Buts It's not another fazer. Even though I was looking at some.
It's a 1990 cbr1000 f. Needs a bloody lot of work, but it was £150!
Means I'll be able to keep up with you lot on the ride outs!
-
Pictures? I can imagine it looks a bit rough for £150 but still... :D
-
A bit rough is an understatement, but it wont take much money to get it looking good again, just time :)

That doesn't look to bad for the money! What's it like mechanically?
-
Yeah mechanically its ok, did the 100 mile journey back without issues. Just needs service items, tyres, brake seals etc. Then I will get it tested and taxed and work on the cosmetics!
-
Good bike, Cam tensioners can make em rattle but a guy on cbrforum.com made a manual one for his, Some times adjusting the balance shaft can make them smoother and quieter.

Thats what I read too, mine seems to be ok, its rattly for 30 seconds then quiets down. Must have been done as its done 86,000 miles.

I put Buell pegs on the one I had and Genmar risers.
-
Lots of potential there, man! Have a ball... :D

Heh I always do! A whole new set of problems to fix, happy days.
-
I had one back in 91 excellent bit of kit but typical Honda does everything very well especially long distance, just lacked character.
-
I'm looking at a VFR 1200...

Hmm I was looking at them as well, but out of my very small price range lol
-
Nice project there ;) and it's cheap enough that you can spend a few quid on it and still get your money back if you want to sell it

Thanks! Thats was the thought about it, I have about 100 pounds worth of fuel in collecting it, just put a a new tyre on it. Going to do the brake seals tomorrow and take it for an MOT friday hopefully.

Thinking of calling it Moby Dick.....

There's a facebook group called Biker Booty and someone is breaking a cbr1000fj. It's tatty, but the seat might be a goer by the look of it. There seems to be 2 Biker Booty groups, but it the one with the most members and the skull for an icon.

Thank you indeed! I have spotted it and have asked if it's in good nick! I was going to recover this one, but if this is cheaper then happy days.
-
You're welcome! Good luck with it
-
My mate once had a CBR 1000, it was mostly white and it had a little bit of damage to one of the side panels.
He decided to break this up with some red stripes, it ended up looking like a tube of Colgate!
(true story, it was funny!)

I recovered mine, I learnt to warm the vinyl up as you go with a hair dryer and I would start with the fuel tap hole inc putting the surround on the hole if I had to do another.

New toy

Much shinier than mine! I'm tearing Into the brakes on mine, new seals, pads, discs and pistons, at least it has stainless steel lines.
