Thanks for your response FILZ6 .

Will drop a few Posts on any (major) Mods that take place.  :thumbup
Although I'm sure it's been done a 1000+ times already. :)  (removing fairing / aftermarket headlight etc. Then it comes down to more subtle 'upgrades')...

When I had the ZX6R, you don't really remove the fairings, unless the bike gets trashed. Then without fairings, ppl tend to know its a Sports bike that's likely slid down the road a few times.  :D

However the Fazer appears best of both worlds. "Naked" from the start, plus with Sports looks/performance thrown in. Certainly offers alot more scope.  8)

Get my own back when I'm in my 4x4 on Mercs, Audis,  BMWs AND F**king RangeRovers/Discoveries I don't take prisoners if they try pulling the crazy stunts they pull when I'm on the bike :evil :rollin

A Biker in a Cage, getting his own back on the Cagers! That makes perfect sense. :)

The "Tubing" on the left side (towards the front of the bike), especially the top one, appear 'floating' welded on the end of a long rectangle bracket?... you can imagine this being a weak point if the bar takes some impact and that rectangle piece would bend back, and the tubing ends will push back against the bike frame behind?

They do look beefy though. Probably do a good job of deflecting walls (garage / house) / cars (filtering) etc. :)

I like them because they are unobtrusive and I have "layed" the bike down once while pushing it and saved damage, I think they take the weight off the indicators and help prevent them snapping or pushing through the fairing, its stupid how much damage you can do just dropping it on the spot and the bars could save, they would be an ideal place I think to mount the spots.
Here is a more front on picture - those that you are looking at fit a little higher up the frame as the top bracket is longer than my two point one which you can see on my first post picture.

Stunningly mint! :)  You've kept it mostly standard too? Doesn't look like its used for any kind of commuting, too clean? :)

Does anyone do 'streetfighter' styled engine bars? All these, while decent, look OEM and blend in with the bikes contours.

This looked a great build up (the training), plus night for all involved !?

I've always secretly liked to get into the Ring, and try something like this, just to see how I'd handle it / the whole experience.
(there's infact a few WORK colleagues I'd personally select to flight against)!  :lol

Doing this, where funds raised go to a decent charity, would be a great "excuse" to sign up.  :thumbup

I will only do cash.....

I picked up a lovely £50 note printing machine off ebay. Apart from me printing in black ink (not Red - to save money), you'd never tell the difference!  :lol

On a serious note, ebay and paypal appear to use absolutely no logic when it comes to their problem resolution.
Plus they always appear to favour the buyer - who can put down any random excuse for refusing an item received.

You then find PayPal are "holding" hundreds of pounds that you have in there (which is "locked" and you cant withdraw or move it), your hands are completely tied.
EBay has become a complete ripoff, I now prefer Gumtree or Shpock, where its a collection only system.

Sounds a complete nightmare Disorderlypunk - hope you get this resolved and the (returned) bike hasn't been interfered with!

" seat hoop, a flat seat, exhaust wrap and some clip ons and saying its a custom built cafe racer when very little has been done and charging loads for a bike that in my opinion is not finished "

Unfortunately the above DOES summarise 90% of those high priced " café racer " projects on fleabay.  :rolleyes
Any further hints on what you plan to do with yours? Do you have a Build Thread running?

I did also come across this ZX7, which is stunning! Although the company that produced the rear subframe/seat support, cut it straight out of a solid block of Aluminium!... cant be purchased as a Kit unfortunately!...

I also liked the idea of stripping down a Honda Shadow and turning it into a simplistic Bobber. So cool (but less practical as a commuter lol).
Another factor why I went for the Fazer instead, a decent Shadow costs twice as much! :lol  Ohhhhhhhh, the RUMBLE of that V-Twin!  :b

Hi Disorderlypunk, thanks for your response.

Perhaps I need to do a bit more digging, to find some examples on here. :)

Welding on lugs sounds an interesting idea. Then a bottom set, to take an existing Sport bike Subframe.
Although the width/spacing of an existing Subframe, isn't likely to be the same as the left/right sides of the Fazer rear frame (to line up straight off).

I'm thinking commit to a specific Sports bike tail, buy that Subframe complete (fleabay), then adapt the Fazer rear frame to suit, so ultimately the 4 Lugs welded on will then enable the new Subframe to bolt straight on (as you say). Will require an amount of trial and error. I don't have any welding skills/facilities, so I'd have to rely on a fabricator to complete. Do you do this sort of work? Any idea on how much its likely to cost?

