Maybe it's a blast in first gear ?
:D
As long as it wasn't a blast from the past, my experience tells me there no good :lol

Done 210 hard miles today, lots of high revs and high speed :rolleyes
Low light came on with it showing 165, yes I know I should of filled it when I saw gauge going lower and lower but know I've also got 250 just tootling along to work and back so thought I'd be good for about 200 :)
To say my arse was throbbing at the thought of running out was an understatement but I knew there were a few garages en route especially on final road on way home so I kept going and wasn't nursing it either :eek
So I now know I'll get 45miles from when my light comes on, good yo know for the future :)

I am indeed :lol
Probably no more than 11stone with full kit and only 5' 5"
But the other reason for the miracle numbers is I've increased the size of the breather hole in the neck of the tank so I can fill it right up :)
Was only getting about 180 including warning light mileage till I done that.
Things I would say are....
When you fill it, always do it on centre stand
For say the first 50 miles or so, always use the centre stand.
If you don't have a centre stand on your bike, DONT DO THIS MOD as when you lean the bike over, the fuel you've got at the top of the neck/tank, goes into the overflow and then runs out through the pipe to underneath your bike and then you've just lost all the advantages of doing the mod.
I know from past experience :eek

I normally get over 200, refill at fuel light on around 190... and I've never had to put more than 18l into my '02 Foxeye

No no fellas it's a 'blast' not a blast!  :b
I guess sarcasm doesn't work that well typed...

Went up the freeway the other day, managed 350km from a tank, so 217 miles.

That's a useful mod!  :thumbup what does it involve, is it an easy fix?

Treat everything in life the way a dog would- if you can't eat it or foc it, forget it.

Piece of piss mate,

Open your fuel cap,
Look for the tiny wee hole down the neck on the right hand side (I think).
Find a tool that you can ease it open, I used a pointed bit of metal, (called an awl or something) small screwdriver would do too I guess.
Then just ease open the hole till your happy with the size :)
I wouldn't drill it due to fumes/ spark etc and also maybe swarf going into your petrol tank,  there has been suggested ways on this forum from using a cocktail umbrella to catch the swarf etc but it's fairly easy to open the way I done it as the metal isn't that strong tbh.

Only thing you have to do is once it's full, KEEP IT upright till you do x number of miles, as if you just use the side stand, the overfill will drain all your extra fuel you've put in :eek

As said earlier, I can get about 250 miles just tootling to work and back or about 210 miles with a heavy throttle :lol
Hope this helps you :)

I have an '01 Boxeye and am fairly comfortable with doing about 170-190 a tank.
My riding is 7.6 miles to work and back each day, pop the choke on (so that it revs to 2.3k at idle) for the first 3 quarters of a mile, then off it goes. The following (almost) 7 miles is motorway that blends back down to a dual carriageway, at a steady 75/80mph.
The warning light comes on after about 160miles and I know I can get another 20-30 miles depending on how delicate I am throttle-wise after that.
I use the RoadTrip app on my phone and average about 50mpg over a tank, but that doesn't take into account how steady/furious my riding can be. If I didn't go over 80 and rode for a long stint I'm pretty sure I'd touch 200miles a tank, but really, who has the time to worry about the intricies of all that.
I'm off on a biking holiday with my brother round Wales from Sat 26th for the week, so I'll record mileage for full days in the saddle and report back. See how much of a difference it is when I'm not just travelling for 7-8 miles at a time.

Foxeye MY03 in Red.
Done about 39k to date, 1 TPS down.
I fill it to the brim. I don't mind the extra time it takes to get it up to the top. But it does takes ages....

But I get 20l in regularly.

With that 20l I get 230-240 miles the light usually comes on just after 220. Then it's time to fill up but usually the following day.
Its either Morrisons or Shell unleaded and then sometimes over the summer I  treat the bike to Shell super unleaded.

Its false economy for me to fill up as a full tank of petrol weighs more than I do
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

You have a 22 litre tank though, so you've not taken it to the limit yet.

I don't know if there is any sludge in the bottom of the tank and don't wan that dragged into the fuel filter and the carbs.

I have on a few occasions put 21.5l in and on one occasion I thought I was going to have to push the bike on the way home from work to get to the petrol station.
