« on: 29 November 2020, 08:29:44 pm »
I need to make a oil change on my 09 FZ1 and I need to know what washer I need for the sump plug, can anyone tell me and where I can find one, and does it need to be genuine yamaha? I have not been on for while due to a bad accident, but on the road to recovery.

I have 2009 FZ1 with a bos can on and that is all. Thinking about the ECU upgrade from hilltop motorcycle's. Is the bike still ridable in greasy conditions? Is it better than the PC route?

Great news, I'll stop flapping now. Dealer has confirmed the exup motor is there but no cables.

« on: 11 February 2015, 03:00:08 pm »
I am looking at an 09 FZ1 it has an after market can but also has the original can as well. I have asked if the bike still has the exup cables and they can't see any. If the exup motor has been removed would this not throw an ECU error. I saw no error when I road it. And it seamed to ride fine. Should I be worried?

Very Nice! Need to find out if I can actually ride a bike before I go an splash any cash. The mind is willing but I am not too sure about the body. Have you lowered the front on that? What sort of BHP does she push out now?

2 years off the bike recovering after accident, looking at an fz1 with fairing from a steeler . Anything I need to think off when looking it over. Its got 11k on the clock. They want 4.9k , does that sound good?

Spoke to the copper about the accident and said to him "that I normally filter down that road in 1st gear so that people can hear me as i have a race can on, but this time i didn't" He did bat an eye lid. I must be lucky I bounce well and copper did not do me for the race can.  :rollin

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Insurance Valuation, am I being Done ?
« on: 12 June 2013, 09:57:08 pm »
I could do with some feedback, I have just had the insurance valuation on my 2002 FZS 1000 that had covered 77K,  £1650, what do you think? It was in excellent condition with R6 Shock Mod, Ivans Jet Kit and serviced every 4K since new. Do you think that is a fair price? BLD are the people that have valued the bike for the insurers, has anyone else had any dealings with them?

HI All,

Thank you for all your feedback, I have just had a call from the police and they are prosecuting the driver with "Undue". The copper said due to government ruling he will offering a training coarse that he has to pay for or Court. Nice Option. So he has to admit liability either way!

I think I was lucky has a witness came forward and confirmed that he did not indicate and I was along side him when he turned across me.

Anger is now starting to ebb away now.

thanks again.

Right to clear up the issue of riding on the other side of the road, this is a legitimate position, as backed up by the police officer I spoke to at  the scene. I am also a qualified IAM rider and this is also backed up in the IAM manual. Where he failed was NO indication, Poor / No observation, as I was parallel with him when he turned. At the time I was wearing a IAM high vis top, had headlights on and a race can.  With regards to blame, my insurers have employed a private accident investigator to look at it and he has come back with the driver is too blame 100%. The police are due to issue there report soon so it will be interesting to see what they say. Fingers crossed they agree with the investigator. The Police are looking at an undue attention charge for the driver. I'll keep your posted.

Filtering past a line of stationary cars, going up the oncoming lane that was empty when a car u turned into me when I was along side of him. I was only doing about 15 mph. The doctors said that the speed and the quality of the kit I was wearing stopped me from breaking my hip or pelvis. The guy who hit me is try to do me for whiplash. The cops at the accident said I was not at fault. We are still waiting for there report. No confidence to get in a car or a bike at the moment. Really shook me up.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: 70 & Smoking
« on: 13 September 2012, 09:14:53 pm »
HI Guys thanks for the feedback, been monitoring the fluid levels and over 400 miles that bike has used just under 100 Ml, which is well within the design limits of hte engine, also the coolant levels have stayed constant.

Right now down to the confession, I think that the smoke was caused by me overfilling the engine with oil not by much but I think that I topped it up past the site glass. I am now thinking with a little too much oil and reving the engine it has dragged it up an burnt it. Does this sound logical ?

White smoke, but not allot. This bike is aways allowed to warm up before I push it and its normal journey to work is 50 miles each way. There appears to be no loss in power! I'll start her up in the morning and go for a ride and see what happens.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Is it me, tyres or suspension???
« on: 07 September 2012, 09:15:31 pm »
I have been using Bridgestone for over 10 years and the current 023 is an excellent tyre, just got a new set, the tyre guy was trying to get me to by the Michelin pilot road 3, saying they where a better tyre. I have ridden all summer in wet and dry and am quite willing to push in the wet and they always let you know when you are nearing the limit. 023 all the way.

« on: 07 September 2012, 09:06:43 pm »
The old girl 02 has hit 70K and I have noticed that the end can is a bit sooty and when you rev the engine 10 - 11K and back it off you get some smoke. Is this a new engine job or is this normal?

I am going to monitor the engine oil usage next week and see if its more than Yamaha's recommended oil usage. This engine has been serviced every 4K since new, and always gets a new oil filter every time. I do about 400 miles a week.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: New Clutch Case Bearings
« on: 06 July 2012, 02:15:07 pm »
Right, contacted the company and as I did not have any bearing numbers then they were unable to help, so I rang my local yam dealer and have now got all the bearing circlips and washers comming. All sorted thanks.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / New Clutch Case Bearings
« on: 06 July 2012, 01:09:41 pm »
I am doing some work on the olg girl (Fazer) and I am replacing the clutch casing with a new one I got off ebay. I need to know where I can get the oil seal and top bearing where the clutch actuator rod goes through the casing, also need the lower bearing inside the clutch case. I have checked WEMOTO but know joy, are they only available from Yamaha?  I think there was a link that Devilsyam put up for a company that did bearings but I cannot find it.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: oil warning light
« on: 11 June 2012, 12:16:39 pm »
My Fazer 1000 does this as well, I do 100 miles a day and if the oil level drops towards the lower level while pressing on, the oil light comes on. There is nothing to worry about, the fazer has a over sensitive oil gauge. I keep the level topped up to just over the upper limit and check it everyday. Another Fazer trait. Just include it in your pre-ride check.

Right I have a copy of a fazer 1000 belly pan on my bike, and its looking putty tired, I was told by the previous onerous that it came some one on the owners club many year ago. Does any one know if they are still available? How much genuine ones from YAMAHA? Or shouldn't I ask ?

« on: 30 April 2012, 11:55:51 am »
I have an 02 FZS 1000 fitted with a Datatool system 3 alarm, ever since I have had the bike the clock appears to set its self to a different time every time I set the alarm and leave it for a while. Anyone got any ideas why this my be happening? would love to have a clock that works.
