).

What I am now trying to do is clarify the exact nature of the deal, so as to what postage would be (whether he could discount it further, to post everything in one big block to me to then post out, which I suspect would be easiest for both of us, and I'm certainly happy to do so), and also to whether there would be a possible slight addition of a further discount if I paid directly through PayPal, or over the phone via debit/credit card.

So, once again, who would be interested given the prices above, and in what kit? If you could just pop underneath what kit you'd be interested in (bare in mind this would hopefully be sorted in the next week or so, so will be quite a quick thing)

Cheers!

General / Scottoiler Potential Discount? - UPDATE 11/03/2014
« on: 10 March 2014, 06:18:09 pm »
Would anyone perhaps be interested in a group buy for scottoilers? it's something I've done a couple of times on another forum and generally works out pretty well, sellers are quite often happy to give a 10-20% discount if you can get a group of people together to buy a product?
Comment on here if you would be interested and I'll send a few emails out if there seems to be some interest?

EDIT:
Seller I approached has expressed interest, have so far got his rates at
3-5 = 5%, 6-10 = 10% 11+ = 15%
Which at his prices work out as
Scottoiler V-System (with free dual injector thrown in)
RRP: £89.95
3-5: £79 posted, 6-10: £75 posted 11+: £72 posted

Scottoiler Touring System
RRP: £125
3-5: £103 posted, 6-10: £97 posted, 11= £93

Might be able to knock him down a bit more if we pay outside eBay and don't have to pay final value fees, will be checking tomorrow!

General / Where to buy genuine Yamaha parts?

After an R6 throttle tube for my ZX9R (it's 1/6 turn, so will make it a lot quicker to WOT) - but was wondering what the best place was to buy from?
Cornwall Kawasaki and David Silver have always had my money before for Kwak/Honda parts, but I've never had to buy anything for a Yam?

General / Heated Grips and Tape
« on: 19 December 2013, 06:04:29 pm »
Hey guys,

Sure it was on here that I read about it, but I can't seem to find it in the search box!

My Oxford hot grips, although hot, have always noticably been hotter on the throttle side, which I thought was just part and parcel of the heated grips. Seem to remember someone saying though that the cause was the non-throttle side being on the bare bar, which conducts the heat away a lot faster than the plastic throttle grip, meaning that side gets holder. He then went on to say that he overcame this by sticking some kind of tape on the bar before putting the grips on? Does anyone have any idea what I'm on about? I think I remember it bheing called "insulation tape", is this some kind of heat specific one, or is it like electrical insulation tape (or are they the same?)

Cheers!

(I've had enough of a slightly cool left hand and a slightly too hot right hand on max settings, so if I can get the l;eft up I can have the grips on 75% and be perfectly happy!)

FZS600 Fazer / Starting Issue
« on: 27 November 2013, 02:21:31 pm »
Got a bit of an odd starting issue guys, was wondering if I could have some suggestions as to possible causes:

Basically, the bike is proving to be an arse to start in the morning after its sat over night. It churns over fine on the button, and the battery is good (99.9% sure on that - used a trickle charger on it, it didn't charge for long before it said it was topped out, and the battery spins the starter motor over for ages).
It spins over for a while, and then eventually starts - when it does, there is always quite a loud "BANG" from the exhaust.
Once its started, it's fine; it runs completely normally, and I can turn it off and on again and restart it as many times as I want - it's just the initial starting that's a PITA!

Now that's the "always" route, I'm not sure whether this is connected or whether it's coincidence, but the three times it's done this now I've tried to start it for a while, it won't start, I turn the ignition off and on again and then it starts with its exhaust bang.

So, any suggestions as to what I should be looking for?

For anyone going, take both parts of your license!

I didn't, and it meant I couldn't have a test ride on anything when I was offered   :o
