Title: New exhaust
Post by: Kimkt on 04 March 2017, 07:33:17 pm
Looking for a new slip on for my fzs, want something thats short and comes out low.
I have looked at some types, but can't decide what to choose.

Anyone with similar exhaust? Or other tips on exhaust? Dont want some big and bulky can.

Something like this is what i had in mind.

Was also looking for an exhaust that would keep dozy car drivers alert as I filter: the OEM can on my yr2000 seems too quiet?

Any suggestions -- and sorry for hijacking thread!!

Plenty of exhaust cans out there Joey, one that is road legal with a removable baffle (DB eater) that you can put in for MOT, but some can be stupidly load normally stubby ones. If you are removing OEM can you will need a link pipe suitable for fzs 600 to connect to original downpipes if fitted.

On the bay there are three at reasonable price:
two I have never heard of --Black widow ( kept thinking of Clint Eastwood and his big Orange monkey)
and Viper?
The other is Delkevic which is reasonably well known:
they all come with link pipes and clamps for around £120-140.

Can the OE can be "modified"?

It's your choice really, shape design, I have a Motad Venom can which isn't loud but louder than standard & with the baffle out burbles nicely when weaving in traffic, most I find only get loud when giving it the beans, even though not the best sound there are a few videos of different exhaust cans, but all the makes you mention are well known, delkevic get a good shout. Had a mate cut down a OEM can a few years ago all the baffles inside fell apart it wasn't great & in the end he bought a new can instead.

for commuting just get a link pipe and have your choice of end cans
them things will cause you no end of grief
i used to have a 115Db vl800 and it just brought too much attention (especially leaving my estate for early shift)

Hi there here's a link worth looking at, that is what I have on mine, really pleased with it, plenty loud enough to be noticed without pissing off the neighbours late at night or early in the mornings. But should you want to piss them off one allen screw and the DB killer is out 20 seconds flat.
Love the X detail Lazer cut into the tail pipe at the end of the Can. comes with link pipe, S/S hanging strap and rubber insert and exhaust clips, in fact every thing you will need.

Pipewerx and Hawk are the same company, Hawk is the slightly lower end of the market.

This link below is the one I have and its 30 quid cheaper now than it was 3 years go every thing you will neen comes with it.

Thanks for the tip.

This is what i would like to have the exhaust like. And remove the rear foot pegs and fabricate a tail tidy so it will be nice and clean.

That's an awesome look fella.  :)  I don't know if you can pull it off on a fzs600 with a standard swingarm, space is a bit tight there.

Yeah! My ears will probably bleed with 60 km commute each way to work with an exhaust like that, but i like the looks.
Still got a long way to go with the project, turning it into a naked front. Started school again so this is on a budget :-)

This is with the baffle IN, but that does keep it legal. With it out it creates way too much attention for my liking, even if it does sound awesome.
I have 2 end cans that i change over every now and then.

That does sound awesome!... although a bit loud for me. I have a big scorpion rocket launcher on mine, which is the same size as the OEM exhaust, A good compromise between a nice low end grumble and high end scream.

Dunno if you can can really tell the difference, but this is WITHOUT the baffle, which then does technically make it illegal.
