Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Storage Solution for Fazer 1000

Appreciate the offer Hugh but I'm in Bexhill so a bit of a drive ;)

I've decided against it for the time being.  I'll wait until I'm next in somewhere that has some I can actually look at and see the space in them for my self.  Appreciate the help peeps :)

I'll give a look at the doubles then :)

Any idea where the best place to look online is?  As I mentioned, I was really after one with back rest attached!

Thanks for the reply NW.  I had seen those that were large enough for 2 helmets but didn't know whether they would be big enough for what I mentioned in my original post.  I'm hoping someone could advise whether they have a particular size of box that they know for a fact fits a helmet, trousers and jacket in.

I have a 2004 Fazer 1000.

I'm after something I can attach to the bike which will hold a helmet, over trousers and jacket!  Not keen on Panniers but a top box would be fine.  Needs to be lockable and able to act as a back rest for the odd occasion I take my daughter on the bike.  Also it would need to be fitted easily and easily removable.

Budget it limited but I would appreciate any thoughts on what would be best suited.

Isn't it because after 9 years there's no further discount? 9 years being the maximum, hence maximum no claims? (does irritate me as well though)

That's exactly why.

Shoddy system and one that is used just to keep premiums as high as they can.  If you ask me, insurance should be reduced year on year on year until you're paying absolute peanuts.  Those that have 'at fault' accidents should be made to pay the costs not the rest of us, simples!

I was tracking this storm on lightningmaps.org and the entire storm at one point reached over 500 strikes a minute  :eek

I'm lucky enough to have a superb view over the sea and watching it roll in was something to behold, not as impressive as a similar storm we had last year but still impressive.  Closets strike was around 2 miles away, saw the streak of lightening in front of the house and it must have gone over the house and hit something that way as the crackle came from the front then an almighty, house shaking, bang from behind us!

Oh I do love a good storm :)

That is possible but the impression I got from his attitude was that he was just an arrogant prick that doesn't know his arse from his elbow  :lol

Lets stick with that then  :rollin

Thank you, I knew I was correct this guy was making out he used to own a 2002 FZS600 with fuel injection but the fuel injected model which was the FZ-6S not the FZS600 which came along in around 2004.

Cheers I can put my mind at rest now as he really got me questioning it  :thumbup

Aye certainly not I would have thought, unless it had been converted!  I wouldn't see the point in a conversion though, I'd personally just go out and buy a ready made FZ6  :rolleyes

As far as I understand it they were Carb'd until the FZ6 came along in 2004 with a new fuel injected system!

Yup, weathers not great but I'm heading over to Hastings.  Seeing as I'm only 5 miles from Hastings I figured I'd head up to Pembury and join a group coming down  :D

Just to clarify, the Government pays nothing towards a motability car so that means no ones tax is being used to pay for them!  Motability is a charity and they are able to offer new cars at a lower price than the open market due to the unique VAT concessions they get!  Okay so indirectly tax payers money is paying for the rental as it's taken from the mobility part of anyone's PIP/DLA claim but this money would still be paid to the person whether or not they have a vehicle under the scheme.

My wife would be focced if it weren't for this scheme so kudos to them I say.  Even though it costs me a tidy couple of thousand every three years as an upfront payment but I'm safe in the knowledge that she'll never have to worry about breaking down and being without help or a car.

Well, I've just checked free play and get around 10mm so all okay there!  Cable movement is smooth and easy enough so all okay there!  Chain tension is between 40-45mm all round, mostly closer to 45mm but still within range so all good there also!

At the very least I need to get a gasket so I can check everything in the housing and put it all back together if nowt is wrong.  Bike's only on around 39000 miles so I'm not thinking the clutch is due for renewal just yet but you never know!

EDIT:  I've just double checked the chain and it actually appears it may need adjusting so I'll do that first.

Thanks for that Whale although I'm inclined to think that's not the issue here but it's certainly something I'll look into once I've checked out the clutch basket and plates!  I've just read somewhere else that dry plates can cause a squealing effect so perhaps this is my nest of starlings I speak of!?

Anyone?  I have no idea what a worn clutch basket would look like!  Give me a car and I'll diagnose and fix the problem, give me a bike and I haven't the foggiest  :o

Thanks guys, if I pull the cover, what am I looking for with regards to wear.

Could the nest of starlings be clutch basket noise as well?  It's not particularly loud, either the rattle or the starlings but I'm sure it's something that wasn't there before.  Oil level appeared fine last time I had a quick look, certainly not low in any case.

I've noticed of late that there appears to be a rattle when in neutral.  Disappears when I pull in the clutch but is there when released.  Also, sounds a bit like I have a nest of starlings in the gearbox when moving/accelerating!

Any idea's fellow Foccers?
