To be fair I've found it just a case of visiting the stations at the right time. Round here we've had the same stupidly packed forecourts as the rest of the country but last night I went to Tesco about 9pm and there were only a handful of cars so I walked back home and took the wife's car for her weekly top up and this morning I left for work slightly earlier than usual and managed to fill my car up at a jet garage near work as most people were still in bed haha

Just as a gauge of how far we've come here is a graphics comparison between Aliens on the Zx Spectrum and the new one for the PS5 🤯🤯

My first ever games console was a ZX Spectrum 👴👴
Before moving on to a commodore 64 then Sega Master system.
It's truly amazing how far it's all come especially when comparing to my current PS5.

To think theres probably more computing power in a modern motorbike than was used to launch the moon misson 😅

General / Re: Drink Driving Ban
« on: 01 September 2021, 06:45:07 pm »
Well I'm my local paper a guy has just been sentenced to time inside for drink driving and driving with no insurance while banned.  Obviously yours wouldn't all be at once but still a chance you could end up with a small amount of jail time should you be caught, especially if the judge on the day is a dick. Add to that you would have your bike taken and destroyed and likely your name plastered I  the local paper.
Its a lot to risk tbh

Obviously your bike insurance is now void so you would need someone else to insure it for you. I'd maybe try asking an extremely good and understanding friend if they would "buy" it from you, insure it (at your cost of course) and then let you use it on the understanding that if your caught you will say you took it without consent. Obviously worse for you if you get pulled but tbh if you ride sensibly then there's no reason to get pulled. I haven't in over 20 years of riding 🤷‍♂️

End of the day your an adult and know the consequences of your actions so nobody here can help you weigh the risks. Either way good luck and I'm sorry to hear how things have gone thus far

Had a nice evening at a bike meet/charity event at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre raising money to helping restore the Lancaster bomber they have there.
Hundreds of bikes, plenty of food and drink and a good time had by all.
They fired up the working Lancaster and paraded it around the airfield... absolutely marvelous machine. There is also the museum there showcasing old WW2 Bombs and parts of downed planes along with period correct barracks and mess hall.
As an added bonus the journey from my house is around 40miles of fast sweeping B roads so about 80mile round trip.
All in all a very enjoyable night and for a great cause!

Tracer 700 is a great bike but I don't think it does much in the wind deflection department without a stupid big screen on it. Although the versus is a good bike too I personally prefer the Ninja 650 as its looks loads nicer and it makes use of the limited power better than the versys. That may well be a sticking point for you coming from the 600, they do have a decent chunk of power compared to the twins you've mentioned above.
Have you thought about something like a modern CBR 600F? They aren't stupidly sporty but enough to have fun on?
VFR800 is also a good option too, can pick one up for a very good price these days

General / Foccer Font of Knowledge- IOM TT
« on: 06 July 2021, 09:45:41 pm »
So it's been an ambition of mine for a few years now to ride over to the IOM for the TT and now that I have a suitable bike I'm looking at what I need to be doing. The brother in law wants to come with and we would more than likely stay a couple of nights but I know nothing about where to start.
I'm aware that everything gets booked up fast so we are realistically looking at either 2023 or 2024.

So I'd just like some pointers from any fellow foccas that have attended in the past (or plan too in the future) as to the best way to go about it...travel, accommodation, rough costs etc etc
Cheers 🍻

Can anyone advise me how to get T-cut off of textured plastic? I was doing the tank and accidently caught the panel underneath and now I can't get it off 🙈 I've tried rewashing it, scubbing it, alcohol etc but nothing is shifting it 😔

A pencil rubber (remember them) and then wipe it with a cloth, it's always worked for me.   ;)

Gnasher you foccing legend!! 🥳🥳

It's not quite as clean as it was before the incident but it's definitely 100x better. Once I've given it all another proper wash then I reckon the issue will be resolved.
Thanks again 👍🏻

Ok, I've removed the Sticky setting on this thread.

I only ever read the Forums on my PC, so let me know if that makes it more visible for phone users.

Your bike next to a river/ stream/ quayside/ lake etc

I exclusively access this site from a mobile, I've never even seen the "real" page haha
And I can confirm that providing people post on the topic then it returns to the top each time which makes it much easier to see/notice 👍🏻
The stickies have their own sub section at the very tip which is easy to ignore

As for the challenge, I'll be getting my bike out tomorrow so if nobody manages it today then I'll get it done 🤞

I remember when you first got that jacket. Very nice, and a 46 Euro, you truly are a racing snake. My RST is perforated, but not as much as your Spidi.

RST do the same thing as that Spidi, it's called the Ventilator V. I use one myself in summer, excellent bit of kit. Feels as cool as riding in a tshirt. Mines a size 46 too but unlike sharpie's mine is the adult male size 46 🤣😜

In the late 80's my year of apprentices from BCal did a trip to Southend to have a general look around. We were also allowed, for some strange reason to have a good clamber all over the Vulcan that was there at the time. Not sure if its the same one or not but it was a good day out.
Pretty certain it's the same one

Although it's a commercial airport ( Ryanair etc) we get some pretty interesting stuff. UK and foreign military often use it for practice take off and landings.

I remember as a kid that we used to go to the airport after the airshow on the front as a lot of planes used to land there and let you have an up close look. It was part of the "airshow day" type thing and they would have stunt shows and a few stalls etc
This was of course back in the 90s when it was nothing more than a small airport, not "London Southend" as it seems to now be known.
Always makes me chuckle to think of some poor bastard in a far flung country booking their first trip to London and picking Southend as an airport thinking that it must be very close to the city, looking on Google tk see that it's less than an hours drive......to then be stuck on the A127 for 3 hours after they land 🤣

Have you considered an Fz8? There's a lower mileage one I  your budget, they are practically the same bike just with slightly less top end power

My favourite county Cornwall just on the news. Apparently they've had record numbers on holiday there this half term.
They said one site is charging 8k per week for a static caravan :eek . Madness.

I wonder if there's a widely used term for when you stay in your own country for a vacation? 🤔😝😝

Just got jabbed. All in all it went smoothly enough except the fact I had to queue round the corner and down the street to get in to the bludy surgery which would be fine if they hadn't insist that I picked a 5 minute time slot when I was booking it 🙄
But yeah I'm in with the zombie rebirth squad if thing so south 🤣

Some good info there guys cheers.
So autoglym is the best wax/polish?? Any particular one as there seems to be about 15 variants to pick from 🙈

And are the ebay chamois any good? They seem to be super cheap compared to the shops

It was only on about 16,000 last time. You don't think they might wonder why it suddenly shot up 184,000 miles during lockdown? :lol

Just tell them your a member of Parliament and you've been traveling essential distances to test your eyesight 😜

Either that or find a closer MOT station 🤣
