Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Black frame paint
« on: 11 August 2015, 12:37:35 pm »
Washing the bike today I noticed that some of the black paint has rubbed off the swingarm on my gen2 right down to the bare alloy, probably caused by my boot rubbing on it.
Anyone had the same problem and if so what did you use to touch it up? The cheaper the better :)
Also any tips on what to use to polish the black frame up with, it always looks dull.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / LED rear light.
« on: 19 July 2015, 01:08:31 pm »
I have got a 2nd hand led rear light to fit to my FZ1, it is made by Powerbronze but I have no fitting instructions so I am unsure as to the correct wiring.
I have tried searching on the net for some but I have drawn a blank, cannot find any on the Powerbronze website either.
There are 3 wires in the centre, black ,blue and yellow .
One yellow wire on the right hand side.
One blue wire on the left hand side.
So five wires in total.
I am not even sure if it is just a rear light or light plus indicators :o
Does anyone have the instructions for the light that they could email me or put them up on here?
Or a photo of the wiring on the bike if you have one fitted.
Also can anyone confirm if it is a light plus indicators or just a light?
Do I need to fit a resistor as it is an led?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / 142 bhp with custom fuel map
« on: 10 July 2015, 08:10:07 pm »
Thats my dyno figure,  142 bhp with the following mods and custom fuel map to suit,
K & N filter,
O2 eliminator
De catted down pipes
Lars airbox mod,
STANDARD exhaust can with no exup valve.

I know the standard can is an ugly heavy lump, like me, but just cannot get on with aftermarket cans anymore, I just find the noise too intrusive and it detracts from me enjoying the bike.I think that bhp figure is pretty good considering it is with a standard can but torque was only 69, I thought that would have been more.

The custom map that was done for me is perfect, the bike is so smooth and picks up and accelerates so much better, I should of done this 9 months ago instead of pissing about with other peoples maps :\

The map and dyno work were done by Gavin at RaceHQ  in Leeds ,cost £120 and he did over a dozen dyno runs, definitely go there again ,nice and friendly and more than capable. I originaly went there to ask about an ECU reflash but he doesn't do them for the FZ1 as he does not have the software to do it, he mainly does R1s, Fireblades.

And a picture with the standard can on so you can take the piss :)

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Calibrating throttle with Juicebox / PC3 ?
« on: 07 June 2015, 01:17:40 pm »
Yesterday I calibrated my throttle on my FZ1 in the tools menu of my juice box as it always showed as 96%, followed the simple instructions and now it shows zero which is meant to be correct.
I noticed that it was showing a voltage reading  of 0.684 at tickover, does anyone know if this is correct? Does the voltage change as the revs rise?
I have no fault codes showing on dash and the bike is running ok, just wanted to know  if anybody else has done this on their juicebox or PC3 and what voltage reading they got.

And while I am in moaning mode whats with the massive excess nowadays, £500 seems to be the norm.
Carole Nash also put in their renewal that if I did not contact them they would automaticaly renew my insurance,  some poor sod that works there is going to get a Mr Angry phone call from me tomorrow.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / What connects to these multiplugs?
« on: 19 April 2015, 03:53:31 pm »
Ok, stuck at home all weekend  looking after grandkids I have been messing about  with my FZ1 while they argue with each other and I noticed these two multiplugs under the left hand side fairing infill.  One of them looks like they have been plugged up? I assume they are there to fit some accessory to that does not come as standard  such as alarm .
Anybody have any ideas?
Mine is an abs model so I don't think they are something to do with that.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Fueling maps from the FZ1OA forum.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / fce fitted.
« on: 17 March 2015, 06:41:04 pm »
Well today I fited an Ivans fce to my FZ1 and it has made the bike. Running it with the Two Brothers map that came already installed in the JuiceBox Pro the bike is smoother everywhere and coming off a closed throttle there is no lag and the pickup is instant, why didn't I do this months ago?
Well the £173 price did to be honest.
Brand new off ebay it cost me less than half price, £82, off someone who I think is/was a fellow foccer,a real bargain.
Only downside is the fce looks a bit cheap, why it doesn't have multiplugs to fit on the multiplug on the bike instead of bullet connectors that you have to fit yourself is poor, if pc3,pc5, juicebox and bazzaz can do it on their products Ivan should do the same, more people would fit them I think then because a lot of people will not want to hack into their loom.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZ1 abs wire position
« on: 01 February 2015, 03:54:08 pm »
I have just refitted my front wheel and the wire/cable for the abs just does not look if it is in the correct position. The lug on the sensor disc is correctly fitted jn the slot on the inner of the fork leg but the wire is touching against the caliper bolt head as shown in the photo.
Can someone post a picture of theirs please so I can compare and maybe see where I have gone wrong.

General / Self employed van courier?
« on: 09 January 2015, 03:18:20 pm »
Is anyone on here a self employed van courier or has been one?
Reason for asking my son got put on short time by his shitty employers and has been offered a self employed position as van courier with UKmail.
He will lease a van from Hertz and has been given a route in Wetherby and is all set up to start.
He does realise that it won`t be easy at first and he will  be working more hours than he has ever done before but the only other jobs that are available are minimum wage and even they are few and far between.
I have a few questions!!!!!
When should he tell the tax people he is now self employed?
We think his best option is to get an accountant to do his tax/expenses stuff, if he gets one will the accountant inform HMRC that he is self employed?
What can he claim as expenses if he does not use an accountant?
Does he get tax relief or similiar on fuel he uses and the van lease?
Does he need liability insurance for the goods in transit?
Does he need to tell his mortgage lender he is now self employed?

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Balancing throttle bodies.
« on: 28 September 2014, 05:31:02 pm »
I was thinking that maybe in the winter when I tend to give my bikes a good service that I should balance the throttle bodies on my FZ1 which leads me to a few questions.
Is it necessary?
Will I see/feel any difference in  smoothness or performance?
How easy/hard is it to do?
Can I use my old carb balancers to do it or do I need something else?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Swiitched live feed?
« on: 19 August 2014, 12:40:17 pm »
I want to place a usb  charger under the front fairing on my FZ1 so I can occasionally charge my phone or use it as a satnav and it will be easily accessible.
I have bought a 12v one and want to know which wire at the front of the bike I can tap into so that it is only live when the ignition is on, I had thought of using either the yellow/black or the green/black wire that goes to the  front lights.
Would this be ok to do?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / PC111 on ebay

If anybody is after a PC111 for their FZ1 there is one on ebay at moment.
Its not my auction and not connected to the guy advertising, just noticed it whilst searching for other stuff, thought some foccer might be interested.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Just fitted a k&n filter and...........
« on: 08 July 2014, 03:31:32 pm »
I could not believe the difference it has made. The old filter was in a right state,it must have been in the bike from new 7 years ago!
The bike accelerates a lot better and the induction noise just brings out my inner hooligan, 95 miles later I am pulling back into my drive with a big grin on my face.

I also managed to make the ABS trip in, totally my fault getting a little bit carried away and forgetting how tight one of the bends on one of my favourite routes is, and what a weird feeling it is, the lever pulsing slightly and a slightly remote feeling from the front.

General / Computer and chili tech camera problem.
« on: 03 July 2014, 02:42:49 pm »
I have one of those cheap chili tech cameras on my fazer that has worked ok for about a year and now I am having a strange problem with. If I import the videos to my laptop some of the videos play perfectly using windows media player but some videos will not play at all and I get the message that the format is not recognised. I have tried using the HP videosmart program supplied with my laptop but I just get the same message.
Anyone know how to get round this? ( bearing in mind my computer skills are getting pushed to the limit just importing videos).
