make sure you check the sprocket carrier bearing aswell - it caught me out once and i bought a new chain sprocket before noticing.

98-03 carrier bearing - 6206-2rs (make sure it is a 2rs for longer life as its sealed on both sides)

Hi there!

Definitely drain the fuel, it'll be stale so get rid of it and dispose properly. I'd also remove the spark plugs and pop a small drop of oil in each cylinder. Then, don't attempt to start on the starter motor, instead turn the engine over manually by putting the bike in a high gear and use the rear wheel to turn the engine slowly through the gearbox. The oil you dropped in will coat the inside of the cylinder as they'll likely be dry right now.

And yeah, new battery :)

Best of luck
Mike

first remove the plugs and put a little oil in there , take the side cover off and spin the motor by hand first, many will say this is over kill but as its been five years there is always a possibility of a valve being stuck and you dont want a high speed piston smashing into it.
then use the starter to spin it a few times to get some oil moving around because that head will be dry as a desert.
if all is fine then fire those plugs back in and give her a whirl with fresh fuel (preferred high quality as it has cleaning additives).
good luck

yep sounds like either the float level tab has been bent off level or the float valve and body needs replaced

New pump fitted
New fuel relay fitted
Bike turns over, but petrol is leaking out of the right hand, first carb, over flow,

Any ideas amigos ?

Cheers
🤘🧙‍♂️🍺🤘

carb float valve stuck
stand upright and give a few god taps with a screwdriver handle or something, was a common problem on methanol speedway bikes back in the day
if it still keeps happening then carbs out time or at least the float bowl if you can get in there

one more test to be done is a parasitic draw test but may need a few others to give there readings aswell as small draws are to be expected by the clock, alarm etc
disconnect the battery +terminal and put a multimeter between and see how many milliamps are being drawn with ignition on and ignition off with lights heated grips etc off obviously
if anyone else does this please note which alarm system you have fitted

haynes manual says there should be a current leakage of 1mA (max) but that doesnt include alarm if fitted but i can probably find out the draw if i know the alarm model,

blanking grommets would work aswell but obviously need to be more accurate on the measurements

just search on ebay for 'rubber bungs' you will start to remember school days and chemistry class but you should be able to find some large ones

its in the bottom of the tank.
Lift the tank and make sure the electrical connection is good first. High resistance will show and empty tank.
exactly what i was gonna say, make sure all the connectors are clean, sometimes even just disconnecting and reconnecting can fix problems.
a can of electrical contact cleaner is a handy thing to have laying around

click the link and go to your model then bookmark
its the easiest way to find part numbers etc
and for the expensive stuff that is harder to get 2nd hand you can cross reference other bikes that use the same part and widen ebay searches
(not a huge problem for the fazer but has come in handy for my 82 gsx1100 and godsons ybr125)

Is your clutch cable adjusted properly at both ends?
That's what I would start with.
if its wasnt correctly set then it would THUD , lurch and stall not just cut out when putting in gear, certainly an electrical issue as its a combo of safety cut out switches not opening/closing a circuit
