It's a lot of noise - engines running and revving every 5 seconds, so on a driveway outside a house with kids in a suburban area is maybe not ideal?

Adam it was delightful to meet you too :kiss If you check the accuracy of the gauges then that'll be a fair swap :thumbup

ps now that you have a set you should create a new thread in Events to et a date  :smash (or I could move this one if you prefer?)

Farjo I despatch in London, you offering to let us borrow a set?
Yes; where in London do you dispatch?

Either of you work in central or south London?

But in London it wouldn't be like that video. There would be hundreds of cyclists as well :thumbup

If the Scots vote Yes then presumably they won't take part in the 2017 EU in/out referendum (assuming the Cons win next May). How will that change the vote? The Scots are fairly pre-EU aren't they? Which means a boost for the Out campaign... (exciting init!)

Yes you're right :thumbup Argentina, Brazil, (West) Germany and Italy have all won the current trophy twice so if any of these win we'll have a new trophy in 2018 :) Very interesting!

Here's a potential pub quiz question: how many times have Germany won the World Cup?

And whilst you think about it, is it still believed that the trophy is different now to the original because it got lost in London in 1966?

And the answer is: none :) (but West Germany won it a few times ;) )

« on: 03 June 2014, 12:09:58 pm »
There used to be calls for the XJ6 to be added to the club, nowadays it's the MTs and in future who knows. The Fazer 600 will be a classic and they're still making FZ1 Fazers and Fazer8s, so who needs those outsiders - vote FOC-IP!!

Police have caught a pair of thieves who stole only women's panties that had cost £2. They are known as the two 2 nicker knickers nickers.

General / Re: How do these work???
« on: 30 May 2014, 02:10:16 pm »
Ah, so if someone wanted 3&ahalf kilo you could put three 1kg weights on one plate then the other side (the goods) will be 3.5kg when the scale reaches 500g. Is that what you mean?

And yes I see what you mean about the place for a bowl and the other plate for cheese etc. I guess the bowl would have come with it and was the exact weight to take the scale to 0 (zero grams). Although perhaps that sounds a bit tricky, mechanically.

Yes I think you're right because if you look at the full sized image the needle has 'preci~~~' (a bit fuzzy at the end) which presumably comes from precio = price :thumbup

So just the question of the two plates :)

« on: 30 May 2014, 09:16:09 am »
Saw these in a shop in Spain:

It's got two plates, as if you would put the goods on one side and weights on the other, but that doesn't make sense as it has that big needle thing and a dial.
So question 1: why two plates?
Question 2 is: the top row goes up to 1kg, but what are the other 'rows' for?
