FZS600 Fazer / everyone should bookmark this site
« on: 28 February 2021, 01:39:36 pm »
click the link and go to your model then bookmark
its the easiest way to find part numbers etc
and for the expensive stuff that is harder to get 2nd hand you can cross reference other bikes that use the same part and widen ebay searches
(not a huge problem for the fazer but has come in handy for my 82 gsx1100 and godsons ybr125)

FZS600 Fazer / various bearing sizes - add what you know
« on: 15 April 2018, 12:31:55 pm »
ok so after a post last week and my bearing issues i thought i would start a ongoing link of bearing sizes
please only post actual sizes no jokes etc unless you KNOW a post is inaccurate
please add the year of your bike as although it is likely the same a quick check through fowlers will tell you if its the same part code
- i am a big fan of SKF bearings and would advise that is the route to go

"2000 5dm7"

Rear wheel bearings  - 6204 2RS

Sprocket carrier bearing - 6206 2RS  - mine had a 6206RS which is only one seal and it truely shit the bed

FZS600 Fazer / 15w oil in front end
« on: 15 March 2018, 10:24:05 pm »
ok so after searching the forum today some old posts talk about using 15w oil in the front end for a better feel
HOWEVER
no one seems to say what they have settings at for preload, compression, rebound
anyone out there using the 15w oil with altered settings (mcn settings go out the window with thicker oil)
forget town riding as i will live with whatever it is - i want it set for when i ride hard and fast so anything as a starting point on settings will be an improvement to its current state (oil change is needed so will do it as soon as oil is here)

FZS600 Fazer / braided brake lines
« on: 31 January 2018, 12:43:34 am »
ok just been having a search around for some new brake lines (its about time i replaced them on the old girl)
and came across wezmoto , they seem ok and read a lot of reviews all over the place as when it comes to brakes i read everything i can on even the smaller companys (in case they aint had the good chances against HEL and GOODRIDGE)
they seem to do two kits for the fzs600 a OEM standard and a full length race kit (cheaper ?)
the only difference i can see is that OEM=4lines, RACE=3lines
i can only assume this is a duel banjo on the master cylinder and a line to each caliper for the race kit (positives and negatives on this)
i have contacted them to confirm if this is the case and dont mind if it is with my future plans but if you guys know anything please share your knowledge
i told them i am on here and doing install videos etc to let everyone know the difference so hopefully they should get back to me with everything we all need to know.

FZS600 Fazer / seat recovering glue ???
« on: 22 January 2018, 04:39:23 pm »
ok so i ordered a new seat cover to replace the torn split and goes rock hard when it gets wet (very uncomfortable after a long ride)
pulled all the staples as you would normally do and the bloody foam fell off aswell
question is what glue has anyone used with good results as i have a large selection of glues but i dont want to melt the foam and be royally screwed
ive got a day or two before i refit the cover as the foam is sat by the radiator drying out any advise will be appreciated.

FZS600 Fazer / touching up silver bikes
« on: 12 October 2017, 03:36:45 pm »
well after fibreglassing the hole in my tail and the grabrail holes i obviously needed to paint it
needed it in a rush today so shot down to halfords to see what was close
it turns out ford moondust silver isnt a bad match
havent clearcoated it yet but it will do me and looks better than primer over filler

FZS600 Fazer / headlight relays ?
« on: 12 October 2017, 03:33:13 am »
its 3AM and i just got back in and im too cold to investigate other than looking at diagrams and ask here

the 2000 model doesnt have headlight relays does it ?
if it does where abouts should i be looking
- im running twin dominator headlights with osram night breakers and not as impressed impressed as i should be

thinking of going direct wiring with a relay (last 30 miles have been a nightmare as there was no1 to follow)
if there is no oem relay i will just rip the loom and hide a relay under the tank
oem factory relay will get replaced if there is one as standard

FZS600 Fazer / dont try to vinyl wrap
« on: 07 October 2017, 08:56:14 pm »
well incase anyone else has the bright idea to try and DIY vinyl wrap there bike - just dont
holy crap is the tank hard to do, ripped it off and decided just to paint it when i can
it may be the quality of the wrap i used i dont know but will just give it to a professional next time

but there is only one way to find out you cannot do something - and that is to try
-except for flying using arms as wings - never try that, i promise it wont work - even if the drugs make you think you can

FZS600 Fazer / exhaust / dyno question
« on: 28 September 2017, 03:49:54 pm »
ok im hoping there is a dyno guy here somewhere

i have seen on some bikes exhaust headers there is a bolt going direct into the exhaust downpipe per downpipe (+extra material to hold it)
i was wondering if this is something that is used during dyno runs to set up each cylinder perfectly air/fuel mixture whatever
i dont have then on mine but i know it wouldnt be hard to fit some if i find out the right thread and depth of the extra bit of steel i need
so i am just wondering if this would be beneficial to the dyno guy when i finally get it ready to do a run to get everything set up as best as possible

i would see it being benificial as it would give a reading from each cylinder and not just one probe down the exhaust
anyone know the score

« on: 31 August 2017, 04:07:02 pm »

