For Sale & Wanted / Brand New TFT Dash (from Danny) £200 SOLD!
« on: 06 March 2020, 05:24:50 pm »
Hi Guys,
I have a brand new, never been fitted TFT Dash from Danny. My original had a tiny glitch which Danny said he'd fix, meantime, he sent me a replacement, fair play to the guy and greatest respect.
The replacement is brand new and has never been fitted to a bike, I spoke to Danny and he said he has no problem with me selling the replacement TFT Dash.
Reason for selling; while all this was going on, I PXed my Fazer against a 900 Tracer, leaving me with this TFT Dash and no bike to fit it to.
I'll take £200 and I'll post it for free.
If you want to collect, I'm in Wolverhampton.
Cheers all.

I have my beloved silver Gen 1 FZ1 for sale. I've streetfightered it purely as a project and it's all done and finished.

I still have all the original parts including the clocks original and replacement fairings, end can etc, if you want to change it back.
What I've done:
Fitted a new TFT screen and a fabricated a bracket for it
New twin headlights
Tail tidy, looks massively better.
LED progressive indicators
Renthal bars
bar-end mirrors
Serious tidying up of the wiring so you can't see it
Removed fairing, infill panels and brackets.
A1 end can sounds great and passed the last MOT with it (no advisories).
Looks awesome and with the reduced weight, the handling is awesome.

About the bike, it's a 5FLV with 18338 genuine miles at the last MOT, it's only done a couple of hundred since.

It has an MOT until 12 June, but it is currently SORNED as I use my TDM in the winter, I'll put 12 months MOT on it.
Tyres are both good. The bike itself is very tidy and clean.
The bike lives with me in Wolverhampton.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / TFT Dash - First Ride
« on: 22 October 2019, 08:54:00 am »
I took the plunge and bought the first TFT dash from Danny.

Here is what I found:

Hardware
  • The TFT screen and bezel has a decent build quality.
  • It was extremely easy to fit (three bolts and plug, find a place for the two button control and thermo sensor); it was especially easy for me as my bike is a streetfighter and has no fairing.
  • I mounted the two button control on the rearward side of the brake fluid reservoir with the supplied 3M double sided sticky patch, it looks like it's meant to be there.
  • I mounted the thermo sensor on the bottom edge of the screen bezel as I have no fairing.
Operation
  • As Danny says, it is plug and play, the only thing you need to do before use is set the mileage on the odometer.
  • The display is clear and easy to read with the option of several colour themes (my favourite is the yellow on black).
  • The menu is easy to access and operate with the two button control.
  • There are some minor software tweaks required (gear indicator not always displaying the correct gear). Danny is currently working on this and an update should be available shortly.
Opinion
It is a great improvement on the original clocks, it displays a lot more information than the original clocks and is customisable. The display is big and bold and easy to read and is a genuine head-turner.

Thank you Danny for all your hard work.

Many years ago, I had a lovely FZS600 that I used to commute between Wolverhampton and Nottingham a couple of time a week. The one thing I hated were the poor lights, especially o the A38 in the winter.

I did a bit of research and found that a Gen 1 Fazer 1000 subframe would fit the 600, a little more research, I found the Gen 1 Fazer headlights and fairing and infill panels would fit straight on. The only thing I had to tinker with was the wiring loom for the lights, but it only took an hour of trial and error before I had fully working headlights from a 1000 on my 600.

If anyone is interested in doing this, I have all the components from a Gen 1 Fazer 1000 to do the conversion except for the LH infill panel and mirrors.

Front Subframe
Fairing
Headlights
Screen
RH Infill Panel
No mirrors or LH Infill Panel

£300

For Sale & Wanted / Fazer Gen 1 Fairing and Bits
« on: 11 August 2019, 03:10:46 pm »
I have an original FZ1 5LV fairing, it's had some damage, but is easily repairable it is Silver Tech S3 colour.

It is cracked between the headlights (easily fixed with a plastic welder or ABS glue, there is also a scrape above the crack, again, it is an easy repair. £75

I also have a glass fibre fairing for the same bike, I've sprayed Silver Tech S3. It is a patten part, I fitted it to my bike and it fits perfectly, the only downside is that's a bit heavier than the original £120.

I've since decided to convert my bike to a streetfighter, hence parts are not required.

I've also got headlights, infill panels, crash bars, indicators and an undertray.

I am in wolverhampton,

Hi all

My father-in-law passed away last year and my M-I-L asked my to try and sell his bike for her.

The bike is a rare beast, it is a 2007 Fazer 1000 with an amazing and genuine 7124 miles. The bike is pretty much immaculate with a couple of insignificant marks. I've had it running this morning and it started first time. It also has heated grips.
Here are some photos.

The tyres have plenty of tread but have a squared profile because of his riding style, it make the bike horrible to ride, however new tyres will fix it.

The bike is in Walsall, West Midlands

Any questions, please ask.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / 758 Bars
« on: 01 August 2019, 12:07:30 pm »
I just swapped my standard FZ1 bars for Renthal 758s with the intension of fitting bar-end mirrors (which I have already bought). I've chopped about 50mm off each side of the 758s, drilled and fitted them along with all the switchgear etc.; perfect fit.

I went to fit the bar-end mirrors (they are the expanding clamp type and insert into the end of the handlebar), however there is an insert in the bar (recessed by about 25mm) that is preventing the clamps from being fully inserted into the bars. If I hadn't have chopped off 50mm, there wouldn't have been an issue. The insert looks like plastic tubing. I'm not sure what the purpose is and is it safe to bore this out 25mm so I can get the clamp in?

Thoughts anyone?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Starting Problems
« on: 17 July 2019, 08:25:43 am »
I have an 04 FZ1 with 19k miles, it starts OK 75% of the time, but sometimes it's a bit hesitant.

On a coupe of occasions, it failed to start at all and drained the battery, when I put it on charge, it started first time.

When it's hesitant, it usually takes two or three attempts to start, and I have to let the engine idle for a couple of mins until it settles. Sometimes it just fires up first time and is good to go straight away.

When it's been standing at work on a hot day, it starts, but it take a lot of cranking.

When it's cold, I use about 3/4 choke, when the weather is hot and the bike is cold, I use about 1/4 choke.

Is there a mod that will make starting consistent?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Clock Swap from a YZF R1 to my FZ1
« on: 08 July 2019, 08:27:28 am »
Hi all,

I'm sure this has been asked before and at the risk of repeating a previous post here goes:

I'm about to start a project, first thing to do is to swap my clock (1st gen FZ1) for an 5JJ R1 (00-01) clock.

First:
Does anyone have a pin layout for the connector plug for both machines please, I understand it's only a case of swapping some pins - but which pins?
I understand that after rewiring the pins, everything should display correctly on the replacement speedo (except for the fuel level because the R1 doesn't have a gauge).

Next:
The R1 cluster doesn't have a fuel gauge, but I'd still like to have one, is it possible to fit an aftermarket gauge by connecting it to the fuel level wire from the loom?

Many thanks in advance for your help.