I wouldn't want to go too Eurofighter, it doesn't suit our UK taste (so much) :) More just a seamless looking transition front to back, with a more aggressive/purposeful rear end.  8)

speedo replacement advice ---
if you see the cheap chinese copy of the koso clocks steer clear - i have one and it looks ok and speedo works
but rev counter is a bit slow and the fuel guage wont work i have full and one bar less than full
go the extra mile and buy the proper koso it will last longer comes with better instalation instructions and has all the settings you will ever need
the wiring is actually fairly simple once your in there just have a good look at the wiring diagram for a 12v that goes into the clocks then feeds down to the speedo sensor make sure that wire down has 12v feed to it to get it to work
you could use the magnet sensor instead but oem sensor must remain for the ecu to operate correctly so just encorperate the oem into aftermarket speedo

What kind of ECU issues? The Yamaha front wheel magnet sensor isn't connected on my bike now, however the Bike still (appears to) run perfectly.

I added a genuine KOSO Digital Speedo. The KOSO Speed sensor lead (3 wires) that comes out of its wiring loom end at a Plug. You are then supposed to use KOSO's own magnet sensor, suitably positioned. Theirs however operate on 5V, and a 12V supply would likely fry the speedo (as per the original sensor).

Discussing this with KOSO they were reluctant to offer a solution (KOSO Speedo unit> to >original Speedo sensor) and strongly suggested only to use their Speed sensor accessory, or I could invalidate the warranty on the Speedo unit purchased.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: U-lock or Disc lock?
« on: 30 August 2017, 11:19:20 am »
Thanks for the replies, guys. I think I'm going down the disc lock route. I'll get one of those luminous springy things that you tie to the grip to remind you to undo the lock.

 :thumbup

EXACTLY! The solution is to use the luminous leash, that you then reach up to a lever, or somewhere along the side of the bike.
It also adds as an immediate visual deterrent, so the thieves eyeing up the bike, will see that leash from a distance.

Fitting onto the rear wheel is better if possible, as the rear wheel is much more difficult to get off (if they go to extreme measures to bypass the lock)!

FZS600 Fazer / FZS600 Tail conversion / Swaps (Sports bike grafted)?
« on: 30 August 2017, 10:51:00 am »
Have been considering Sports bike Tails for my Fazer, especially a couple of Ducati options.

However, perhaps unlike most other sports bikes, the Fazer doesn't have a detachable rear Subframe.
It's all one big welded frame (front to back) - assume which added to some of the cost savings during production.

So the existing frame would need to be cut at some point (something I'm extremely loathed to do), where the donor subframe would be welded on.

Anyone have a Fazer, where such a conversion has been carried out? Success stories? Considerations? PICS?? :D

Does this Forum have an annual printed Calendar produced?

As in, a printed glossy Calendar, months January to December, with a different forum members bike (Fazer) appearing each month.
Members submit their best photo(s), and moderators or forum members get to vote for the best Pictures that will appear?

Gives us something to work towards, plus I'd be willing to pay a small fee for such an item, that I can hang with pride.  8) :D

So how many of you would step in with one of them ? Be no contest but I'd willingly get my ass kicked for the same payout there getting.

The money could pay for your after care for life i s'pose.  :lol

Good call. Mayweather came across extremely well in the post fight conference with the media (same day infact). Intelligent individual.
Although you cant predict how all those years of (taking) head shots in the ring, might affect him in 10 / 20 years... Muhammad Ali, among many others, comes to mind.

Plus, " café racer " seems to be a buzzword to print money at the moment.
You see many motorcycles on fleabay for sale, that has "custom café racer" in the title, along with a random (greatly inflated) asking price.  :thumbdown

Each to his own I guess, but basically it appears to me you're just removing all the practical good bits and devaluing a classic bike.
...

I read this statement alot on Bike forums, plus it does make me reflect (on decision to modify... or NOT modify  :\ ).
Suppose every person buys a Bike for different reasons, depending on what you want to get out of the ownership experience.

I usually buy with my heart (not my head) - hence am thinking about long term ownership - not about resale value in 2 or 3 years time.

The bike above is very pleasing to look at. Has been finished with a high attention to detail. The Fazer is one very flexible machine! :D

Hello all,

Just registered, thought it the polite thing to do :)
Picked up my (FZS) Fazer about a month ago.

Have for a long time fancied a "naked" bike - the Fazer won, after mulling over the usual favourites... Bandits, Hornets, unfaired Sports bikes, etc.
My previous bike was a Ninja ZX6R Supersport.

Loving the Fazer, have already started on some subtle styling changes, to "enhance" / modernise.
Losing the 90's fairing (ok not so subtle), installed a KOSO Digital Speedo, new Headlight, (Streetfighter oriented tweaks)...

Looks a great active forum, looking forward to spending more time here! Cheers.
