FZS600 Fazer / Re: Clock bracket
« on: 18 April 2013, 06:49:07 pm »
Thanks for that, much appreciated.

Gave me an idea.

Cheers

Stevie

Just have a good think of the way you want it and make sure you get your measurements right.
Took me about a hour to make the bracket and 3 coats of black spray paint on the bracket and clocks.
Plus i can change the angle of the clocks by loosening the nuts on the fork light brackets and moving to the angle that suits me best.

Not a great fan myself, but had no choice as the front and side of the bike was trashed after a kind lady pulled out in front of me and i left my imprint in the side of her nice car a couple of years ago.. >:
First accident in over 30 years riding.I ride everyday in any weather, finding lately the roads are full of numptys who pass there driving test and think its a ticket to drive like arseholes.. :moon
Old man rant over.. :lol

I made one from a strip of 2-3mm and about 2" wide aluminum drilled hole for 2 of the nuts on the back of the clocks dont need one for the top as it is very solid no vibes.Drilled a hole on each end and mounted to my twin light bracket.Sprayed the hole lot black including front and back of clocks.

Without the flyscreen fitted you can just see the bracket i made.

My fazer 600 & zrx 1200 both pop and fart on the overrun.
Zrx is the loudest but sounds great, its all part of the aftermarket replacements.
If it bothers you get jetted.

Had that problem with my fazer a few years ago, i just bought some heat resistant sealant smothered it on then joined together and left to cure for 2 days, problem solved.
Mine was really bad so had no choice.

Made the speedo/rev bracket myself.

All cost me nothing as i sold what was salvageable from the crash to pay for all materials for my repair. ;)

Had to replace my starter clutch housing when i had a crash 2 years ago.
Best way to get the bearing out is stick the casing in the oven for about 10-15 minutes then take it out and tap the back of the casing with a rubber mallet and bobs your auntie out it comes.
To put it into new casing put the casing in the oven cook it for a few minutes and put the cold bearing in without any hassle. But dont forget the casing will be HOT.

My bike was much worse than that after a kind lady decided to pull out of a side street and t-boned me.
Insurance company wrote it off as the bill was over 5 grand, only paid £1700 for it and had been riding it for over 5 years.
Bought it back off the insurance company for £120 plus i got over 2 grand for the insurance claim.
Cost me £50 to fix by the time i had sold all i could salvage and bought new stuff, including twin headlights, flyscreen, new fork brackets, indicators, new engine casing, new end can & link pipe, basically everything that was trashed in the crash.

the bike now.

It was a soft split link which I've since discovered today are not recommended for over 500 cc bikes. I'm going to get the mechanic to come to me and fit a proper split link.

No such thing as a soft split link.
softlink is for bikes over 500-600cc needs to be pressed on then soft rivet end squashed to about 2-3mm more than it was
splitlink under 500-600cc they just clip on-definitely no good for a fazer.

I would check and make sure what was put on your chain.

If the pads still have some material still on then don't bother buying new ones, but if you have slackened the banjo on the hose i would bleed the brakes its only a 20 minute job. Also try adjusting the lever there are 4 different positions you can use, just push the lever away from you and turn the dial to what suits.
Gnasher may be along shortly he's probably the best with brake advice.

« on: 16 August 2012, 08:40:37 pm »
Put ultra lows on my bike & scooped the seat out and that solved aching wrists on my 98 fazer, been like that for 5 years and never get any aches its very comfortable riding position, might do it to my kawi zrx1200r as its worse than what the fazer used to be like.Zrx is a heavy bike and braking tests the wrists.

Mine was clunky going into first and worse going into second, fixed it by dropping the gear lever a couple of notches and now as smooth as butter, been like that since i done it nearly 3 years ago.. ;)

Also done this with my zrx1200r with the same results.

Place to watch for on the standard exhaust is where the link pipe goes into the can,the weld gives way and starts to blow.

« on: 10 June 2012, 12:44:59 pm »
Mine used to do this a lot around 6000rpm 70mph
It was cured by renthal ultra low bars & i do not have any bar end weights fitted bike runs smooth as, no vibes at any revs,SIMPLES.
Ps you have to use the bike to keep things running smooth not sit looking at it and polishing the life out of it.. ;)

would autosol work on them or would it strip the black off??

You would need to take them off rub down with wet-n-dry and spray or paint with high temperature stove paint.

Just had a quote of £37 +VAT to repair the tyre based on £60/hour labour costs +VAT (I'm in London) plus about £7 for the umbrella patch. This is what makes punctures so annoying because they aren't something I can repair cheaply myself.

Feck me... :eek  "glad i live up north".

That's why the FZS600 is the best road bike ever made. Also this year I only pay 100€ for insurance  , try that, sporty ones

Cost me £35 for insurance last year for the 98 fazer & £86 for the 2006 zrx1200r.. 8)
