Love these threads  :woot

This is a mortorcyclists forum for those who prefer Fazers and enjoy life where a degree in sarcasm a necessity, but a degree in english is not.  :rolleyes

Great to see someone correct grammar with the incorrect use of it to do so. :lol

Sarcasm, because beating the shit out of someone is illegal. :eek

To all the harbingers of doom, deposit taken this morning at a price I'm happy with.

Forums, eh? full of people who really should get out more instead of living a virtual life - I think 'should get out more' was the strapline to one of the 'contributors' to this thread because really, in the process of selling my bike, what have any of you foccers meaningfully contributed? definitely not intelligent conversation, that's for sure.

Whilst having had a Fazer for over 10 years and know them inside out, is it any wonder, judging by the 'eloquence' displayed on this forum that some people choose not to partake?
Some of you like to make supposedly funny, sarcastic comments but don't like it when it's dished back at you - the one about setting the clock, big fucking deal, that pure comedy gold was so hilariously funny............if you're a pre-pubescent schoolboy (that's about the level of most of the contributions).

Mods, please delete this thread and my account.

Foxeye03 only opened the account just to sell his bike.
He would never waste his time  in Forums, eh? full of people who really should get out more instead of living a virtual life - I think 'should get out more'  Oh fuck he was in here.
Notice he did say how much he got for it, but in all seriousness it was a nice looking machine

Yes, I was testing BBROWN1664 to see how oobservant they are.......obviously, not very
g

Just reading this post again, and, also being a failure on the education front (11 plus failure) I noticed that Foxeye03 was addressing BBROWN1664, (an individual) surely, but am happy to be wrong, please correct if that is the case, using the term 'they are' infers more than one individual, I believe the term should have been 'he or she was' as we are talking about an individual person and it is in past tense.

Not wishing to be perdantic but if we are going to be critical of one and other we need to be extra careful with what we say/type.
So don't do like what I do cos I do like what I'm told.

As commented by others in the post, it is a very, very clean looking machine, the other thing in it favour it has not had much in the way of so called upgrades done to it.
I bought my FZS600 2003 Foxeye 4 years ago, not as clean as this one granted (But it had been looked after and regularly serviced) with 24K on the clock. I paid £1950 for mine.
I too think that this one is on the high side price wise.

I was reading on VisorDown about all the bikes most likely to become classics and the FZS600 was top of the list, so if someone had that sort of dosh and decided to garage it they could be onto a winner.
But with the new regulations about to come in, and, those planned for the future maybe a vehicle with a petrol engine is not such a great investment.

Very pretty bike though Foxeye03.

Good luck with the sale and I am sure if someone does purchase it for something close to your asking price they would not use it as a hack because if that is what they wanted something to use as a hack there are a lot of scruffy ones out there for 7 or 8 hundred pounds.

Oh! one other thing chill out a bit mate.
Good luck

Hi fazersharp,
Your account just got me thinking about tasks we all take for granted, but in fact do differently. Just like wheeling a bike from whichever side is comfortable to the individual. Which side do you get on a bike. For me it's the left, but when you watch pit crew readying the bike for their rider, some jump on from the right others the left. I'm right handed but would fire a rifle or use a bow and arrow left handed..I'd shovel left handed as well, my right hand nearer the blade rather than on the handle. Just got me thinking that's all.
Get on from the left
Shoot with my right hand finger on the trigger
dig with my right hand at the handle and my left at the blade - stand the the left of the shovel

That's masturbation for you Sharpie  :eek

Think of it as an investment to friendship.
If you are really aggrieved that much about it PM your address and I will send you £12.

£3 for the interest as mentioned by BB and £9-00 to buy yourself and your mate a pint, shake him by the hand and move on.

This is a serious offer and I will never, ever, let anyone know if you took it up.
Friendship is worth more that money.

As the title suggests, what exactly were people thinking?
What pictures do you have of things that are simply "Just wrong"?

There's something about those mats which makes me think Photoshop.
Defiantly photoshopped. But I quite like it. I wanted to put a zebra pattern carpet on the grand central staircase at Sharp Hall but Mrs Sharp (and the whole Sharp family ) said it was a stupid idea, so we got stripes just like every one else.

