Cheapo Chinese ones are fine as long as you have are willing to shim them and possibly replace any bolts every now and again. I had a set on my Thundercat for 2 years and once fitted correctly they were great. At first the clutch didn't fit and both levers had quite a bit of vertical play. I used the bushing from the original levers to solve the first problem and a couple of washers solved the second so still not expensive.

I've got pazzos on my current bike and by all accounts they aren't any different. Just have a better finish which I suspect will last longer.
I've seen plenty of Red Chinese levers turn pink after a few months in the sun haha

I may be being naive here but you've said repeatedly that the noise goes away when you pull the clutch lever? So surely the first thing to do would be check over the clutch?
I've no clue what it could be but just seems logical no?

Mine just recently went on my Fz1 and i used this company

https://www.motoelectrical.co.uk/types/solenoids-relays/yamaha-fz1-yzf-r1-yzf-r6-starter-relay-replaces-2c0-81940-00-00-smu6153/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4YSS4Nyh3AIVS7XtCh0vtQ8QEAQYASABEgKVwvD_BwE

Very good and reasonably priced. Arrived within 2 days of ordering

That should be the one you need. I've checked fowlers and the fz8 relay is the same part number as above 👍 but feel free to make sure yourself just in case

Well that company was very good. The relay was £21 delivered. Ordered Sunday night and it arrived this morning.
Just fitted it and all seems well but only time will tell as it was a sporadic fault anyway but fingers crossed

« on: 15 July 2018, 07:26:01 PM »
I think my starter relay is on its way out on my Gen2. Been getting some starting issues,
This is not me in the video but it's the exact thing that's happening to mine....

https://youtu.be/XGi7yjGfNVE

Anyway my question is are all relays created equal? As the price of them seems to vary wildly. From £8.50 - £65??

I have found this one

https://www.motoelectrical.co.uk/types/solenoids-relays/yamaha-fz1-yzf-r1-yzf-r6-starter-relay-replaces-2c0-81940-00-00-smu6153/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4YSS4Nyh3AIVS7XtCh0vtQ8QEAQYASABEgKVwvD_BwE

Which seems to be from a proper company but at £17 it's about £8 cheaper than most of the used ones on fleaBay? And a lot cheaper than the £65+vat I was quoted from my local yammy stealership

So it is a case of buy cheap buy twice or are they all pretty much the same thing?

Not that's my kind of bike!! I ummed and ahhed between an 06 blade and my Fz1 at the showroom. Opted for the fz1 in the end just down to the fact I ride all year and a sport bike is no fun in the winter bit I still keep looking at them.
The older blades are so much nicer than the fugly new one too
Sounds like you've made a good find there, not many low mileage unmolested ones left 👍

The Yamaha Thundercat had ram air induction and the fzs600 has all but the same engine so maybe if your willing to do some modification then there may be some swappable bits or a way to make it work?
If not then just get an extra 400cc, that'll add some power haha

Thanks for the replies guys. Very informative reply bludcotn thanks.
They are already powdercoated gold but it's nowhere near the gold of the forks and I'm not finding powder coat to be overly durable, since I've started chaining my wheels up they been annihilated :(
I'll look into the coat involved and weigh it up against a finding a second hand set of aftermarket ones

General / Anodizing wheels?
« on: 23 June 2018, 09:16:57 PM »
Anyone have a clue if the standard gen2 1000 wheels are alloy or steel? And is it possible to anodized them?
I'm wanting them to be the same gold as the forks and the price of buying new gold ones is just a joke so looking at other options?

I also had this one. Its almost like a trick question. How many bikes are actually 50cc -Any? I thought they were 49cc - ergo my answer 125cc

"...if your bike is over 50cc’s you can ride this on the motorways in the UK – as long as you have passed your full test for the machine you’re riding!  You cannot take any vehicle onto the motorways with “L” plates or with just your CBT certificate..."

I think i would've said 125 as well. Thing is, you don't really associate people with a full bike licence riding a 50cc, it's just the norm that once you pass your test you get a bigger bike. I don't even think i'd really want to ride a 50cc bike on a motorway anyway.

Think this pretty much only applies to them Nut-nuts that ride scooters 800 miles to a rally you know the ones that spend more time on the hard shoulder than on the road 🤣
