FZS600 Fazer / Grip Glue Melting!
« on: 28 July 2016, 11:08:57 am »
I fitted new Oxford heated grips during the winter and they're ace; nice and toasty and controllable when they get too hot; think they're a great product.

HOWEVER,  riding home form work t'other day it was a bit nippy up here in Edinburgh so stuck the grips on and after about five minutes the left hand grip was loose so obviously the heat had melted the Renthal grip glue.  :eek

Switched the grips off and they were cool and solid by the time I got home, but it's pretty disconcerting and could be bloody frightening if it happened to the throttle hand!

Anyone else had this and what have you done to solve it.  Tried superglue but the same thing happened; as did hairspray....

Thanks in advance!

FZS600 Fazer / Clutch / Neutral Switch?? Bike's Cutting out!
« on: 27 June 2016, 10:46:01 am »
Hi all,

Took bike out this morning after riding it home from it's MOT pass on Friday and it cuts out every time I put it in gear.

Sidestand up or down didn't matter, clutch switch apparently not working as it won't stay running with the clutch in.

Neutral light on when in neutral which makes me think the N switch is ok but as soon as I knock it into gear the bike dies.

Didn't have time to investigate as I had to get to work so thought I'd ask you lot so I can go home tonight and have a look.

Any help will be hugely appreciated

FZS600 Fazer / Heateg Grips too long!
« on: 04 December 2015, 03:35:06 pm »
Hi all,

Currently fitting some R&G Heated grips to my '02 foxeye to get me through the winter up here...

While checking all the bits for fit and size noticed the R&G grips are a full 10mm longer than the existing grips (125mm vs 115mm as standard).  I'm kinda nervous about chopping this amount off the grip for fear of cutting through the heating element; and the controls won't go inboard due to the notches on the bars so has anyone got any advice so get by this issue?

Has anyone come across this before?

Have the standard bars fitted which I like so wasn't wanting to have to get Renthals or similar just to get warm hands.

Cheers

FZS600 Fazer / Wemoto Screen - Any users?
« on: 21 January 2015, 03:39:22 pm »
Hi, has anyone used the tall screen from Wemoto? http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/fzs_600_fazer_sp/02-03/picture/screen_-_flip_up_-_tall/ for a foxeye?

Still looking for that perfect screen...

FZS600 Fazer / Blowing silencer
« on: 18 May 2014, 06:10:52 pm »
Hi all,

I've just changed my header gaskets on my 2002 Foxeye as they were shot (easy job - soaked nuts in plusgas for a few days), and while giving the system a wee check over I noticed the gap between the front of the silencer and the black link pipe section was blowing - is this normal as I've never experienced it on any previous bike and my basic mechanical logic tells me that all the exhaust waste should exit out the back!?
I'm kinda hoping it means the original can is duff so will help me justify a shiny new end can!
Any input appreciated!
