Hello guys.
I've something that is puzzling me.
I bought a used FZS 600 (98-99) that had no lean angle limit warning screw (under the footpeg). I bought ones from Yamaha, which I suppose are the original. I have never managed to scrap it on the tarmac. My rear wheel is totally used on the right side. There is not a 1mm "chicken strips" on the right side of it, so I would suppose I should have already scrap it on the tarmac. But that never happened. I fear I may reach, or go over the limit of grip of the tyre and may loose the rear wheel and crash, as I have no indication (by scrapping the limiter) that I ve reach the limit of the wheel grip.
Do you have an explanation for this?

An alternative suggestion...
Setup a Camera on a tripod aimed at a section of (private) road/corner/roundabout where you know you lean over extensively.
Then ride through several times. Then you can watch back the footage and observe your lean angle ;)
It can be deceiving, the lean sensation ON the bike, compared to how it ACTUALLY is from a 3rd person perspective.
Saying all that, a racetrack would be the ultimate environment to test your bikes lean limits safely. :thumbup

Wow. Never heard them called before. Fancy title that
Hero Blobs. Screwed mine out years ago, fed up with scraping them. (FZ6 S2 fazer)

I recall loosing two from the right hand side as when they touch down, they unscrew themselves. Never bothered refitting them again after that.

It could just be your tyre profile. What make are they. Some makes profile are the opposite in that the heroblobs touch down with at least a cm left on the tyre.
I usually scrape my toes - I curl them up now when I go around a nice bend. A lot also depends on how you catch the cambur of the road

Anyone else caught then on the top of their boots when they lift their feet up onto the pegs? Or is that just me?
Never on the 600, but a few times on the 1000. Still prefer to keep them on though.

Don't wear little girly ankle boots then. Tops of my sidi are already above the pegs with feet on the floor.

Sounds like you have PR3 or Pr4s on. Fit sports tyres, Sorted :lol

just wear doc martens - good ankle support and nothing to get caught one -and you can go the the pub and look good afterwards :D

Aside from the lean angle, the distance from hero blob to road surface is affected by the load and suspension settings. If you’re light then you may run out of tyre before the blobs touch down as you won’t be compressing the suspension as much as a heavy rider does.

Best yet - please don't wear Doc's , your feet are worth more than than that.

Scrapping your pegs is also a function of the camber of the road. very easy to do on a negative camber and almost impossible to do on positive camber. It also depends on ur suspension and load setting. I find it easier to scrap a peg when i had panniers on as opposed to an empty bike.

Hello Guys, so finally I managed to scrap it. I am a light rider (65 kgs) and my suspension setting is for both front and back the second softest set up (reduced pre-load), so maybe that didn´t help in order to scrap the original screw.
I put in a longer screw. I used the model of the MT 07/Tracer and asked a spinner (locksmith) to make one with 1 cm longer. So in total the screw I have now is roughly 2 cms longer than the original part. Still I use the whole of the tyre. So I imagine how close or over the limit I would be in order to scrap the original part...

Just bypass the side stand switch and leave it down 😀
