For Sale & Wanted / 33 BHP restrictor Kit FZS600 1998-2004
« on: 21 April 2014, 08:48:01 pm »
Hi there, for sale below

Restrictor kit for an FZS600  1998-2003 model

33BHP restriction is applied to the bike when fitted

I purchased this kit from kickstart engineering please see other Kickstart kits for sale on ebay for further information.
They fit between / slotted into the air intake rubbers and the carburetors. I got mine installed by a local motorcycle garage and it cost me £20.00
NOTE: There is no  legal requirement to have a certificate of fitting for the kit.If you have a 33bhp restricted licence it is law that you should only ride a bike up to 33bhp.This kit was manufactured to restrict a Standard FZS600 Fazer 1998-2003 model to 33bhp.
£25.00
Any questions, please let me know.
regards Para300

Hi ya mate,
I may be able to help you. I have for sale a r
estrictor kit for an FZS600 1998-2003 model.I purchased this kit from kickstart engineering who are currently selling them for £60.00 on ebay (check them out). Ok they are selling them with the certificate but to be quite honest they're not worth the paper they're printed on. And for the record my insurance did not require a certificate of fitment
You just have to google certificate requirement for fitting restrictor kits and they all say the same. There is no legal requirement to have a certificate of fitting of the kit.If you have a 33bhp restricted licence it is law that you should only ride a bike up to 33bhp.This kit was manufactured to restrict a Standard FZS600 Fazer 1998-2003 model to 33bhp. They fit between / slotted into the air intake rubbers and the carburetors.I got mine installed by a local motorcycle garage and it cost me £20.00.  I had mine fitted for the full two years of my restricted period and still enjoyed the bike. Still great acceleration but my bike would struggle to continue to accelerate after 100mph ( Track tested )but that's the idea of a restrictor.  If it did come to it that you had an accident and the rossers or insurance need proof of the kit to prosecute of avoid a claim they would have to disprove you had a kit fitted.  I have the kit for sale on ebay at present for £25.00 + postage.  As your a fellow foccer I'll post them for free if your interested.
I hope this helps

Love the new lights.  Probably one of the best light upgrades i've seen. The original lights are shite.

Hi Hovbiker,
What can i say.  A lovely example of a fazer.  This reminds me of exactly two years ago when i passed my restricted test and i got hold of another excellent example of the mk1 box eyed fazer.  I must admit when you do get out onto the road you won't be disappointed.  Just yesterday i had the restrictor kit removed from my fazer and god i had the biggest smile of my face when i opened the throttle for the first time proper on the dual carriage way.  My advice is to try a decend after market can, and without a doubt a K&N filter if it doesn't already have one on.  Massive difference.  Check out my Blue fazer on page 7 of this thread towards the bottom of the page Para300.      Happy riding

Hi ,
I've no idea how the original post/question came out so small,  but thanks to whoever made it readable. Good job.
The feed back i get is to just concentrate on the oil and oil filter, and to obviously check the rest of the bike.  The reason asked is that I want the bike to be functional and reliable without taking the bike apart for no reason.  You could call it Risk / reward benefit.  The trusty stead is a great specimen and rarely gets taking out in the bad weather and is always stored in my garage.
I'm quite new to riding and don't have the knowledge and experience some of you old hast have but i'm learning and enjoying
Thanks again

Hi guys,      i quick question to pose.  To service or not to service, that is the question?I serviced my beloved Fzs600 April last year. I Changed the oil, Oil filter, Plugs, and thoroughly cleaned the K&N filter.   I have done approximately 2,000 miles since,on virtually perfect weather days.  I know fair weather rider but i'm asking peoples opinion on weather to do a full, part or no service before popping over to the Isle of Man this year.    I'm not being lazy and don't mind servicing it myself, but is it really worth  going to the trouble knowing the bikes only done small mileage in perfectly dry weather.  What do you think?

Got to agree.  Fresh look to an already fine looking bike - Loving it.  That must have been an awesome days ride, especially with that scenery in the background.

I see ,  We have a Mr exup on the welsh bikers forum.  I he can be, shall we say, a bit of a Prick sometimes cos he always has an opinion and knows how to rub people up the wrong way. But thats another story.
I've got to say though the Blue isn't the fastest, especially when I'm riding mine, but it is by far the nicest colour.  Its my third best friend after my son and misses of course.   Must be politically correct.

Your a bit young to be riding Fazers aren't you.  You can't be much older than my little lad of 8.  God knows how may times he's tried to convince me that he could ride it on his own, and then goes into a major sulk went I try to explain to him that he can't touch the ground.  I love him to pieces though.  He my best friend. :) :) :) :) :)

I've changed the nut on my 02 FZS600 during a recent sprocket and chain change.  Not because it failed but because of the failure of other peoples.  When researching/looking for the new modified Original Yamaha mod. I was shocked to find not many Yamaha dealers knew of the problem.
All sorted now though.  Piece of mind

Hi thanks for looking.  The bike only had 12,500 miles on her when i had her. She's great and has been the best start to my biking.
Thanks for the suggestion, and im on it now.  gonna try it.

Not sure.  Never had one..  The screen in the picture is longer than the standard screen with a flip so it directs the wind off your chest :)

FZS600 Fazer / Windscreen seal solution needed
« on: 21 October 2012, 08:54:26 pm »
Hi
When I wash me beloved Mk1 Fazer, a small problem arises.  Soapy water gets under the front screen due to a lack of a simple seal. The Mk2 fazer has factory fitted seal attached to the front faring to seal the screen when in place.

Does anyone know of an off to self screen seal I can buy or do I need to get abit imaginative to solve this issue.

People have suggested a thin draft excluder seal but as my screen is completely clear I want it to look professional and not a bodge job.

Any suggestions welcome

Regards
Craig

FZS600 Fazer / scottoiler advice.
« on: 02 May 2012, 11:21:12 pm »
Hi there, I've recently picked up my first big bike in the form of a Fazer600 fitted with a scottoiler. The device seems to be doing a pretty good job to date and i  have noticed that the oil will need replenishing shortly. As a result I purchased a new bottle of standard scottoiler oil. It arrived today and just as i was about to top up the reservoir i noticed the oil in the reservoir was of a reddish colour and the scottoiler oil in the bottle was of a blue shade. At this point I stopped. I am concerned that mixing the two different oils could cause a problem. I have heard that the oil colours have changed to prevent confusion between the traditional and thin oils. whats your thourghts on mixing these two oils or should i leave well alone and attempt a complete change of oilregards Para300

Cheers guys.  I'll be on this weekends charity rideout "the poker run" from Pontypool canal basin. Its looking like a good day although a bit cold. My cousin has just picked up an FZS600 MK2 after riding mine, and hes registering on this owner club soon. I must admit, it puts my mind at rest having the wealth of knowledge of other like minded fazer owners one this web site.  Priceless.
Happy riding Guy
