« on: 21 August 2020, 09:52:18 pm »
Had my bike Ivanised (slip-on) by Mike a few years ago. I know it goes well but decided to put it on the dyno just out of curiosity.

130.5bhp, 75.04 torque, lovely power curve and fueling is spot-on. The guy running the dyno was very impressed and said dont do anything to it, its perfect! Well pleased - Ivans development expertise and Mike's brilliant work continue to deliver.....

Linear as fkk, should do a tad better on top with a full system....otherwise...he is right!

I have one for sale if anyone wants it :)

Got to limper home so i drove the arms together with a screw....
Beer and ebay tonight! :)

DAM guys!!
The bike couldnt care less of the lost spring, when screwing arms together secondaries was actually more open and i think it was....peppier.
What i DID DO before "limpering" home was that i uninstalled the autotune again just because the connection was so bulky and i couldnt figure out a good way to hide it....
BAM and the engine light was gone...
When i will learn to just do one mod at the time i dont know but....YAY  :b

7
Thats the spring, NOT gone INTO the engine at all.
My 2008 looks a little different?
On the end of the shaft of the servo wich opens the seconds there are a nut.
Any chance of taking that off and get the arm off? Then one can ziptie the seconds open with the other arm i guess....

8
ALSO, have no manual here at work. The black mikuni part sitting on the servomotor....is that the actual motor??
Asking because it looks like a TPS...and then i´m bloody screwed.
If its the motor, can i just unmount it and zip tie the secondaries?

9
it shooted down in the injector thingie...cant get it up.

Do you mean the throttle body?

Yeah, tried getting hold of it with a magnet but its under the rubbers somewear :(
Anyone know what the spring actually do? Have put a straight screw in there now and it does the same....by the look of it.

« on: 06 August 2020, 02:51:10 pm »
So, i was to install copperdawgs flies. Had a torch and everything but absolutely no go!! The screws actually looked oval!

Anyways, i adjusted on the spring loaded screw a bit and became to curious. Thought i had the spring with one finger but no...it shooted down in the injector thingie...cant get it up.
Any good ideas? Got a motorlight now of cource.....supid arse me....

HELP! :)

« on: 31 July 2020, 10:12:57 am »
Centre-to-centre for the forks on the early R1's is 210mm. Same for YZF750, Fazer1000, FZ1, and FZ8.
I think the TRX850 and FZR750/1000 is 200mm. Later model FZR's (with USD forks) were 210mm.
Not 100% sure on that though. Better to double check.

Top stuff mate! So i guess that if FZ1 triples are 54/50mm ill be good just stuff the fork right in there.
Its sitting there with new rubber, new wavediscs and serviced gold spots :) Its a TRX front wheel but got the correct spacers to use the R1 triples.
Nice weather here today at last so will be doing some measurements to be sure.

R1 2003 was 160mm inner/inner leg. 50mm top yoke, 54mm bottoms.
Can´t measure the fizzer due to a frekkin storm today :)

Superb shocks, you mount the remote reservoir on the frame cross member below the side panel.

The only problem with these shocks is they expose the front end, but with a bit of playing that can be improved to.

Ahh, did not know it was just to take it off the top!  :)

Not sure what you're trying to do here.... Gen2 ??
I've done a R1 fork conversion on a Gen1 with 5PW bottom yoke + 2D1 (FZ1) top yoke.

Got a complete fork wich been on a TRX, but just want to use the legs and not involve a lot of stem changes and stuff. I guess its up to the width between the legs because lenght, rake and offset is just about the same.
Will go down to the shed later and measure the R1 width.
Theese fork legs are to good to sell with the Matris in ´em  :)

Hi guys and gals!
I have the fork swap document here so i have looked into offsets and rake and all. BUT.....
Has anyone looked into differences in the triple trees?? I´m keen on just use the legs but what does that mean in the lower departement?
I know my TRX used spacers for wheel mount...

So a 02,03 R1 one.
What where your plans for the reservoir? Guess you need to relocate some stuff under the seat? Also bottom is different yes?

