Unfortunately it's only helmets that are zero rated for VAT. All your boots, gloves, jackets, back protectors etc, even if CE approved, are 20% VAT

I can't recall a single occasion when ABS was necessary

https://www.iihs.org/news/detail/largest-study-of-its-kind-strengthens-argument-for-motorcycle-abs

"The researchers found that bikes equipped with the feature were involved in 22 percent fewer fatal crashes per 10,000 registered vehicle years."

Can't argue with that

Don't forget, we inherited these regulations on led lights, which were approved for use in the EU, prior to brexit - it's actually the EU's fault really   .

Of course, car manufacturers are going to make separate 'GB only' cars, just like they're going to bottle wine in pints :)

But wait a minute when you look at a mirror you are in effect looking at distance so the middle should not matter
Not on a boxeye you're not. You're looking at your elbows :pokefun

The prescription just gives the near and distance values. It's the way Glasses Direct constructed the lenses that gives the benefits you mention. They are graduated varifocals.. I can see instruments and mirrors sharp, as well as distance. Glasses Direct give you multiple options for type of lens

Yep, mine do all of that. Took my Boots prescription to https://www.glassesdirect.co.uk

It's an Audi, what do you expect  :rolleyes

(As mentioned in another thread) my H4 LED bulbs in standard foxeye reflectors certainly get me noticed. They seem to outshine (in white) any daytime running lights.

Usually non road legal silencers will be stamped with words such as 'not for road use'

WD40 is usually the answer to everything  :D

Think you yourself lucky. For a number of cars you need to take off the front bumper, in order get at and change a bulb  :rolleyes

Halfords do a cheap bulb swap, but I think you need to buy the bulbs from them

Presumably there's no limit on the number of bikes you can scrap?

So buying up loads of rubbish at £500 a go could turn into a nice little earner  :)

I didn't mean a big big lens for varifocals. Just not those letterbox type lenses, which are apparently fashionable

If I'm on tour, and filling up each day, I'm happy to use E10. But if it's laid up at all, then super it is.

I had to change to varifocals a few years ago. Had been riding using 'distance' lenses, which were fine, but completely lost focus on the instruments and satnav etc.
Varifocals solved all the problems. You need a pair with reasonable size lenses, so that the change is gradual. Was originally fearful, but you soon get used to them.

Just be careful when walking down stairs  :eek

Did you try the 15w oil first, or change the springs at the same time?
Done (ages ago) together. I think I remember Hagon supply the oil as part of the kit.
Put a Hagon rear on first, which improved the knackered back end enormously. So went for the front too. 25k miles later, both still good.

I've got Hagon progressives and 15W. Much better than standard (in my opinion)

If anyone is looking to upgrade their headlight bulbs to LED, I can highly recommend these as a direct replacement. No heat sink, ballast resistors or any modifications required whatsoever. A bit pricey, but great quality.https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk/products/pair-of-compact-h4-p43t-472-hi-lo-beam-led-upgrade-bulbs?_pos=1&_sid=30f49498d&_ss=r

Just fitted a pair of these to my Foxeye FZS600, based on the recommendations. Not cheap, but a like for like fit, and wow what a difference. Nice focused white lights improving vision enormously.

(Perhaps stating the obvious) it was done purely to add an extra lane in order to help prevent traffic delays. Which of course it hasn't. The amount of traffic will always increase to fill up the available space.. But somebody obviously thought it was worth it, for a few more avoidable accidents.
