Michelin Road 5's, really good wet and dry grip with decent miles out of them. Nearly 6k on the last rear and still was just about legal.

I've found play in my rear linkage and wondered if anyone has the part numbers to get them from bearing suppliers rather than being robbed by Yamaha?

My seat is now 18 years old is getting uncomfy after around 1 hour of riding. I wouldn't mind having it redone with the gel inserts, anyone have any recommendations for who can do it? Cheers.

Did you struggle to remove the advancer nut? Tried to swap mine earlier this year but try as I might the nut wouldn't budge. Got a rattle gun but wasn't prepared to use it on the crank end!

My thoughts exactly PieEater, I reckon the rattle gun would do the trick but at what cost to the bottom end of the motor. Just not worth it I'm afraid.

I tried the in gear and brake method but no joy.
I have a heat gun for paint stripping but given there's oil and the electric pickup in close proximity to the bolt I decided against it! Any recommendation as to what heat source would me much appreciated!!

I've bought a 4 deg ignition advancer, but when I've tried to fit it I can't get the bolt holding the original to slacken.
I do have an impact driver and an air powered rattle gun but due to it being on the crank end I didn't fancy risking it, what has everyone else used to crack the threadlock??

It's coming round to service time and I was wondering just what benefit a K&N has over a paper filter other than being re-usable? Had the pod style ones one my X7 years ago but all these seemed to do was cause loads of induction roar!!

Just to throw this one into the mix, my '02 17k miles bike had pretty much the same issues as yours. Pretty sure the bike had been stood for a while too. Tried stripping the carbs and cleaning them but only got marginal improvements. The cure was to strip them again and put new jets and float valves in, also swapped the inlet stubs as these were badly cracked but not completely through. Did these as it's such a pain to get the carbs off and didn't want the hassle of doing it yet again if they turned out to be an issue! Hope this helps.
