FZ6 / Fazer / Front mudguard question
« on: 29 June 2015, 04:40:37 pm »
Does anyone know if an S2 front mudguard will fit a 2004 FZ6 Fazer? Or can it be made to fit?
Got a crack in mine and can't find a cheap replacement - apart from an S2 one.

FZ6 / Fazer / Tall / touring screen
« on: 28 July 2013, 09:41:25 pm »
Anyone know of a sensibly priced taller or touring screen that works for my '04 FZ6. I'm 6' tall but long body so getting a bit of a battering with standard screen.
Are there any decent add-ons to the original screen?

Also, could do with a second hand luggage rack and fittings if anyone has one laying around.

The old FZS was so much more practical and easier to to buy accessories for!

For Sale & Wanted / For Sale: FZS600 OE can and service parts
« on: 22 April 2013, 08:10:32 pm »
Had a bit of a garage clearout and have the following for sale:

1 x OE end can in excellent condition
4 x NGK plugs (CR9E) new
1 x oil filter new

I also have a Haynes manual covering  the FZS & YZF '96 to '03 in excellent condition.

Not sure how best to price them up...... I was thinking £70 for the lot, or make me an offer for individual items.

FZ6 / Fazer / HELP! Seized front sprocket nut
« on: 02 March 2013, 08:58:20 pm »
Nice sunny day, bike out of garage for new chain and sprockets, but I can't budge the front sprocket nut. Will leave it overnight with some penetrating stuff on but any further advice / tips out there?

Need it for work Monday, if it won't move tomorrow will an old sprocket do much damage to the new chain (40 mile round trip)?

Oh, it's an FZ6 Fazer. Previous bike - FZS600 - nut generally came off on it's own! :eek

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted/swap: Front mudguard FZ6 2004
« on: 02 January 2013, 04:31:50 pm »
Hi all and Happy New Year.

Anyone got a front mudguard in the shed gathering dust. Ideally a dark colour. Mines cracked across the top and getting worse :( . Going to try and weld/glue it at the weekend but really would rather replace it.

If anyone is interested I have a standard end can, oil filter (new) and NGK plugs (new) for a FZS600 (1999) available for sale/swap (swap for FZ6 bits).

For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: Rack for FZ6 2004
« on: 19 December 2012, 12:35:53 pm »
Hi all,

After having my beautiful FZS600 written-off earlier in the year I have now replaced it with a FZ6 2004. I am fairly desperate to get a box on the back but need a rack. Has anyone got one for sale for sensible money (new ones are mega bucks, especially at this time of year).

Thanks, Andy

General / Scary Halloween moment
« on: 04 November 2012, 07:06:44 pm »
Halloween did start in a particularly scary way - crashed on the way to work!

Negotiating a roundabout on a dual carriageway in right hand lane to go straight on a car towing a horse box in the left hand lane decided to turn right - right across my exit! With the accompanying bang, crunch, grate of metal and plastic as I slid/rolled across the road narrowly avoiding going under the horse box (fortunately no horse inside). I only suffered minor bumps, bruises and scratches.

Anyway, this being my first dealings with insurance for many a year, it seems proceedures have changed somewhat. I took insurance this year through Bennetts and it seems they are just a shop front as I am now having to deal with 3 other companies; Minster Law, BLD & Equity Red Star (underwriters).

As a warning, if you report a claim to Bennets also report it to the underwriters yourself as Bennetts don't!
BLD picked-up my bike the next day and have provided me with a hire bike until it's all sorted and seem to be just dealing with the bike side of the claim.

Minster Law were soon on the phone to try and sort out any personal injury claim making sure I even kept receipts for a box of paracetamol.

It all seems so disjointed and complicated. Why do these things in life just get harder. I was always under the impression that new systems were put in place to make things simpler - how wrong I am.

Anyway, has anyone else had dealings with the above companies and how did you get on?

I am now without my lovely Fazer and have been given a Bandit 650 hire bike (ugh! I'm struggling to find confidence in the front end) I just want my Fazer back (if it's not written-off) a.s.a.p so I can just get on with life in quiet normality. :'(

Any advice gratefully received.

General / Hi Fi help!
« on: 27 August 2012, 09:38:51 pm »
Hi, are there any audio-techies (not sure thats a word) out there? I have an old Denon UCD-90 CD player that has stopped reading the discs. It will initially spin up but cannot read or display any info. I have tried lens cleaning but no change. Any-one have any ideas/answers and if it is economical to fix (Richer Sounds do a similar player for £100). Any info very much appreciated. Ta.

FZS600 Fazer / Fuel gauge problem
« on: 15 December 2011, 07:49:34 pm »
Anyone know a quick fix for this? Filled her up, gauge went to full, after 100 miles gauge still showed full - funny, i thought. After 175 miles warning light flickers on (hmm, that still works then). Needle goes up & down when I turn on & off but when powers on stays permanently up (dream on misses). It's not an essential fix but it is a bit annoying! Any ideas out there?

Introduction / About time I said hi.
« on: 08 November 2011, 10:20:02 pm »
Hello all. I've been looking for a while now and found some great info and tips. Thought it about time I said hello. I've been riding a gold '99 FZS600 between Gloucester and Cheltenham for about 4 months now. On a couple of occaisions I have seen another similar looking bike. Are you on here? Any other members in the area?
Also, posted a question tonight re. front sprocket nuts - can anyone help?

FZS600 Fazer / Front sprocket - again!!
« on: 08 November 2011, 09:21:46 pm »
Oh dear, just changed rear tyre, chain and both sprockets. All fine apart from the (common I now see) front sprocket nut, washer, shaft problem. Nut = knackered; washer = knackered; thread on shaft = knackered.
Has anyone had any recent dealings with Yamaha regarding this? Will they do a free shaft replacement on a 1999, 30K FZS600?
I will contact them myself tomorrow but don't want to get fobbed-off by anyone. If they are not doing this repair (to parts not fit for purpose) is there another quick fix i.e cut new thread onto shaft and source a different nut.
