another quality thread from our members and that's why I've stuck around for nearly 20 years. Come on here and ask anything (you'll sometimes have the piss taken but you also get great advice)
well done to everyone who's offered advice in this thread my two penny worth.......I've never experienced the OP's situation but I've had cause to seek professional help and believe me, talking does help. The male psyche is such that we keep it all bottled in and tell no one, we either explode or get depressed and top ourselves. You have taken the first step mate by opening up on here, next step is your GP but if you see him/her and say you're anxious/depressed then some give you a number to ring and you then get a telephone assessment before they make the appointment to see you. This is a tick box exercise......literally. The answers you give will ultimately give you a score and they base the appointment on that score. Bear in mind that the appointment may take 3 months to materialise so get the GP's sooner rather than later to get things moving. There's been good advice given on here upto now, heed it. As has been said......you cannot look after anyone else if you cannot look after yourself. The bike is the least of your problems. You and the kids are THE PRIORITY best of luck mate 28

unsure if the no win, no fee guys are good or bad
I'll tell you this much though...........do not be in any hurry to settle. A "simple" broken ankle could and I say could, give you long term problems that you're not even aware of. Try and get some "independent" specialist consultant advice and get him/her to put something in writing to the effect of your injury and its long term prognosis. On top of that, the private physio you're going to need (the NHS one will only last a certain time and its a short time......experience of this with the wife's Stroke) will cost in the region of £70 per hour and it soon adds up if you need it long term. Think long and hard before excepting any deal. You will also need new kit and that's expensive too, check that the other insurer is willing to pay for that. I'm not one for screwing the system as we all end up paying, but equally when it's not our fault then we have to make sure we're covered from every angle. Good luck mate and I hope you're on the mend soon rather than later 30

when we walk from Brexit with foc all......and believe me we will, no matter how good the Tories try and dress things up..........sooner or later the people will have enough and I predict riots
I hope I'm wrong, I really do. But if things pan out to the point about we're being told....lack of certain foods/drugs etc then I cannot see people standing for it anymore 31

ref the post about motorway gantry cameras saying do 60 and flash you doing 70
a speed limit is only enforceable if the speedgate sign is surrounded by a red circle as per the road signs you see. If it's a smart m/way then they have the ability to do this on the electronic signs but if any m/way sign just states a figure e.g. 60 and it's orange with no red circle then its only an advisory speed and you cannot be done for speeding 32

nuisance neighbours eh?
in a garden or on wasteland.........if garden ring 999 get fire to attend, tell operator you think its a house job........upon arrival Fire may let it go as a controlled burn but the proviso will be that if further calls come in, we'll have to extinguish so if it isn't put out first go................multiple calls from you and the neighbours there's more than one way to skin a cat 39

Windyg....didn't see your reply until now as I've been full of flu and would've went. Saw a video clip of the funeral that showed many bikers attending. Hope that was some comfort to Russell's family as it was a good show of respect

occurred earlier this week and most of you may have seen it condolences to his family, friends and volunteer colleagues, even with all that hi viz someone has not seen him. But to be fair, I don't know the road so cannot comment on blind spots etc. Be interesting to see what the car driver has to say 44
General / Re: Today's "What Gets My Goat"« on: 12 May 2018, 09:25:52 am »
yeah, lots of bad drivers but the thread is called Today's "What Gets My Goat"
emphasis on "Todays" fazersharp.......its the ale. a road with two lanes on each side, the ambo passes standing traffic on the opposite carriageway like you'll have seen loads of times. Oncoming van pulls over only for a goon behind the van to overtake and plays chicken with ambo the other carriageway has a broken down lorry in lane 2 with goons sat up his arse for ages all goons in the story are women THE END 45
General / satnav query« on: 11 May 2018, 08:05:22 pm »
anyone fitted a satnav to Pan or a similar bike that doesn't have standard bars?
by that, I mean if you look at the bars on a Pan then it's like having two separate individual bars (one on each side) with no middle bit of bar where you'd usually fit the bracket for satnav I want advice on the best type of satnav for a Pan (fitting wise) if anyone has done it/knows anyone who's done it cheers 46

women drivers
I'm not sexist but in the space of 30 seconds today, 3 women drivers really made me shake my head in amazement two x 2 lane carriageway, with standing traffic on the left side, but in lane 2 a wagon has broke down and has his hazards on......I'll come back to this an ambo on a shout approaches from behind and crosses the centre line to pass the traffic......at the lights is a 90 degree bend to the left and a van comes around that bend and pulls over to lane 1 to allow the ambo through who's in lane 2 but going against the flow a woman decides to overtake the van even though she must've seen/heard the ambo. The ambo holds position as he has nowhere to go (+ on a shout) and the woman in the car takes evasive action at the last minute...... I look across at the broken down wagon and two female drivers are now sat in lane 2 behind him, traffic moves in lane 1 and they're left sitting behind him whilst the rest of lane 2 changes to lane 1 to progress even my dog was shaking his head at the 3 women 47

I ride with the previous owner and it was/is taxed
system is down atm so I can't update anyway. I think legally I need to tax it, I can't take a chance with meeting the wrong copper due to my occupation as I'd get bounced in work 49
General / Taxing a bike/refund of tax« on: 19 April 2018, 07:38:28 pm »
sold me bike today and got a Pan, it's my understanding that the tax ends at point of sale and you tell DVLA who will refund if applicable. Question is, the online Government dept only operates from 7am - 7pm so I cannot do it tonight and I need to be on the road before 7am tomorrow. If I take a chance and ride to work, what happens if I'm pulled.....am I barley like when you're going to the MOT station with no MOT (dubious as no proof that I'd be deffo paying for tax) so what would the offence be.......if no tax does that mean no valid insurance?
bit of a pickle tbh |
