Found a very small hole in my exhaust can (2-3mm)..what's the best method of repair..? Heard a few options from pop rivets to self tapping screw, but I'm thinking it could be repaired by brazing..? Any advice much appreciated

Cheers for the replies chaps..much though I love my bike I can't see how spending more money on her to kit her out for touring makes much sense, I'd rather put that money towards another bike. I also fancy a new bike anyway, got my eye on a F800ST with full luggage which looks ideal. I'll be mega sorry to see the Fazer go, 1st big bike after passing my test & I doubt I could have chosen better..

Alas the time has come to sell my trusty Fazer 600…need something more suited to touring 2 up for next season.

1998 Yamaha Fazer 600 Boxeye for sale. Excellent condition for year. Full 1 year MOT as of today (15th December) with no advisories. Black in colour, extras include Heated Grips, Wide Stem Mirrors for better rear view, Front Fender Extender, Rear Hugger, Crash Bobbins, Rentec Top Box (can take 2 helmets) Also has 2 very recent new tyres, brand new TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). Included in the sale are a full set of rear wheel bearings (although they're currently not needed) and a new set of rear brake pads which are also not currently needed, I've just not had the time to fit them but will do if possible. The original handlebar grips and mirrors are also included. The bike has also had a very recent oil change and a new K&N oil filter. There's loads of paperwork included also, service records, previous MOT's etc..also has 2 keys. Mileage is just under 48k. Has had the dual headlight mod done. Absolutely brilliant bike, it was my 1st 'big' bike after passing my test. Bike is in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire about 30 minutes east of Glasgow..asking price is £1250

While we're on the subject, i fitted these heated grips to my bike a few months ago and they are THE best ones i've ever used by far.
Stupidly warm, with about 5 settings, and so far i've never gone past the 3rd setting 'cos they're so bloody hot, even with winter gloves on.

100% recommended, and a bargain too.  :thumbup

They just clip the fairing on full lock, but the guards seem fairly pliable so don't see it being a major issue. Will try to get a pic when I'm next in my lock-up

TPS now ordered (cheers unfazed..!) but looking at my old TPS I see that the screws on it have a small nub in the centre, do I need a special tool to remove the TPS..?

Managed to get longer M6 bolts from B&Q..the hand guards are now on but now just need to severely tighten them to make sure they are totally secure & don't move about

This is very true darrsi..but the thought of handing over nearly £200 for a new one provokes a bout of vomiting.! I'll be hoping to sell the bike early next year after it gets its new MOT in january, so will have to have this problem sorted by then

The bolt on the top is the original one that was holding in my bar end weights, and the bottom bolt is the one that is supplied for the hand guards, considerable difference in size. I've checked for the hand guards coming into contact with the wind screen & they do but only very marginally at full lock so not really a problem.

Hmmmm…?? Seem to be getting conflicting advice on this one, read previously that a reading of 3k revs indicates the TPS has packed in..? However I'll check all connections asap. Cheers..

Local bike repair shop didn't have any & I can't see any on ebay…?!? Seems they might be trickier to track down than I first thought..

FZS600 Fazer / Acerbis Dual Road Handguards..
« on: 19 November 2015, 04:15:44 pm »
Got a set of these Acerbis Dual Road Handguards, but have a slight problem fitting them. These hand guards fit into the bar ends, but when I remove the bolt for the bar end weights, the bolts supplied with the hand guards are considerably bigger than the bar end weight bolts, and so will not screw in. I could use the bar end weight bolts but they're not long enough. So is it possible to get longer bar end weight bolts, or is it even possible to remove the bit inside the handlebar in the hope that there is a bigger screw hole available for the Acerbis bolts to fit into..?

Rev counter is jumping to 3000 revs then back to zero every few seconds…best price I can find on ebay is £50, is that a decent price..?

FZS600 Fazer / TPS Issue..
« on: 18 November 2015, 09:13:38 pm »
Looks like the TPS has chucked it on my '98 Fazer 600. So I'm now after a replacement, do any of you guys know if the TPS from a 2004-2006 Fazer 600 would be suitable for my '98 model..?

Or if anyone on here has a spare they would sell that would be ideal.

Cheers in advance...

I bought one of those radiator covers from the same seller on eBay…what a NIGHTMARE..!!! Mine wasn't even close to fitting & in the end had to return it for a refund. How they can sell these as 'suitable for xxx bike' is beyond me…buyer beware