Lol!
Mrs Sharp and the little razors. Agree about the bathroom image defo been graphically messed with, the objects sat on the floor mat just ain't right.
I believe the car with the doggie dumping in the back is a Ford Detritus.
It's is amazing what you can do to images now with a relatively cheap bit of software. Paint Shop Pro is all I ever use to just tidy up the occasional image and have found tool in the bit of cheap software that you can do some amazing stuff with.
I have an illegal copy of some expensive software at home but decided not to install it as it just don't seem right someone put a lot of work into getting it right and it just seems unfair somehow, plus it's illegal, strange that 135 mph is illegal as well but thar seems fine to me.Doh!

The ignition switches tend to wear.  Plenty of wd40 should get it moving again.
But you may find due to wear you have push to key forward or back when in the barrel then turn.
Mine won't budge unless I give it a nudge one way to turn on, then the other to turn off and lock.  As long as I do that it works no problem.

Thanks for that tip, it needs pulling back a bit then it's happy.

Seems that most Yamaha switches are the same, mine FZS 600 need just slightly pulling back towards the rider and it then functions smoothly, without pulling it backwards it will not turn, as long as you know 'Jobs a Goodun'

Luckily I don't have any physical issues with the R1 riding position but with sports bikes, everything is so focused towards going quick.  Don't get me wrong, the roads over here lend themselves to it far better than the UK but it's just too intense for me to sustain it for any length of time.  At least the Fazer is relaxing to ride between 'wild hare' moments LOL!

Whisper it quietly, but I would love to have one of the new T120 Bonnies in the garage these days ... ;)

Mate just sold his T140 900 Truxton Bonny and bought himself a Harley 1200 and something or other, Kin idiot.

« on: 30 July 2017, 09:12:40 am »
My route out of town in the mornings involves a fairly tight T - junction which at 5.30am never has any traffic coming from the left (one way)........until one one morning. I was on the mighty Tiger and at 2-3mph had to stop when seeing the car with a slight turn on the bars. Foot went down straight onto a plastic bag and the big brute and the Tiger went down slowly and gracefully like the Titanic. Really pissed off with myself I heaved it slowly back up and threw it straight over onto the other side having forgotten to put the side stand down. Even at 5.30am you just know someone was wetting themselves behind a curtain......

This story has been told before:

Had my Fazer just a few weeks, after being away from motorcycles about 30 odd years.
,Pulled up at a T Junction (Rural area) slightly uphill my turn was to the right had stopped and noticed a lady jogger approaching from my right, being a gentleman I waved her across in front of me, not wishing to interrupt her fitness regime, and also wishing to check out her arse in those very tight skimpy black leggings, she smiled and jogged across in front of me, bars to the right head and body cranked as far left as it is possible, slowly but surely the bike fell to the right dragging me right over the top of the bike and I ended up laying on my back on the other side of the bike, right hand still gripped around the throttle, stalled engine thankfully.
The jogger came running back after hearing the crash as I went down and she helped me get the bike back up right again she asked me if I was alright and was there anything she could do? I kept my mouth shut  :lol

We have all done it and what is so frustrating is how much damage a little drop can do, even a "controlled" where you are taking most of the weight.
As I feel partly responsible as it was my challenge you are doing (and I don't forget those who have helped me in the past  :thumbup ) I am going out to buy a lottery ticket and if I win all the jackpot I will pay for the damage.

Sharpie is a tight wad, he could sell an acre or two from Sharp Hall Estate and would not even notice the reduction in size, it would still take his team of 7 gardeners 5 days to cut the front lawn. :lol

breakfast at loomies with the mighty thou....

What Loomies is that? Not the one in Hampshire at West Meon is it?
If it was I would have not been happy as their brekkies are usually much bigger than that.

I love their Cheesy Bacon Chips, also their Loomies Chips (Ordinary chips and sweet potato chips mixed together)
and the portions are good.
Anyway I am sat at home and now dribbling thinking about all that cholesterol that could be coursing through my arteries! Mmmmmmm.

What did I do with my Fazer today? New plugs and tightened up the HT to cap leads, as I took her out for a blast out on Thursday and she bogged down for a millisecond when I wound her open. New plugs as stated and took a trip to Loomies in West Meon late this morning for a cuppa tea and a test run, all seems well.