Barends made it better, hard rubber in the rizoma risers also a bit better but not good. It was lead powder in the bads so got to get me some pellets.

Talked to a guy who owned a MT-09 and he said he had to put his old iPhone 6 as a gps because his 11 vibrated til it broke.
He also get white hands on a new bike, guess its a yamaha feature :)

From memory, 4XV forks are one of the longest sets you can get, whereas 5VY are one of the shortest?I found that even with 4XV there was a fairly noticeable front-end drop.

Found it:

After one vibration white finger session on my FZ1S riding back from Spain I filled the bars with diving shot.

bar end off, a funnel and lots of rattling and tamping.

Worked a treat.

Yeah, i remembered i have a 30Kg weight vest in the attic with bags & bags of small lead pellets :) Its going in there today as it seems to have stopped pissin down....!

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Still not got round to an oil change yet so not had her back on the road (weathers been shite anyways)
I made the effort to contact Yamaha about this issue and this is their response.....

Thank you for your email, regarding the Rotor on your 2007 model Yamaha FZ1.

In relation to your enquiry, we can advise, that individual parts from time to time, may indeed be subject to some form of evolution. This is part of Yamaha’s policy of constantly monitoring the quality and performance of its components and as such, it is not unusual for a part to be changed or updated at some stage, during or after, any models production.

Whilst we can advise that there is no Recall in relation to the Rotor on your machine and your warranty has expired, we are sometimes able to offer some form of 'out of warranty' assistance. Any requests for 'out of warranty' assistance are generally dealt with on a case by case basis through our UK Yamaha dealer network, prior to any repair being carried out, where due consideration is given to the circumstances of the claim, including but not limited to, the age, miles covered, service history and whether there was any previous history of such a problem. The first stage of the process, is that the owner would arrange and authorise an inspection of their area of concern at a Yamaha motorcycle dealer, also providing them details of their Service History. Subsequently, should the dealer identify and consider there to be evidence of a manufacturing defect, they may then contact our Warranty Department, on behalf of the customer, regarding any available assistance.

In this instance therefore, should you believe that your Rotor is subject to a manufacturing defect, we would kindly suggest, that you please re-establish contact with your local Yamaha dealer to authorise an inspection of your machine and providing them your Service History. After their inspection, should the dealer identify a manufacturing defect with your Rotor and consider there to be the possibility of 'out of warranty assistance' they will then be in a position to contact us with their findings, for our consideration, regarding a replacement Rotor part, possibly at a discounted/special price.

We thank you for your enquiry and whilst at this point we can offer no assurance of assistance, we hope that our comments may at least clarify the manner in which we proceed with machines whose warranty has expired and hope that through your Yamaha dealer, this matter may be resolved.

So expected there won't be much getting done (especially since I've already repaired it) my local Yammy dealer aren't going to be of any help to me unless I'm buying a bike so guess that's that.
I'm not too fussed as imo its just part of owning a used vehicle.
I suppose if it happens to anyone else and they take it straight to the dealer then they might stand a chance at a small discount off the parts or something? 🤷‍♂️

Would be interesting if they can answer on what model year they made a remedy on the rotor disaster!!

Just a couple of days ago read up on the standard bars and that they have insane heavy barends on them. (did not get them with bike)
As prev owner put heated grips on rizoma it has none. So know im going to carefully try to cut the ends of the heated grips and install bloody heavy oberon barends after filling the handlebar with some lead.
Hope its that simple! :)

Hi All, So after much deliberating with myself I am going to try using the R1 forks (4xv 5jj 98/99 type) but have seen that the later model (5vy 04-06) Look similar in design bar the radial mounted calipers.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Cheers Gaz.
Absolutely, i have a doc found online with all lengths, offsets and rakes for all years of R1 forks compared to the FZ1. I put a 2003 fork on my TRX way back and one should always know that you change rake and wheelbase etc when doing stuff like that.
I still have my R1 fork in the basement so contemplating putting it in the FZ1 just because i also have Matris catridge @ 1000£ in them :)

Cheers
