General / Re: Waterproof Boots
« on: 14 October 2013, 10:42:37 pm »
if you want to stay with sidi i would have a look at the
sidi b2 gore tex has a bit of ankle support
sidi st gore tex loads of ankle support both really nice boots

alpinestars smx plus gore tex nice internal lace so it holds your ankle really well and loads of ankle support again

i would recommend trying a pair of daytona boots if havent before beautiful boots the best selling ones is the roadstar they are a wider fit than a pair of alpinestar or sidi boots so they may not fit you

they are all gore-tex so will be completely waterproof

I really want to put a K&N air filter in my bike but I am restricted so it will give me a couple more HP and I have to tell my insurance as it is a modification.

i put one in mine when it was restricted and i noticed a bit more power between about 3000-5500 and a bit more noise that was about it dont think it made it any quicker but i would do it again as it gave it a little more in the rev range i normally ride in

i did tell my insurance about it and it made no difference in cost but i haven't tried to claim that might be a different story

Small minor downside, there is a leaver to lock the visor in position.  What I didn't know is that the visor doesn't form a complete seal unless this lock is engaged.  Above 40mph with the lock disengaged I get a slight whistle through the visor.  With the lock in place it's quiet as a mouse.  I'm sure I'll get used to it.  It's fine for long journeys where you are constantly moving, but a pain when commuting and you want to raise your visor on the slower sections.

Over all, a week in and I'm happy.

the lever on the side has 3 positions middle does nothing you can open the visor and it should seal properly move it forward and it should open a small amount which will whistle at higher speeds and move it backwards to lock the visor

Just wondering 'cos I've never had anything Goretex that's remained waterproof for more than the first few downpours. :'(

all goretex products are guaranteed for the life of the product and you can get them repaired or replaced if they do leak

The weird part is, I had it running for about a minute with the choke half out, and it idling at about 2k, The minute I got on it, and stood it up right, it then cut out, despite the choke being half out. Put the choke fully out, and tried to start it again with me on it, and it didn't want to. It did eventually, but that kinda bothered me.

with the choke on my bike drops 500/700 rpm when i take it off the side stand it doesnt always do it but its never cut out

Maybe a CBT-like course (not another test) after the two years to derestrict your licence is a sensible middle ground?

it does say on mcn that
At 19 they can qualify for a bike of up to 47bhp by doing another test or additional training
so that might be the idea but i can see them scraping the training and just making it another test

the cheapest fc i could get was over 1200 so i went tpff which was 570 which i was happy with because the next lowest tpff was just under 800

at the moment learners can have up to 11kw which is 14.75hp

and 33hp isnt that bad but i think 45-55hp would be a better level i feel 70hp is a bit to high if you coming from a 10-15hp 125