There seemed to be a Suzuki day going on, Big Suzuki marquee with guys test ridding a variety of Suzuki's from Loomies bike park (Noticed I never mentioned the term Car Park)

Left Loomies took a quick blast back towards Petersfield and home, noticed in my mirror about a mile after leaving Loomies a big black naked bike, dunno what it was
following me, so I gave the Fazer some beans and lost him along the A272, got out onto the A3 North bound at Petersfield and traffic was a bit hectic with cars in both lanes and no one going to move over and the black naked caught up (We are now only doing about 70) I could hear him behind me blipping his throttle, so first opportunity i was into the the slow lane and giving it beans up the inside, he did not follow to start with but then joined me. Just after Ham Barn roundabout he went by me, I could tell he was not comfortable and he almost instantly took the next turning off which just happened to be my turning as well. Well, now we are back on the twisties, he slowed and waved me by, I stopped about a mile down the road and waited for him but he never showed I think he turned round and went back the way he came.

FAZER = 1

Big Black Naked = 0

He certainly had me on the straight power wise, but small balls! LOL!

All recommend progressive for the road and linear for the track - makes sense

Are these springs all of good quality and relatively equal?

I have fitted Ohlin Linears (Spring rate suited to my togged rider weight) on my 2003 FZS600 Fazer and I am very pleased with them.
Takena lot of the jarring out of bumps, better on wrists, shoulders, generally more comfortable and feel better in bumpy turns and bends as the geometry of the bike does not change as it can with the OEM Yamaha springs.

I have heard said that the original OEM Yammy springs are progressives but take one out and look at it and there are two definite spring rates, thay do not change progressively but a definite step change, they used to be called dual rate springs. Hit a big bump mid bend and the spring rate changes with the step in spring winding and it can cause stability problems.
True progressive spring must change their rate throughout the total length of the spring with no step, if they don't then they are not true progressives.

I also have cartridge emulators fitted to front forks (YSS) along with the Ohlin Linears.
The back end is damped with a Nitron R1 monoshock manifactured to my rider weight.

My riding style is spirited and this set up suits me, wife says it is more comfortable on the pillion as well.

A bit OT...but can you buy anything to make the seat less slidey? A spray or something?

This will tide you over until you can afford around £150 for a Digger or Archer seat.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OXFORD-MOTORCYCLE-BIKE-ANTI-SLIP-LUGGAGE-BLANKET-WEB-WEBBING-PROTECTION-MAT-/230994336783

Cut into strip and wrap around the seat.

Asda do the same thing in their car section for about 4 quid

Carpet gripper rod super glued on you arse helps.
Hello and well done on the test, great choice of bike, I'm sure you will have a shed load of fun on it, just remember every car driver wants to knock you off, well maybe not want to knock you off, but, cos they don't see bikes they have the potential to knock you off.

When idling on your drive is the bike on centre or side stand?
Do you lose sparks to all plugs?
These intermittent probs are a bugger to sort most times because of the source of the problem can only be tracked whist it's playing up, if after 5 mins it fires up again does not give you much time to check/trace the problem.
Can't be a coil breaking down otherwise it would do it while idling/4K revs on driveway.
Does the bike have an immobiliser fitted?

Thinking back to a coil pack breakdown, I understand the FZS has two coil packs, one coil serves two plugs, would a FZS 600 actually run on just two cylinders/one coil?

It would appear by you experiments so far not to be heat related, the only other forces or elements involved are windforce, movement/rise and fall of suspension or flexing/swinging arm, steering.
Try sitting on the bike while on drive with the bike ticking over/4K revs, on the stand then off the stand then turning steering to the left and right, then bouncing up and down, if you do one of the actions at a time it should eliminated the possible issue. If one action does appear to be the fault try it several time to ensure it was not just coincidentle.

This is an interesting prob please keep us updated as the resolution will a good one for the FZS 600 armoury.

Hey a Bullet!
No not the bike! but for you.  :eek

My buddy has a modern ish Bullet with a sidecar fitted we have had so much fun on the old thing, flat out with me in the sports chair/sidecar and Billy at the helm, I say helm cos it's like being on a boat, she will do 56 mph.

New front pipe, as original has a restrictor in it and larger sized Amal concentric carb to compensate for the bigger bore front pipe and a BSA Goldie style silencer (straight through) sounds amazing.

We do a coastal run on it through towns and villages along their south coast from Northchaple in Sussex through Petworth, Arundel and onto the coast road through the rural villages and end up at New Haven for lunch and a pint then return trip, makes me smile thinking about it as it takes all day, could do it on the Fazer in less a third of the time.
It really does put a smile on our faces though with kids looking and pointing, covering their ears and the old geezers giving us the thumbs up and waving, remembering their old days on a combo I guess, when parking up people come up to us to ask about the bike.
