Might as well throw your £2 in a wishing well or waste it on the lottery.

Chances are your oil is slightly low.

To check put the bike ok the centre stand and check the oil level (preferably when hot) on the sight glass and try to keep it on the upper mark.

You missed my point little man. There's no need to put an oil filter on so tight you require tools to remove it next time round.

All the filters I have ever fitted come off again the same way they went on which is with my right hand.

[quote author=darrsi I recently bought a heavier duty chain wrench which is about 5 links wide so i'll never have that issue again no matter what i put on it now.
I have never required anything other than my hand to remove oil filters the ones I have fitted at least.

There's no need to wound an oil filter on like your life depends on it.

It's for removing it, not putting it on.
Really?

Why does a random biker who happens to be on the otherwise of the planet deserve a R.I.P thread? People die on the roads every day it is life get over it.

Tester gave my FZS600 an advisory for a bent clutch lever last year.

This year when I asked why he didn't give it an advisory (same garage same bloke) he turned around and denied it the lying bastard. Then went on to tell me it's a dog leg clutch lever.

Who cares so long as it passes.

You've made an ugly bike even uglier.

£600 and that is being generous.

OP If you've recently bought the bike a full service wouldn't be a bad idea.

Soak the plugs though with some penetrating fluid at least a few days prior to extraction and if one feels particularly tight there's only one way it's coming out and that's in two halves. ;)

Good luck with removing all 4 plugs without one snapping off in the head.

When I bought my FZS it had also been sat for years unused the plugs had never been changed long story short one of them snapped despite blasting them with plusgas everyday a week prior to extraction (suggest you do the same whether you take it to a garage or DIY). Head had to come off to remove the remnants of the snapped plug. That was fun.

You can jack the front end up with the downpipes in place just put a sheet between the downpipes and jack.

Shouldn't be a major issue, can't think why you'd want to take the engine out, just take an angle grinder to the weld, change the sprocket and weld new nut on.
It was the solution I resorted to before Yamaha recognised there was a problem and came up with a deeper nut. I changed the C&S twice more after the first welded-on nut.
Or worn splines on the output shaft.

Top tip when you come to refitting them.

A broom does the trick.

is that a knife or fork in the airbox?

Fork. I enjoyed a chicken and mushroom pot noodle when I was rebuilding my steed. :D

If you're talking about punctures I suggest you stay out of the hatched areas and centre of the road (filtering) for prolonged periods. This is where all the shite gets thrown waiting to inconvenience you.

Covers are a PITA if you're using the bike daily especially if it's wet.

I would just ACF50 the fuck out of it personally.

When I bought my R6 shock from kebab it came with a new spring, dog bones, spacers, and a high tensile bolt plus it was already set up for my weight. Not bad for less than 200 quid.

Goof luck getting all the other bits.  ;)
