Hi All
New 2002 FZS1000 owner from Australia. I have owned many bikes over the years and had to sell my beloved SMT990 due to redundancy and the mortgage and my kids eating was deemed more important. I have picked up another job and having a new modest budget I managed to get myself a mint 2002 with only 24 thousand kays on the clock. I am here as after my maiden voyage on the new beast and being a bit of a fat bastard I gently applied the front brakes at an intersection and experienced what can best be described as an emergency descent as the ludicrously undersprung forks fell through 90 percent of their travel. I am not your average sized rider but the spring rates on this bike are a dead set health hazard. I need a low cost fix just to make it feel what I feel to be rideable . I have done some reading and it looks like my best option is stiffer front Springs and possibly an R6 shock replacement? Apologies for covering old topics, I will use the search function and see if I can filter my questions to a pertinent few but your patience would be greatly appreciated. I just thought I should say hi and look forward to contributing to your slice of the Interweb!
Cheers.

Welcome from Newcastle up here.
Yes R6 rear shock and modified dog bones.
Up front stiffer springs and change the oil for slightly thicker.

Thanks for the welcome.
Another quick ride showed the suspension while definitely too soft for me isn't as bad as I feared from my first ride. I am in the process of sourcing an R6 shock so let the mods begin!
And definitely too fat!
