For Sale & Wanted / Re: wanted red fzs 1000

No problem. My Bike has now been sold. I have bought a Speed Triple which I think will be great fun. Only ridden a short distance so far and feels great, but I am sure I will miss the FZS1000 for its versatility.. Cheers

I have a 2002 FZS1000 in red which has been full Monty'd by Mike and is a great bike. It has 19k miles on the clock and is in great condition all round. I have added heated grips, gear indicator, rental bars, crash protectors , aftermarket can and colour matched top box. Well maintained and new Pilot Road 3's. I have also had the forks serviced and new springs and a Nitron Sport rear shock. I am considering a change and would be looking for about £3,000. Let me know if you are interested. FYI, I live in Bournemouth.

Hi Grayo. The guy at Racelab is called Paul and he has set up my Fazer too plus a couple of previous bikes. He is really good and very thorough and as you say, he keeps you advised as he works. Thoroughly recommend him. But more convenient for me as he is only 5 miles from home for me.

Rode 300 mile round trip to RaceLab in Wimborne (well, yesterday actually) to have my suspension set up properly. Wow, what a difference. It's a completely different bike. The settings were way out even though Nitron had already set the rear shock up for my weight. I've forgotten the guy's name who did it for me but can't recommend him highly enough. He's very knowledgable and a perfectionist. He wants everything spot on. He also explains what he is doing and why he is doing it, constantly. I would definitely use them again. Undoubtedly the best £99 I have ever spent on the bike. I am well pleased. Can't wait to get out on it again.

Hi, If you take the seat off, have you got anything blocking the air intake?

Check the air intake isn't blocked with anything. (Under the seat).

I have Oxfords on my bike and had them on 2 previous bikes also and never had a problem . A friend of mine opted for the R&G ones due to cost difference and had problems with them heating up and had the dealer that fitted them change the switch. They were fine after that though. Could have just been bad luck.

So close but never met. Shame, maybe another time. I would have caught you up, but it wouldn't have been fair on my mate on his VFR800 to leave him wallowing behind!

I thought the museum was interesting. Went there years ago as a kid but enjoyed it more now I'm an old foccer

The red gen 1 thou was mine Nick. I think I saw you as you pulled out to head home. Like the colour scheme on yours

The eBay ad says it fits the carb'd R1 and offers the same results

Hi Kenny. It's about a mile from me and I have seen it. It's a goodun, but I think it's got a deposit paid if you check the website. They also have a red one which I haven't seen but looks good and has had Ivan's mods.

Hi Mickey. The eBay advert advises the following. "These advancers are designed to increase performance and improve throttle response particularly in the low to mid range as well as the starting of the bike. Bikes are designed to run as well as possible using the worst fuel available in the world and so have slightly retarded ignition to help with this. As we have relatively good fuel we can afford to run the bike with these 4 degree advancers fitted and have the bike run a whole lot better". Seems to work. Cheers, Rich.

Great news. Have to say, since last full I have done 190 spirited miles on mine over the weekend and my fuel light has only just started to come on. I agree, the fuel economy seems to have improved a bit and the performance is not jeopardised. Low speed fuelling is better too and bike feels really good. I have just loctited the bolt so it's here to stay.

Out if interest, have you guys loctited the bolt on refitting? I haven't done as I wanted to see what the advancer made first in case I wanted to refit the original, but did tighten to 60Nm. I am going to keep the 4 degree advancer in my bike as I like the results. Should I now loctite it or is this not essential. (Don't want to keep messing if it's not required). Thanks

Fitted my 4 degree advancer on my Gen1 then took it for a spin with great results. Good cheap mod

In the Haynes manual it lists the torque setting for the "Timing Rotor Bolt" as 60Nm which is what I have used on mine.

I fitted my advancer successfully this morning following the feedback provided then went for a quick 25 mile spin. Have to say this mod is well worth doing as the pick up in the low rev range is cleaner and smoother. Didn't notice any drop in performance elsewhere so far. My bike was full Monty'd by Mike in May which greatly improved things and I think this mod is the icing on the cake. Thanks for the help and advice I received. Cheers, Rich.
