I was born in Scotland, (Largs in Ayrshire), my mum is scottish born,my dad is yorkshire born,my mums parents are from southern Ireland, her grandmother was French. Which country will I need a passport from?
Lads at work reckon I will be deported but I am just going to hide behind the human rights act.
Besides, as I keep telling them,if they could treat their women right and work as hard as me we would not have to come across the border :)

Try this link if it works!
I had to bypass my alarm and Chitzu showed how to do it for two different kinds of meta alarm.

I use baby wipes on mine,I just use cheap ones from Asda and they seem to do a decent job.My wife told me to try them as she uses them to clean our recliners which are leather.

I have got to stop coming on this forum,I had never thought about a different horn and now I want a better one!
I have just been on ebay looking at them and now I think I really do need one, even though the only time I use my horn is when I test it before the mot.

I was leaving my daughters house, stopped at end of drive to let a car go by,went to put my foot down and there was a large pebble right under my foot.
My foot slid about and the bike just slowly toppled over as i tried to kick the pebble away,no real damage but my grandkids think i am even more of an old fool since then.

Bike is now starting OK,wires put in in as per Chitsu`s picture and these also matched my neighbours friends kawasaki.
If anyone has one of these alarms fitted I would carry two pieces of wire just in case,as my alarm died with no warning whatsoever.
I had to wait 2 hours for AA recovery as they sent a guy on a bike first who could only do the same checks as i had already done, even though i had already told them it was the immobiliser and would need recovering to my home address.

Thanks for all the info Chitsu :)

I was going to sell my gen1 fazer last year after having it for over 3 years, the longest I have ever kept a bike.
I had test rides on gen2 fazer, z1000,cb1000 and even a multistrada but none felt as good as my fazer.
Instead I spent a few hundred pounds on braided lines,r&g crash protectors, heated grips and new chain and sprockets and then gave it a good service.
Apart from my recent meta alarm failure my fazer has been totally reliable, gives good mpg, comfy and can still get a hustle on.
I now plan to keep it for a lot longer and have just put on a brand new road legal akrapovic end can that i got for £140,a real bargain.
I still look at new bikes but its just window shopping as i cannot see anything out there that would be that much better than my fazer as it fills all my requirements.

Chitsu,it is a meta 357 so it is different from your pictures, the cable block is all black with no white part.
Thanks for the pictures and offer though.

I have dropped lucky as a friend of my next door neighbour had to do this with his alarm and it was the exact same model as mine so on saturday he is bringing his bike round so i can copy his wiring.

I also spoke to a car alarm guy and he reckons these alarms are failing because the internal battery has failed as they are now 10 years old and there is no way of replacing it.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / alarm removal
« on: 05 September 2012, 07:23:12 pm »
Has anyone removed a meta alarm from a gen 1?
Mine has failed completely and for the first time in over 4 years of ownership i had to get the AA to bring me home.
I am tempted to just cut every wire but i know this will make things worse.
Every wire is plain black and when i try to trace them they just seem to go deeper into the wiring loom.
Looking at some of them I cannot even see how they got access to the wires.

General / Re: Any time off to ride?
« on: 04 September 2012, 01:06:48 pm »
I work a really good shift pattern so get plenty of time off.It is a three week shift cycle.
First week:- Monday ,Tuesday, Wednesday nightshifts.
Second week:- Monday,Tuesday dayshifts then Thursday,Friday nightshifts.
Third week:- Wednesday,Thursday,Friday dayshifts.
These are all 12 hour shifts but the time you get off more than makes up for it!
Also if you book off the second week in the cycle as holiday you get 13 days off work.
I don`t know who worked out this shift pattern but I am grateful to them.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / carb balancing!
« on: 05 August 2012, 07:36:38 pm »
I was given a carb balancer a few months back for free, one of the older type with dials,so i decided today to balance the carbs.Everything was easy to do but locating the adjuster screw for the carbs on the left hand side was a nightmare,I literally spent ten minutes looking for it using a decent torch!I had looked at the pictures on Pats motorcycle page but still found it difficult to locate.
Now I `ve managed I`m happy with the results, the tickover is smoother and the engine seems to be smoother at low revs now.
Has anyone found an easy way to locate the screws? I was going to put a dab of white paint on them but I didn`t have a brush small enough or long enough to reach,I had enough trouble finding a screwdriver that would reach.

the problem with British Gas is when they are busy they still won`t come when they should and sometimes use sub contractors who are useless as I found out  the hard way.The guy was meant to put a new pump in and I had to tell him twice that that it was leaking water. When I complained about him I never got any answer back from British Gas.

« on: 31 July 2012, 09:02:25 pm »
I have done the the brake lines on many bikes i have owned , and I have always used two long ones on the front. My gen1 1000 has two lines on,from three originally, and  I have used two P clips to keep them tidy using the front mudguard mounting bolts.
Find another mechanic,do them yourself or get a mate to help if your not confident.

I was always told that the only way to truly "erase" a hard disk is to destroy it physically with a large hammer so that it cannot be used at all,as data always remains on it even after formatting or using a cleansing program.
