Where are you, Jason?

Sounds like it might be gingernutz old bike, if you're on the south coast.

Is it as good as it sounds?

Nope. It's better.

Best spots - my favourite is the hairpin, or trackside on the long blast down through the trees. On the steep climb is good too, the bank above the start finish line gives great views of the chicane immediately prior (the big Bikes are coming down from warp speed to probably 30 for that one). The track is small enough you can do a few vantage points on each race, you're not restricted to picking one and finding you've made a mistake.

Any meeting at Olivers mount is well worth a visit. I've never stayed over, just been for day visits, but the racing is excellent, you're way closer to the track than anywhere else (except the tt etc), if you buy your tickets in advance (for some of the meets at least) you get pit access as well.

Do it...

I think I've changed it once. Only had the bike since 1998 mind, so there's time yet!

Saw Ryan race at Scarborough, probably 2 years before he retired. He won everything he entered, made it look so easy. Class!

The only thing it didn't remove was his life.  He's not touched a drop now for over 30 years.

Good on him, that's a hell of an achievement.

I'm reminded of an argument that I was an amused bystander to. We were in Ecuador, eating in a restaurant run Columbians, and the conversation turned to drugs. One guy on the trip, had some kind of job in the City, and we were pretty sure from things he said (even before this evening out), that he was a pretty high volume level coke user. He was saying that recreational drugs don't have to be a bad thing, and that the approach to control in the UK was all wrong. Other folk there, from the high end of the social scale (president & his wife, of one the UK larger tennis clubs), were compltely against anything, took the view that even one toke of a joint would lead you directly to injecting heroin. It got pretty heated, but none of them picked up the fact that we were all well into our bottles of wine that night, which as you say VNA, is one of the nastier drugs out there. But it's legal so is ok, go figure  :rolleyes :rolleyes :rolleyes

What makes you think you should have seen it light up? I've never seen mine come on, had the bike from new. It doesn't come on at the same time as the fan...

He said Jewish people chase money more than anyone else?? what is anti semitic about that it is a well known fact.

There you go Lew - short of using the word bastard, you've said exactly what VNA accused you of.

The FA were pressured by the Board of deputies of British Jews.

Got any evidence to support that?

Aberlour?

The usual ten year old is, well not very good to honest.

Aberlour a'bunadh is gaining a lot of fans.  They seem to be churning it out too as it's popping up in duty free and supermarkets.  But it seems to appear in batches.  I wanted a bottle for Christmas and I'd seen the stuff in the supermarket (thinking ah ken whit I'll get fae.....) but it vanished in the few weeks running up to Christmas.

Anyway the idea is to get back to basics, making proper whisky, no chill filtering, straight ot the cask (sherry butt) and no waiting donkies years to drink it, this is full strength, unfiltered young whisky matured in quality sherry casks.  It sounds foccing great.  Nor should it cost a fortune either (will attract extra tax sadly)

It will also vary from batch to batch, like proper malt whisky should.

So yeah lucky you richfzs.  Darn it.  Enjoy.

Aye, that's the stuff. Batch 49 I believe, at 60.1% straight from the cask. Wax sealed, with a wood top to the cork, made even opening it a nice experience - and then it was so smoooooooth, and wonderfully warming.

Hope you find some, its well worth it. Cost me £41 for the bottle, in a shop not famed for being the cheapest around

Dunno if anyone's mentioned Aberlour in this thread, but bought a cask strength bottle to take round to friends last night - God but that's beautiful stuff. Best dram I ever tried.

Spot on, and not yet, but I'm sure I soon will be  :D

I saw the Hairy Bikers episode again recently where they went there and I'm wondering why I don't go. The scenery and food looks amazing.

Anyone got anything good planned for 2015?

Yes  :D :D

In one months time, I fly to Thailand for 12 days pootling around Chiang Mai, the northern mountains, the Golden Triangle etc

Then in June, it's on the 800 Tiger to the Pair-O-Knees, 10 day trip that one

Tough life  :lol

Yep they are good - pricy, but good. Downside is, if the relay (most likely failure point) fails, it's either expense again, or a right faff soldering on the board.

Haven't let that stop me using them!
