Looks like the Zumo is taking you down the M11 and across on the A120, whereas Google wants you to go down the A14.  There's not a lot in it I must admit.  I know that from my place to Glasgow is 324 miles having done it quite a few times recently so your first fuel stop is likely to be Scotch Corner.  That's just over 160 miles from Glasgow and then the Peterborough A1(M) services will be a further 160 miles.  After that it's whichever route you choose to take but you'll need to fill up again in or near Harwich.

Looks like we'll be seeing you at the Peterborough services at around 6am next Friday.......

So, I'll be setting off in a little over 24 hours. I got my bike back together last night after a fair bit of work. Had a road test today and scrubbed in the new tyres. Fule'd up and bags almost packed. And, of course, I picked up the poppy!

Its not to late if you would like to donate to the Erskine Hospital.

I haven't gone quite that far but I have given mine an oil and filter change and a coat of VHT paint on the downpipes.  I'm looking at getting to Peterborough A1(M) services at 05:30 to meet up with you and be wingman down to Harwich.  I think I should recognise your bike now, mines silver and a lot less shiny......

Perfect Rusty. We will stop at Peterborough services when we get there, fuel up and do the last 2 hours or so together.

I will be on that (^) and my mate will be on a blue SV650 with a bright YELLOW bag on the back.

Its looking like its going to be a rough night of rain and wind. A perfect way to start the trip :'(

Last check in before we set off. Rusty, we are leaving an hour earlier because the weather is looking a bit dodgy. We don't want to miss our ferry...

If you are still up for meeting us, that's cool. But if it is to early, I understand.

Ciao for now foccers.

Lest we forget.

Despite me being the guide, Steve, his mate and the poppy(s) arrived safely at Harwich ferry port just before 8am this morning.......

From the state of his mate it would appear that a Fazer is more comfortable for long journeys than an SV650

So the rain went for a week solid till we got to Italy. Rotterdam is nice. The nurburgring was a wash out. We managed one lap in the rain and one in the dry/sh. We were there for a few nights too. Then it was down to lake Constance in a storm. Never even clapped eyes on the lake itself. A quick stop over in what can only be described as a hippy commune, and off to trento via the stelvio pass. I'll get up some  from the new camera once im home. We are now in bagni di Lucca in Tuscany sitting having a coffee with my mate, the sun is out and suddenly that 2000 miles in the rain has all become a distant memory.

That was about 15 kilometres from where we were, which was Bagni di Lucca. Some nice roads there, eah? We are in Aosta now, and heading to Switzerland tomorrow for a jolly. It feels like there is a storm coming here though. There were restaurant chairs blowing across the piatza. Nice wee toon though.

Sorry for the late reply here fellas. I got back from the Euro-tour on the 7th and was off to Ibiza with my good lady a couple of days later. Then back for 1 day and took my Mum to Berlin for here 60th. So now I home, back to work and back to normal  :'( .

The tour was fantastic, and a success with regards to the poppy making it to its destination on time. Thank you to all for the sponsorship. If anyone cares to donate, the page is still live...

Unfortunately it rained more or less from leaving Glasgow, through England, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Austria. About 8 days, with the odd hour of respite here and there. The rain broke for a couple of hours whilst we were at the ring, so we managed a couple of laps. However, the track was closed most of the day because there were so many accidents, some pretty serious too.

The Stelvio pass was amazing, the view spectacular. However the SP85 near Trento is a better road. If you like your twstys, that's the one for you.

Thiepval memorial and Locknagar bomb crater were beautiful places to visit. Quite moving really, when you think of all those people and what they did.

My new camera worked a treat and I managed about 7-800 pictures. But the file size is too large for me to upload them here, so it's just as well I took 132 with my phone.

Thanks again for the sponsorship guys. Its for a really good cause.
