FZS600 Fazer / [SOLVED] Front Sprocket cover bolts
« on: 08 August 2014, 02:58:47 pm »
Guys,

Getting a little confused.

Short story : commuting home from work, gear lever refused to changed gears (mega stiff) and clutch lever had a lot of excess play)

got home and tightened up the cable (at the locking nut mechanism). I also took the front sprocket cover off to make sure everything was ok (wee bit of spring clean and a bit of lube)

but - i noticed a couple of bolts were missing.

Checked the PDF (I have a FZS 600 Foxeye Year 2003 - guide indicates 2002) and the parts catalog indicates that there should be 2 bolts and a Dowel. Was there a change between 2003 and 2002?

Page 15 of the PDF guide (Cover / Crankcase)

or am I needing new eyes?

Just looking for the bolt sizes to get some new ones.

FZS600 Fazer / Front Sprocket Cover
« on: 14 February 2014, 08:04:29 am »
Hi,

Trying to remove the Front Sprockey cover on FZS600 '03 - is it just a matter of undoing the 5 holding bolts?

I've already removed the left hand footrest and linkage. 5 bolts are "out" but cover doesn't want to "shift".

don't want to use anymore force in case I break it (im good at breaking things)

FZS600 Fazer / Rear Wheel Removal
« on: 30 August 2013, 11:08:09 pm »
guys,

brains fried from travelling.

Whats the easiest way of removing the rear wheel of a FZS600 (2003 Foxeye)

do I undo the nut on the LHS of the wheel (on the side of the chain and lift the wheel out of the brake or is it absolutely necessary to remove the brakes too?

Bring Motorcycle road tax inline with that of carsResponsible department: Department for TransportCars pay road tax on based on the emissions.Motorcycles pay road tax based on their CCFor most motorcycles, if they were cars, they'd pay no tax whatsoever...... but as Motorcycle's are still taxed based on the old method of judging their CC, motorcycles over 600cc pay £78 a year.So a Toyota Aygo or Citreon C1, a tax class B car, pays just £20 a year, producing 139gm of Co2.......but a Honda VFR making just 16.5g of CO2, pays £78 a year, nearly 4 times as much.Motorcycles take up next to no room, are far less emitting than cars, cause far less wear/tear on the road surfaces and reduce traffic. It's about time this fundamental unfairness was addressed, and motorcycle tax based on emission on the same basis as cars.It is either discrimination against motorcyclists, or blatant milking of us for financial benefit.

Involved in a little incident up at dunoon today - group of 9 of us off the ferry and heading towards the burger van at the top of the rest and be thankful. heading out of dunoon behind a couple of cars. one at the front decides at the last minute he's not going to over take the stationary car and slams on the anchors. Car behind them does like wise. Most of the bikes manage to stop but 2 collide.

Must have been an extraordinary even for dunoon. next thing we know the ambulance arrives along with 2 police cars and a police van.

Police guys were actually very decent - on giving us directions to the hospital told us that we would reach a 30mph zone so make sure we slow down to about 60.... :D

even talking to them it was plain that they were decent - thank god it wasnt the road traffic cops - they even admitted that they dont like them!!!

« on: 20 April 2013, 05:11:56 pm »
Just got my nose cone back from repair & respray and now looking for the decals that need replaced.

been searching through almost every site I can find, but cannot seem to find the stickers at the price that wont ruin me.

Managed to find :

http://archiwumallegro.pl/okleina_yamaha_fzs600_fazer_oryginal-1266431800.html

or

but looking for some thing a tad less expensive.

seen a number of threads on here about stickers but nothing exactly that im looking for.

Any other sources?

only source I had now tells me he needs the sizing/measurements - since its been resprayed, the decals arent there for me to size.

General / MOT Checks.
« on: 02 April 2013, 11:26:17 pm »
Had a bit of an off this morning on way to work.

Mostly cosmetic damage :

crash bung bent
nose cone scraped and cracked.
rear rack scraped.
rear passenger peg scraped.

indicator broken.

I have a spare indicator and have ordered replacement crash bungs.

Im assuming nothing in the above will cause an MOT failure?

General / Double D-Ring Helmets
« on: 29 March 2013, 12:02:29 pm »
Guys,

Got a full face HJC helmet with the double-d ring fastener. its not my favourite mode of fastening due to FFS (Fat Finger Syndrome) and prefer the ratchet style of the Caberg helmet.

However - the Double D ring has a red pull tab on one of the double-D rings to help to loosen when taking off. Problem is - mine was pulled off

Can someone confirm WHICH ring the pull tab is fastened to - im going to replace with a velcro zip tie.

FZS600 Fazer / Wont Run Without Choke
« on: 17 February 2013, 04:19:09 pm »
Guys

Not sure how to approach this one.

Got the bike back together after the winter clean and it starts and runs a treat - sounds good too.

However, I used to start it with the choke out, go back and close the garage door and then close the choke and the bike would be running sweet.

But now, the bike wont run without the choke part way out - i left it running for 10 mins, closed the choke and the bike cut out.

Oil - changed last year and there is enough in the bike.
Coolant : changed last July and enough in the bike
Petrol - filled up before putting away for winter.
Sparks - changed last year (with the oil)
Battery - new last year.

anything in particular that would stop it running with the choke in.

When it does run - you can see the white smoke coming out the exhaust

Cheers.

FZS600 Fazer / oops - foccing bolts.
« on: 09 February 2013, 03:48:53 pm »
Putting bits of the bike back together today - was going great guns until I got to the last piece (front fender)

Turns out I have 4 holes to fill but on 2 bolts remaining to do it with.

Need to gut the garage to make sure they arent lying around but I did have a box that I kept all the bolts together in

Makes me think that I might have used the bolts in the wrong place.

On the rear hugger, are these the right bolts to use ?

Additionally, when I was putting the exhaust back on, couldnt help noticing this little fella:

Namely the little black "thingumy" to the right of the heel plate.

What exactly is this - ive noticed that this is pretty loose and does it need to be "tight"

Thanks

General / Rip Off Britain - Admiral insurance.
« on: 17 January 2013, 10:38:00 pm »
My daughter (last year) came of the age that she wanted to learn to drive (oh dear god I silently said) but ew changed out car in September from an '04 Corolla 1.4 to an '07 Corsa 1.2.
I added her to the insurance as a Provisional License holder at the cost of £464. We have a multi car insurance with Admiral.
When I was on the phone changing the insurance, I also asked about the cost of insurance when she had her full license - the difference was an additional ~£120 (over and above the £464)
Today she passed her test (second time around) and I phoned Admiral to change the insurance to reflect her full license, credit card in hand waiting for the magical sentence " You owe £120(ish) pounds".
I just about choked on my haggis when the guy asked for £794.92
So, from September 2012 to early January 2013, the insurance premium has risen almost sixfold.
Tried talking to the persons manager - they werent interested. Not interested in adjusting the values, nor holding onto existing customers.

what a F**KING ripoff.

« on: 15 August 2012, 10:11:39 pm »
Folk,

We had a break in last month and currently still working through the insurance claim. The only item currently outstanding is the better half's mobile phone.

Our House Insurance company are looking for proof that we did not have insurance through T-Mobile.
We dont have any documents which show us this (she has been with T-Mobile for a few years now) and T-Mobile claim that they cannot give us this information!!!

Anyone on here that are with T-Mobile and also have insurance? Can you tell me if this is printed on the Monthly Bill received from them?

If so, I can use that as proof that we did not have the insurance.
