lol cheers guys. yes it does indeedy feel odd agreeing VNA, but its also a good thing to remember whatever our politics its a universal love of something far more important (fazers and bikes generally) that unites us.  :lol :lol
still got three things to do with the anvil...valve clearances, ais removal and new clocks binnacle. They use the same shims as old Mondeos, so thats a plus as im guessing there will be a few needed.
Only bummer is I may not be able to keep it. My daughter is getting divorced, and having a tough time of it. shes in a rented house with my granddaughter whilst waiting for the sale of the family house; if theres no money left after fucking solicitors fees, their debts etc I will have to step up to the plate. got np money, but got three bikes, wouldn't be much of a dad/grandad if I didn't do right by them. Cant flog the evo, thats gonna be my granddaughters, and the fazer is not only also staying with me until I shrug off my mortal coil, but im having it burnt and buried with me, in the faint hope that the eygptians were right, and you do get to take your favourite shit into the afterlife with you... ;)

Errr - not if you burn it you wont. You will have to mummify it. Maybe lower it into a vat of ACF 50.
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

A model would probably suffice. A lot of the items the ancient Egyptians placed in the tombs for the after life were minituarised. They believed that they became full sized when required ;)

Had a meet up with Flooky and a whizz into Brighton for lunch and a natter. My new front stoppers have started to bed in nicely now and have made a noticeable difference.

Went to the Talmag Trial at Hungry Hill in Aldershot today. Used to ride this event in the 70's, it was only for British pre 1965 4 strokes over 350cc, but noticed Cub engined bikes there today. It used to be a case of trying to buy a purpose built trials iron like an Ariel,Ajay,Royal Enfield, Matchless or adapt a road bike whilst conforming to the regulations. That was the route I took back then by getting an ex-WD BSA B40 and converting it for trials. Nowadays if you can afford it you can buy a ready made quality trials iron that somehow qualifies for this class. How a rigid framed girder forked bike stands a chance against something with all the latest tech on it I don't know. The sections don't seem that testing for a rider on one of these new creations.
Have attached a couple of pics. They're both of bikes I've never seen before. The first an MV Augusta trials, and the second, one of the new breed of money no object "old" British trials bikes, this being a Norton but there were similar bikes with beeza singles or unit Triumph twin motors, either 3 or 5TA,s I should think.

A frie d dropped it off tonight to do the brakes on it. Usual issue rear brske not working properly and it needs front padsHe only bought it 3 months ago, never rode the RC but did ride the 1190 Adventure type one a few years ago, a very quick machine, but to much torque for my liking. I like my high reving lower torque 4 cylinders

Henry Cole had one on his German Castle Route trip a few years ago, had great praise for it.
Rear brake has a similar issue to the RSV Aprilla, master cylinder too close to the exhaust causing the fluid to heat and boil easily if not changed regularly.  This one is worse as they changed the lower belly pan and it directs more heat to the Master cylinder.
A dilemma as to whether to use Dot 4 or Dot 5.1Dot 5.1 has a higher boiling point than Dot 4 but is more Hydrosocpic than Dot 4. Fine if it is changed regularly which will be unlikely
Might suggest the Comma Dot 4 ESP or Castrol Dot 4 SRF, see what owner wants to pay for.

With my usual precision and enviable builders 'fingers like pigs tits', I delicately 'fine tuned' my xjr shim bucket retaining tool with a vice, foccing grut big hammer and file, so I could see how the land lies with regards to fitted shim sizes, afore I check the clearances. . S'all good

Yeah, it looks like it's got more than its fair share of stories to tell :lol .

What was wrong with them that you had to  "fine tune" them?

Theres nothing that can't do with fine tuning with a 7lb sledge hammer, well  not in the building game so we tend to follow that rule with anything else, ain't that right ogri
