Double Bubble Toil & Trouble.............
« on: 21 February 2017, 10:51:09 am »
Probably a well worn topic but I want a Double Bubble screen.
Anyone know the best for quality & wind deflection, my being 6'2"?
I've looked up Powerbronze, Fabbri, MRA, Puig & Zero Gravity but can't seem to find out comparative heights.

I am 6-2 and have a Fabbri which  came on the bike when  I bought it. Keeps the wind off my chest but have problems  with wind noise. I to am looking  for the best screen and will follow  this post with interest.

I still say that the lower, perhaps original screen will always be the quietest, higher screens lift the airflow up to your helmet, a lot more buffeting going on.
Clean ,undisturbed air on you helmet is a lot quieter.

Hi Slim, how'ya doin?
You make a good point & what you say is very true...but for me its about pressure - because I have some chronic back & neck issues (that's why I had to give up my customised Warrior) I am searching for something that I can tuck behind a bit on the M-ways, etc...I can not take the wind pressure at M-way speeds for long.
I've tried loads of screens on a Sunday blat on A-roads - it's not really an issue what screen you have on those rides.

I am 6ft 2 and have the shorter of the two Yamaha touring screens. Not so easy to find these days but it works brilliantly well for me. It measures 285mm top to bottom along the centre line.
is it clean enough?

Finally got to spend some time on the bike with my new Puig Double Bubble screen & it is definitely the best screen I have used!  :)
Very glad I splashed out £72 at Motea on it.
The shape at the top & sides differs from most other screens & it kept the turbulence off my face, some wind pressure on shoulders but no problem & is great to tuck behind at high speeds.
Getting hard to come by it appears, esp. if you want a smoke tinted one, I guess the Gen.1 is becoming an old bike to bother marketing accessories for but I recommend the Puig screen for sure!  :D

Any chance of some photo's Andy - I'm wanting double bubbles for both our Fazer's (a 600 and a 1000) and was going to go Powerbronze, but don't like the idea that it's shorter than standard screen.

Always liked Puig DB screens on other bikes.

Hi Millietant,

Probably due to my amazingly lack of computerability I can not for the life of me get the pics I took to load.  :o
I've emailed them to my good pal PieEater & asked him to post them for me as he actually understands computers!  :)

The "flats" at the sides of the screen seem to make all the difference compared to other screens, I think Puig have got the profile just right!

Andy.
