I used gauze bandage and epoxy laminating resin. Easier to work with than glass fibre and plenty strong enough once laminated. Lasted till I sold the bike.
Got some links to the epoxy laminating resin? and how flexible was the repair..?
It would have been epoxy from West systems (which I had to hand for boat repairs at the time).

hi mate, collection wouldn't be possible as i'm miles away in Yorkshire, any chance you'd post it? happy to pay whatever it costs to get it over here on next day delivery. also do you have the full fitting kit with the arms and everything? thanks
Its a complete M11 rack with 348FZ side arms so it just bolts on by removing the grab rails. You will need the grab rail bolts, but all the rack fittings are there. It is made by Givi and doesn't use a separate topplate - the monokey fittings are built in.I can dig it out and post a photo of it when I get home this evening.

I'm ok to post it, but the earliest I'll be able to that would be Monday. If thats ok for you, once you see the photos we can sort out details by PM.

Whereabouts are you? I have a Givi M11 monolockkey rack I could sell but I suspect I'm a long way from you (near Glasgow). You'd have to collect it to have it for next weekend.
edit - Correction -its monokey not monolock

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Wire connector
« on: 28 December 2020, 08:33:04 pm »
Yes, those are the connectors for an immobiliser/alarm. One of the black wire loops is for the starter circuit, the other is for the the igition circuit. Other pins on the connectors are switched postive, unswitched positive and left/right indicators. I no longer have the pinout details (or the bike) but its easy enough to work out if you want to make use of them.

2 mA will be ok. Would take weeks to drain battery at that rate.

Have a play around on some of the SDR sites like http://hackgreensdr.org:8901/
Will let you listen in, see how much activity there is on the bands and whether its of interest.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Raised / re sculpted seat on a Gen1.
« on: 10 January 2019, 07:26:47 pm »
I bought a seat on here that had already been modified like this (I believe raised by 50mm). Definitely helps with the knee bend. I'm planning to sell the fazer in the spring so I would sell the seat if you are interested. PM me if you want more details.

Decided that I'm going to sell - price reduced to £2490.

Kebab19 – thanks. I have tried adjustable foot rests that gave about an inch drop along with an air cushion on the seat. It does help, but my problem is that serious painful cramps set in after an hour or so.  Its now at the stage where I’m using the bike less as a result. I had a seat on a Triumph Explorer 800 at the weekend and it started me thinking that it was maybe now is the time to part with the Fazer – I’m 60 next year and want a bike I keep riding for a few years yet. Any suggestions on how to make the Fazer more comfortable are very welcome as I would rather keep it. I can set the footpegs with up to 40mm offset, but that means the gearshift and brakes are out of adjustment range.

I’m reluctantly considering parting with my Fazer 1000. I’ve owned this bike from new but I’m getting to an age where the knee bend is just too much and is becoming a deterrent to riding. It must be one of the best available at its age having only covered 17,300 miles and rarely been out in the wet. Pictures show the condition, here’s a summary of its features;
Perfect running order (as you would expect)
1 owner (me) from new (2005)
Full monty Ivan’s kit fitted by Mike
Blue (the later darker blue)
17, 300 miles
Carbon Can exhausts (std can available if required)
AIS removed
R6 shock (around 5k miles on this)
Venhill brake lines
R1 Shift mod (plus std parts)
Heated grips
Hugger
Mirror extenders
Exup valve maintained regularly from new!
Yamaha engine bars
Gear position indicator
Alarm
MOT till May 2019

On the negative side, there is a small crack on the left hand side infill panel and a slight scuff on the alternator cover.

I’m looking for £2700 or very near offer. Bike is located near to Glasgow. Note that bike is cuurently fitted with Garmin satnav mount that will be removed prior to sale.

It appears in you case since the Neutral light works and the bike will only start in neutral with the clutch pulled in would appear that diode 4 is not knackered.  :)

Excellent write up though ...
