thanks to all who have help me in the past and present.
it has been a pleasure being on here reading all comments good and bad.
it doesnt look like I'll ever get a Fazer coz I've just bought a Tracer 700 and very happy with it.
been waiting for yamaha to come out with another FAZER look a like or similar.

Have also bought a Tracer 700-picked it up on 4th November-bog standard(ie no expensive Yamaha optional extras). Very very pleased with it so far. Yesterday went into deepest Worcs & Herefordshire & found some good roads for running in motor.
First impressions-good high upright riding position, wide bars for control-the motor is exactly same as MT-07. Stonking drive out of corners in 4th&5th.
Have owned a few bikes over the years but this has to be the most fun to date. Suspension is adequate for my 11 stone & the Pilot road 4s give outstanding grip.
Cant wait til the motor loosens up & first oil change done. Was going to have a red one but changed my mind to blue

in that case I'll stay.
I wasn't sure if I could contribute any info on the fazer as it has been 9 years since I had my last one.
must admit I like this forum,I find it friendly unlike others who are quick at being well let say unpleasant.
not to me personally but to others and I dont think its called for.
take a piss yeah no problem with that but getting personal I do object.
how about the administrator adding the tracer 700 to this forum it is after all a yammy and similar to the fazer.

Bandit eh Tommy -  :foc . Agree about staying with the site fella - a bike issue is a bike issue which can be shared and sorted. As said, other riders have many others....I've got 4 bikes. Believe it or nor we even have hairdressers on this site with faggot cars and pristine bikes which are getting sprayed bright pink if they post any more bastard pics of their dirt free bike  :D

Those Tracer 700s look like cracking bits of kit; all the reviews seem to back that up [without the usual hype or bias either].
Seems like a great choice.

when I took it for test ride doing 16 miles, that was enough to convince me that this a fazer replacement!
when I sold the fazer I wanted something a little lower and lighter so I traded it in for a ER6F .
I just couldn't get along with it did 4,000 in 4 years and it almost killed biking for me.
if it wasn't for our lass convincing me to try another ,I wouldn't be riding today.
I dont know what it was with the ER tried two seat mods, higher bars..
hip use to ache every time I did a long trip..
I've had a couple of maxi's so I considered getting one...
I said to our lass if they(japs) bring out an auto bike I'll buy it.
ended up with an NC700X dct loved it but not the looks.lol
I thought when I'm sat on I'm not looking at it .. after a while it didn't look to bad.
I was planning on selling it and getting a 'S' 750 model then yamaha brought out the tracer 700.
ooh I like that and a test ride prove it was the one for me.
got a good part ex.with it being an ex demo I saved about £720...
it only had 350 mile of which I did 16 miles.
its off the road at the mo but getting all the accessories on.
I'm like a big kid in a candy shop(just turned 65) :lol

Why did you opt for the 700 Tracer and not the 900, just curious. I run an MT09 these days. I tried the MT07 which was lovely but seeing as I was dropping down from the FZ1 thought I might miss the power drop to much.  My reason for selling my FZ1 was purely because it was getting to heavy for me. I love my 09. Must admit though those Tracers look the dogs, enjoy and stay safe.

I had a 20 mile blast on aTracer09 and it was fantastic.  A little high for my stumpy legs and the suspension was way too soft for me but if I had the money I'd love to upgrade to one. My FZS1000 has R1 forks and R6 rear so nice and firm.

the reason why I went for the 700 and not the 900 is that I wasn't all that keen on the looks .
also not looking for power I've done all the fast riding etc.
not interested  speed or accelerating fast.
my last bike was an NC 54 bhp torque 50 and I found that plenty fast for us(wife comes with me)
the tracer has 50 torque at around a thousand revs more and 74 bhp.
having an extra 20 or so hp I'm not sure what the gain is there.
yes its a cracking bike as soon as I did the test ride I was sold.

I got a Versys (same kind of setup as the ER6F) after  my Thundercat, lovely bike but like you it nearly ended me.
Good riding position but I wasn't half as keen to get out there as I was with my Cat.
Got rid of the Versys and got me my Fazer, 4 cylinders of loveliness and now I am happy again but I am liking the Tracer, looks and reviews.
Maybe my next one...

I'm surprised to hear that the Tracer 700 only churns out 74 BHP, I believe my 2003 Fazer FZS600 Foxeye churns out 93 or 94 BHP something like that.

A little high for my stumpy legs and the suspension was way too soft for me.
I have stumpy legs too (only 5'5") but paid an extra £230 for the genuine Yamaha lowering kit (which the dealer fitted for me for free), had the suspension set up at Race Lab and it's absolutely perfect. Very light compared to the Fazer and a joy to ride.  :D
I could change my opinion, but then we'd both be wrong.

Good luck with your new 700 Tracer. I have not seen one yet but I thought they were cosmetically the same as the 900.
Anyway as they say there is a bike out there for us all. :)

That sounds like the perfect solution. The Fazer's weight is a big issue for me too.

the tracer has a good distance travel on a full tank roughly 200 or more miles.
most guys get on average of 60 to 70 mpg.
