Finally did my first carb balance today
In fairness i could have just left them alone when i turned the engine on, but #4 carb just needed a tweak so couldn't resist. I should've read this post again first as my shiny new 300mm long #2 screwdriver that i ordered actually had a hexagon shank which didn't fit into the gap for 3 & 4 carb screw, so put it all back together and got a round version from Halfords and as mickvp says you can't quite get a good enough angle on the screw, so i ended up using a cheap old short flat bladed screwdriver that was laying about instead I checked my TPS beforehand and for some reason it was at 0rpm which was a bit odd as i only set it last week, but i reset it again to 5000rpm, and checked again afterwards and it was still where it should be. Quick question though, i understand that the levels on the Carbtune should be as close as possible, but are there limits that are classed as acceptable (or non acceptable), and if so what are the limits that would make the bike misbehave, just out of curiosity? 8604

Metronome?
You need the Yamaha music division Look at the lower part of your chain and slowly rotate your wheel on centre stand, all the links should look horizontal. If you see any at an angle starting from bottom left aiming up to top right then you have sticky links, which you can feel with a pair of pliers, it won't move freely like the others. 8605

Nice work
It's funny 'cos i've said on here before that i doubt i'd get a black bike again because it's such a bastard to keep clean, i'd probably go for silver 8607
FZS600 Fazer / Re: New tarty bits« on: 26 July 2013, 07:39:46 am »Blackshadow discs. It's about £180 for the full set, they're made here in the UK, and are bloody fantastic discs - loads of guys on the ZX9R forum use them, and use them hard, and that's on a heavier bike that goes a fair bit quicker than the FZS does! Okay, i've read the reviews, some good positive feedback to start with, then i read your usual 'slag everything off' type of review as well. What i can't figure out is, firstly, how i've not seen or heard of them before as i don't normally miss a trick and i went through a period of searching everywhere for a reasonably priced but good disc? They're even on Ebay so that would indicate to me there are no sizes for our bikes? Secondly, their fitting guide concerning the "Faser" (sic) is a little bit odd especially where the years of manufacture are concerned? And lastly they mention 'floating' discs in their guide, but in one of the reviews i read they mentioned 'fully' floating. When they say fully floating are we talking jingly jangly noisy buggers or just riveted semi floaters? http://www.blackshadow-uk.co.uk/Yamaha.html What i've found since i've been using the internet is that people will trip over themselves to write a bad review about something, whether it's a hotel, holiday resort, bike parts, etc......but hardly anyone takes the time to write good reviews about things, they just take it and run, which is why things can get very confusing online when buying stuff. When i plumped for the Kagizume discs on the front (and now matching rear ) of my bike the reviews were so mixed it was ridiculous, but now i've had them for a couple of years and they've honestly been fantastic, and paired with the Galfer pads they still look like new! I just emailed Blackshadow about discs for the Fazer so i'll let you know when i get a reply. 8608

Hello Robbus, and welcome to the forum mate.
I'm not near my bike but i'd say 90 degrees sounds about normal for the throttle, unless someone corrects me. Quick action throttles barely need squeezing and you're off so i doubt it's one of them. Gearing around town at 25-30mph, i've not even thought about before, it's more about the sound of the engine but at a guess 3rd or 4th gear? Basically if you are revving the nuts off the bike you are in too low a gear, and if you are kangarooing then you are in too high a gear. Works for me anyway. Idle should be set at warm engine running temperature. I'm about 100kg ( ) but also have a large topbox with framework on the bike so i stick with the 36psi front and 42psi rear in the tyres and it seems to handle well. If it is a bit jittery around the 3k mark that does indicate to me that a carb balance might help. After a carb balance you will find the throttle will be much easier to use in any gear and at any speed. 8613

After the air filter can take no more air blasting you can then give it to your nan for Xmas and explain that it's a very rare origami ornament.

Rad guard won't have any height issues, as long as you're not blatantly blinding people with them?
Would've thought a straight line from the battery is a tiny bit risky, because you will forget to turn them off, for whatever reason! Either that or some random will flick the switch for you for 'fun'. Have you seen these too? http://www.bikevis.com/motorcycle-led-running-lights.html 8616