FZS600 Fazer / Buying carb mixture screws???
« on: 14 August 2017, 05:17:33 pm »
well had my carbs off again as i had to reset the float heights again as i was off a bit and running lean
and noticed one of my fuel mixture screws was snapped at the head
anyone know where i can get them at a decent price - £25 upwards seems extortionate
i cut a groove in it with a hacksaw so can still be adjusted if i dont get new ones

FZS600 Fazer / new ebay buying scam beware
« on: 20 July 2017, 10:08:24 am »
ok just been hit badly by this one
sold my chop on ebay had some communication before hand and sent a video of bike running etc (but after winning)
Buyer never came to view just emailed, after winning i thought buyer would come up and collect
paypal payment in different name and a courior came (i hold nothing against courior he is mearly caught up in this)
phonecall saying bike wouldnt start battery had died -ok no problem will pay for a new battery as i kept it on an optimate and never noticed (i thought)
nothing heard for a few days then suddenly money on paypal was marked as unautherised payment
contacted buyer and said he didnt want bike anymore make a refund and collect bike
ok at least i get the bike back as i had regretted selling it but needed cash
but hang on paypal has taken money back so i have no cash - buyer will not return bike untill i pay £1000 refund (thats 2k total)
reported to police fraud team but cant tell you to much about that
told him police informed bike now reported 'stolen by fraud' said i will even pay for same logistics guy to return it (so i can warn him)
im taking a big hit without that bike back and a smaller one paying for the return.
so looks like my streetfighter build is now on hold as will have to tear down the chop to see if any malicious damage has been done.
if i ever get it back that is - this is why i like to do deals with a viewing and a handshake
i always view a bike buy even travveling 200 miles to do so

FZS600 Fazer / shared carbs
« on: 26 June 2017, 12:11:18 pm »
anyone happen to know if the 2k boxeye shared its carbs with any other model - im looking at some k+n filters for a 99 fzr600 and they are pretty close to my sketchy dimensions (good verniers battery flat so using my cheap as fuck plastic ones which are no good for precise measurements)
- seen the price of the ones rubyracing used and found some cheaper ones which might work better for harmonic resonance if they fit

FZS600 Fazer / output shaft viable repair ???
« on: 21 June 2017, 10:06:57 am »
could do with an engineer to double check this out and let everyone know before this is tried was just an idea and i know there are some amazing lathe machinists out there
i keep reading about output shafts being stripped and i cringe when i hear the sprockets have been welded on (yeah it works but)
i will be stripping my engine down before long and i know my output shaft has seen better days so was wondering if it was viable to sleeve the threaded shaft after turning it down and having that re threaded
obviously there is litle rotational stress in that area so i thought by making the sleeve a little bit smaller and using heat and compresssion to get as much friction between the two and even welding through holes to add more joint strength just incase
then turning it down and re threading again
-what do you guys think cause there are only so many of these used output shafts around.
shaft repair?
shaft repair?

FZS600 Fazer / anyone know the swingarm dimensions
« on: 13 June 2017, 08:46:26 pm »
looking ahead and planning the full streetfighter build (lots of notes and sketches being done)
but as i need the bike as my daily at the moment i cant always rip things apart to take measurements
does anyone happen to have the dimensions of the swingarm pivot width and even better the spindle size aswell (length and diameter)
i seem to find lots of dimensions for other bikes but the fzs600 boxeye is alluding me
any help would be added to my book of random crap (should try and get it published)

« on: 27 March 2017, 05:37:42 pm »
ok so my C-Head came off today for stud drilling and i foresee the problems getting the carbs back in so going to fit pods
was going to in future anyhow so might aswell save some trouble and do it now
i think i have the jet sizes sorted but my question is
what type of carbs are they, what type of jets
and where is worth getting decently priced jets from?

-any help advice would be greatly appreciated
and if you have pods and know your jet sizes posting here wouldnt hurt (easier for others to find)

FZS600 Fazer / HELP really need some speedo advise
« on: 06 March 2017, 11:54:05 am »
HELP
my speedo packed up the other day so i stripped the front down and found the rotor sensor damaged
---no diagnosis readings given on rev counter----(did once while riding but only once)
new one fitted and put together CORRECTLY no snapped lugs etc
still no speedo, getting no pulse signal to the spedometer (white wire) just sits at 3.8V
readings on the loom side of the speedo plug
blue and yellow - 12V /  white 4.61V / black and blue 0V and earths
if anyone could test that they have 4.61V on there white wire would be helpfull as that is the only one i dont think should have any voltage

all advise will be taken its driving me and my father nuts (we hate modern electronics)

FZS600 Fazer / speedo sensor testing ???
« on: 03 March 2017, 01:18:50 pm »
ok so speedo stopped working the other day and obviously plays with timing as engine turned to shit afterwards
engine became fine later and rev counter giving the 4k speed sensor error
front off this morning and found the rotator is cracked and loose (new one getting ordered)
i spin the rotator in the sensor at high speed and getting no reading
does anyone know how to test these using a multimeter and the three pins???
(beware removing front mudguard - even after wd40 last night all 4 still broke lol)
